I stumbled across The Word in the Dark after a conversation with one of my book enthusiast friends who suggested I might be interested in the genre. Perhaps it was my love of the Anita Blake series by Luarell K. Hamilton which suggests I am cool with zombies or that I gave Rapture-Palloza (2013) ten stars for its irreverent treatment of the end of the world as we know it, that put this book on my list of too-read books.

Unique in this post-apocalyptic world is the lack of heavy religious

General: I never really give 5 star reviews. and when i do its usually on something i will buy or something i can do over and over again. And with that, by definition this book has earned its 5 stars. as soon as i finished reading it, i started it again. and i feel like i still haven't gotten all of the "Holden Caulfield-Esque" wisdom that the main character portrays in such a dark situation.

Writing: When it comes to the Writing itself, B.P. Massa doesn't fall short. cleverly mixing words of

This story follows a man (Who's name you never really learn) as he deals with the end of the world. Between the screwed up climate making it an everlasting winter and the zombies, the reader is taken on a ride through the human mind.

This is one hell of a debut. B.P. Massa has captured the imbalance in the human psyche in times of severe stress beautifully. The story flows beautiful and the reader will feel bad for the state of life this poor guy has to live in. Things we as modern humans take

A Glimpse into the Future?

**I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review**

This book is set during post apocalyptic times. I laughed and felt bad for "Jax" as I followed his struggles to survive day to day life in the cold and dark world that he now has to live in since "IT" happened, as he calls it, the day it all ended. I cheered him on as he fought to keep from becoming a zombie. This book is PERFECT for "The Walking Dead" fans.

B.P. Massa did an AMAZING job

Today I will be reviewing the work, “The Word in The Dark” by author B.P. Massa. I received a copy of this book for the purpose of giving an honest review after reading it and as such I have to say it is not quite what I expected.

While “The Word in the Dark” is not written in a genre I would normally read, I did find myself enjoying several critical points to the story. B.P. Massa gives a hauntingly disturbing picture of a mind that is steadily degenerating in the wake of the post-apocalyptic

A darkly compelling tale of a post-apocalyptic world, this story tells the emotions of a survivor. He has been alone so long he is feeling very empty. The only friends he had made committed suicide, too unwilling to keep going in such a grim time. As we go through the story we get to see how lines begin to blur between fantasy and reality in this man’s mind as he struggles to make sense of it all.
I loved this short story, there was a clear ending to it which a lot of short stories do not pull

Well I will begin with this. I am not a Zombie lover. Usually i would pass over books like this for my prefered genre of fantasy. I will now always now at least take a chance and read another now thanks to this book. I will be honest. while the book is not long at all it is one of those ya just cant put down. The point of view of the main character as well as his sarcastic dry humor in the book is a nice touch , as well as " silent Partner" who is a lazy ass . His words not mine. I read this ...more

I enjoyed this book by B.P. Massa. While it's short and to the point, it doesn't lack for imagination that grips you and takes you into a much darker world. It builds up the main character, before tearing him and everything else down after a long time in the senseless cold. Filled with carnage, love and hopelessness, it becomes more personal than a typical-zombie story. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the unconventional stories of bloodshed, which causes you to want to ride it out to the ...more
