Lilian's Spell Book starts out like many a traditional gothic haunted house horror novel. A family inherit a mansion in the countryside from a distant uncle. There are odd conditions in the will (they must practice Catholicism and not sell anything). Amazon says this novel is 285 pages, but it was a very quick read, so I guess I fell under Lillian's spell! The blurb calls this a paranormal adventure but while I was reading, it felt like a modern-day gothic to me. I am not a horror aficionado, so while there were death tropes at the forefront of the mystery, it was not gruesome in any way. I enjoyed it and will definitely be reading more by Mr. Litt. 1 star off for the very awkward grammar, Mr. Litt. At the end of the kindle edition, you ...more
