Fantasy Literature
Nightmare has made it for a year now: the September issue is the twelfth. Based on the quality of the magazine to date, I hope it manages to at least cube that number.

“Halfway Home” by Linda Nagata is the first original story in this issue. It’s a stunner set in the real world; no supernatural beings or powers are at work here, just human evil. I love this magazine. I basically use it to go shopping for my next favorite horror author, and I just picked up a sharp little doozy named C.S. McCullen.

The item I most look forward to now, though, is the interview section. Lisa Morton deserves her own spotlight for her amazing conversations with these authors. Linda Nagata's contribution is good, but C.S. McMullen's make this issue superb. Nightmare keeps getting better and better.

Peter Straub's A Short Guide to the City was definitely the highlight for me, though all the other stories, as well as the non-fiction and interviews were great. A shame I read it too fast.
