Tom's obsession with Ava began long before the events of Obsidian. The client that catches Ava’s eye happens to be a powerful leader of the Psytech corporation. She doesn’t think he’s interested in her other than to poach her from Herrick-Peyton so she can work at Psytech. Little does she know, Tom’s interest in her runs much deeper. This short story companion to Obsidian (Mystic Stones Series #1), shows the point-of-view of both characters at a pivotal point in their relationship. This story can be enjoyed before or after reading the novel of Obsidian. Previously released in 2012. Now remastered.

At night, her active imagination produces dreams all night long. It’s those dreams that provide much of the inspiration for her stories which have a little Victorian charm mixed with a fairy tale flair.

Her works include Where the Carnies Are, Obsidian (Mystic Stones Series #1), and many short stories.

She lives in North Platte, Nebraska with her husband and two sons and she plans to keep writing and creating for the rest of her life.

A Blogger Book Fair Review
What is the blogger book fair? It's two weeks every year that I get to make myself go crazy with contest, reviews, blog posts, and have the ability to meet hundreds of new authors all in one week. So clearly, you should check out the picture up there links to. It's a great week to be exposed to not only new authors, but new titles to add to your every growing library.

Second in a series of 8 reviews this week - and yeah, it's Sunday night and I'm writing them all this week as I go. This time, it's a short story by our wonderful coordinator Kayla Curry. This is a two part review of the Mystic Stones series. Check back tomorrow for my thoughts on Obsidian also by our lovely coordinator. Ruby is a short story, that gives some background to the Mystic Stones Jewel series. It was a great addition to the series, and a really touching dedication accompanies it from the author. I actually read this before Obsidian, which might not be a bad idea. I wanted a better idea of Curry's writing style, and decided reading the short first was the way to go. It's about 4000 words, and did nothing but inspire me to dive into Obsidian - which is the review you'll find next. Ava and Tom are well developed, and getting to know them a little bit before reading the novel was nice. It left me with questions and wanting more - which in this case is a very good thing! More specifically, this is a touching short story, which will make you want to run out and grab Obsidian as soon as you can. More romance than sci-fi, it's got some great tie-ins to current events and dystopic aspects as well. I enjoyed it very much, and can't wait to delve into more detail with my review of Obsidian tomorrow! Ruby is a short story companion to the Mystic Stone Series (Obsidian is book 1). I read Ruby blind, that is, I hadn’t read Obsidian or anything else by Curry before. I was worried I might not understand what was going on in the story, but Ruby stood well on its own and made me curious to find out more about Ava and the mysterious Tom fellow who I couldn’t quite pin.

While there were a few things left unexplained, Ruby was a great teaser to the series. There were hints at supernatural powers and unexplained phenomena, which I would love to know more about. This was a quick, fun read with just enough mystery to keep me wanting more.

Great teaser! Having read Obsidian first, this answered a few little questions I had been pondering. If I had read this first, it would of left quite a few unanswered ones as well and sent me running off to read Obsidian.

This is a great addition to the book 'Obsidian'.
I guess it doesn't really matter which one you read first, but I'm glad I already read the other one.
It explains a little about Toms motives to get closer to Ava.
It intrigues to get to know the rest of the story.

Tom Walker is a vampire who moves, as he says, with “lightning speed.“ Ava Tanner is his love (?) interest. Together, they interact, but sometimes she does not know it. He is obsessed with her; she doesn’t know what she wants.
