Certain things just grab my attention when I'm shopping for a potential new read and this book offered up a few of them. I love romances that are surrounded by a greater story involving family and friends. My attention can always be grabbed by a military hero. And then toss in some little old ladies full of larceny and set on a bit of matchmaking? Bam! You got me.

Mike Stark has a month of leave coming to him and he had some really hot plans involving a Caribbean island beach and a willing blond

The Sweetheart Rules was a very enjoyable read! Even though I haven't read the first book, The Sweetheart Bargain, I never felt lost or like I didn't who someone was. Everything was explained very well and the town and the characters were adorable.

Diana Tuttle is a single mother and the town veterinarian. She had a summer relationship with Mike Stark, but didn't think she would see him again after he left to go back to the Coast Guard. Mo

Diana and Mike first appeared in The Sweetheart Bargain. Diana is Olivia's sister, and Mike is Luke's Coast Guard friend. In that book, Mike came to Rescue Bay to visit Luke, and spent much of that time with Diana and her son. There was intense attraction between them, but both of them were looking for different things.

In this book, Diana still has her vet practice, which keeps her busy, and is dealing with her fifteen year old son, Jackson. He's been rude and rebellious and she worries about h

Review:

"The Sweetheart Rules" by Shirley Jump was a wonderful contemporary romance and was the second in the 'Sweetheart Sister' series. I really enjoyed this fun romantic read of how this author was able to present all of this to the reader. What will happen when two older ladies help match up a couple in the town of Rescue Bay. Now, how and what will they

Again, I read this book to full GR team challenge and I really enjoyed this one. There is nothing that I like more than books with kids and dogs and that is just what I got in this story. Mike and Diana are both struggling with past demons that continue to dictate how they live their lives and interact with their children. Together they make a lot of mistakes but end up getting their HEA, the kids and the dogs.

Family drama all across the board is the main focus surrounding the relationship between Mac and Diana. They were together months ago for a little fun, but when things got heavy and Diana uttered those three little words starting with an ‘I’ and ending with ‘You’, Mac ran as fast as he could back to his work, a base in Alaska. Now, he’s back in Rescue Bay forced to be a father for the first time to his two little girls who he barely knows.

Shirley Jump brings readers the second book in her Sweetheart Sisters series, The Sweetheart Rules. Jump writes contemporary romance novels that grab the heart and won't let go. In this installment of the series, she not only focuses on love between the main couple, but also on family love and parenting. Jump gives readers a man who doesn't know how to be a father and woman, who is struggling with a teenage son. It's a match made in heaven. With three eccentric old ladies bent on matchmaking and ...more

The second installment in the Sweetheart Sisters Series was fun, romantic and entertaining! This was my first time reading a Shirley Jump book and I'm extremely happy that I got the chance to discover her fantastic talent! Her writing style is captivating and it will leave you cheering for Diana and Mike's HEA ;)

In The Sweetheart Rules, we follow Diana Tuttle and Lieutenant Mike Stark. One night of passion a few months ago was all it took to get under each other's skin. Mike Stark is not a commi

The Sweetheart Rules is the second in the Sweetheart sisters series and the follow up to THE SWEETHEART BARGAIN, which I read last year and loved. I was really excited to get back to Rescue Bay, find out what was happening with the unstoppable Greta, a senior at the retirement home and a real firecracker. She’s got a deft hand at matchmaking, and she’s also fighting against some romance of her own with neighbour Harold Twohig. The story focuses on the romance of local veterinarian, Diana, and Mi ...more

In this sexy and sweet follow-up to The Sweetheart Bargain (not that you had to read the first to enjoy this one!), we return to Rescue Bay. Now that Olivia is happy in her relationship with Luke, we're ready to see Diana happily settled.

When Luke's friend Mike returns, the spark between Diana and Mike rekindles -- in a big, sexy way! But Mike brings his two daughters with him, daughters with whom he is trying to rebuild a relationship since his job has made him an absentee father. Shy, sweet v

4.25 Stars!

This is a wonderful story about family, trust and building bridges in relationships. I thoroughly enjoyed this second addition to the series that lets us get to know more about the residents of Rescue Bay, Florida.

Mike Stark is back in Rescue Bay with his two daughters (Jenny 8 and Elle 4) who he barely knows; his ex-wife is going on a long vacation with her new boyfriend and Mike is taking some time off. He comes to Rescue Bay because he can use Luke’s place, there was no way he was

This is the second book in the Sweetheart series. It is a book about two old ladies who are determined to match everyone around the town of Rescue Bay but themselves.
Actually, It' a book about a single mother, Diana, who is a vet and also runs the animal shelter next door. Diana has a past full of secrets and a teenage son with an attitude. In The Sweetheart Rules by Shirley Jump, Mike, a Coast Guard Lieutenant based in Alaska, is back in Rescue Bay. This time he has his daughters with him, daughters he doesn’t really know, after his ex-wife informed him the month was his with the girls. Mike craves order and a schedule, two things that are almost impossible with children. “…schedules kept him sane. This is the second book of A Sweetheart Sisters series, but is also a stand alone if you missed the first one.

The story is about two single parents who discover each other for a second time..

Diana Tuttle, who is a great single mom, still has issues from her dealing with her sons dad.

I really liked this story of Shirley Jump's. A perfect way to escape life's crap for a few hours. The Sweetheart Sisters are at again with their matchmaking ways. And this time it is with the local Veterinarian and her neighbor's best friend. He is a man with 2 young daughters that need the special touch only a woman can give. I love the by play between Greta and Harold Twohig! Makes me laugh every time! A great book 2 in the Sweetheart Sisters series!

I really enjoyed this book. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep wanting to read more. With children and pets galore,it kept me wanting to know what would happen next. Although it was 2nd in a series it was fine as a stand alone. However it does make me want to read the first one too.

I like this author. The stories are charming and fun. The banter is pretty good too. I liked Mike and Diana. I felt Mike spent too much time away from his daughters for the time frame they had. How was he supposed to get to know them if he was always off doing something else. The author could have furthered the story along without making it feel like he was neglecting them. All in all it is a good series. I will probably read the next story, but for now I am ready to move on.

This just didn't hit the right spot for me. Competently written, but I'm not sure I want to bother with the other books. My favorite character, by far, is Greta. And I'm not sure who the Sweetheart Sisters are--the three women and their column? While their involvement is minor, it is the high point of the story.

The Sweetheart Rules, Sweetheart Sisters #2, by Shirley Jump
Grade: C-

“Come on, Diana, take a risk with me.”

Diana Turtle’s whole world has been turned upside down with her mother’s death and the arrival of a big sister she never knew she had. Throw in her ex-husband fighting her for their rebellious teenage son, finding her birth father and Mike the sexy coast guard she fell for and things are crazy. All Diana wants is a man who will stick around and make a family with her but the only man who’s

This book sucked me in from page one. And made me laugh right off the bat! Which is the best way to cinch me!

I loved that the hero is a harried dad not used to hanging with his kids. He was charming and sarcastic in his internal thought and hilarious.

I loved that the heroine has depth to her. Her part of the first chapter when she gets home really let you see who she is even barely on.

As I read on, very early in chapter 4 it was apparent to me that the hero's daughter, who is eight years old, is

I won this book as a FirstRead.

Mike Stark is on leave from the Coast Guard; his ex-wife has thrust his kids upon him for the month, and he has no idea what to do with them. He ends up taking them to Rescue Bay, Florida, where he spent a few weeks 6 months ago, visiting his friend Luke and having a brief, no-strings-attached relationship with single mom and local veterinarian, Diana Tuttle.

Mike and Diana keep running into each other, and they struggle with their feelings of attraction for each ot

I've not had the chance to read the first book, but after reading this book I definitely want to check it out.

This was a fairly quick read. There was good amount of character and story development. Diana such is quite the single mother, doing what she can to juggle between her teenage son and her ever expanding vet practice. And then there's Mike who blows in from Alaska with his 2 young daughters, trying to make it through the month with 2 children who bar

Wow! My first experience with a book by Shirley Jump was one I’ll not soon forget! This tale of a one night stand turned love story was funny, touching and romantic. When Diana meets Mike, they get lost in each other passionately for one incredible night. But when Diana wakes up to find Mike has split, her old scars of being hurt burn again. Mike, a bachelor who isn’t in to commitment, had a great night with Diana. So much so, that she’s gotten under his skin. And when Diana and Mike’s paths cro ...more

Shirley touched that animal lover in me with all the characters who were a different species-- As usual, one can pick up a book in the middle of Shirley's series' titles and it won't matter because we get a great subtle history of the relevant details. I loved the so-called banter between the senior characters who were a wrong fit from the start. Mike and Diana's relationship followed a typical path but with some surprises thrown in. Shirley's portrayal of Mike's daughters fit in with my vision

Sweet & Sassy! Loved Mike and Diana! So glad they were more loving and responsible than their selfish ex-spouses or their poor children would have really needed therapy. I loved the Florida beach scenes and the other interesting supporting characters. Nicely Done! I received this book, free, in a Goodread's First Read's Giveaway. Thank you.
