Elizabeth Haran was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (known as Southern Rhodesia.
Afterwards, her family moved to England and wandered from there to Australia. Today she lives with her husband in a seaside suburb of Adelaide in South Australia. She has two grown sons. Her passion for writing she discovered early 30s.Previously she worked as a model, owned a nursery and worked with young children in a primary school.

Muy buena historia!!! Si uno busca drama acá lo encuentra!!!!
Drama, mentiras, secretos, avaricia, celos, etc, etc. Los personajes están muy desarrollados, no hay intermedios; los malos son terriblemente malos y los buenos son un pan de Dios victimas de los malos. En algunos momentos estos secretos eran bastante obvios y no dejaba mucho a la imaginación y la forma de resolución de los conflictos al final en mi opinión fue un poco apresurada teniendo en cuenta todo lo que veníamos padeciendo desde el principio.

Con respecto a la descripción de los paisajes esta muy completa, realmente me sentí como si estuviera navegando en un barco de vapor por el Murray. Yo esperaba más descripción sobre la época y la historia de Australia en esa época como ocurre en otros libros similares, pero no fué así.

En conclusión es una novela atrapante de fácil lectura y llena de drama, ideal para pasar el rato.

River of Fortune by Elizabeth Haran is yet another of her books that I have enjoyed every moment of. She manages to breathe life into her stories with perfect descriptions of people and places and she makes it so easy to picture yourself in the story.
This book had it all, budding romance, intrigue, drama, laugh out loud moments and moments that make you want to cry. Some characters you will love, others you will hate, and others you will pity. Even the sub-characters storylines were full and equally kept my attention.
One thing about all of Elizabeth Haran's books that amazes me is just how captivating they are and how they make me want to read them as quickly as I can, even way into the wee hours of the morning, to find out how things will end. Although I know that they will have a happy ending I am always at a loss as to how that happy ending will believably come about. Every time though I am thrilled with the outcomes, this book is no exception. In fact, this book had an ending that I didn't see coming but that I am very happy about.
I absolutely recommend this book and I know I will read it again in the future.

Geschichte hat sich gezogen. Die vielen Missverständnisse in dieser love story waren sehr unrealistisch und trieften generell nur so vor Klischees. Zwei Sterne gibt es noch für das eine große Geheimnis, welches ca. in der Mitte des Buches verraten wurde und mich wirklich überrascht hat. Ansonsten war die Geschichte recht anspruchslos und trotz des interessanten Settings in Australien eintönig.

Desde que descubrí la pluma de Elizabeth Haran quedé hechizada con sus novelas cargadas de emocionantes giros en la trama , amores tormentosos, personajes complejos y emociones a flor de piel. En esta historia el romance y el drama familiar se van alternando para mantener enganchado a sus lectores,con personajes secundarios que están diseñados para caerte bien o mal(sin término medio) y con una ambientación muy lograda sobre la vida en un barco de vapor.

O estilo desta autora é simples, algumas descrições, apesar da protagonista ter relevo, existem outras personagens com direito a terem capítulos ou cenas narradas com foco só nelas. Gostei da historia, mas existiram coisas que me não gostei: um inicio um pouco lento (excesso de informação, sinceramente não trouxe nada), uma protagonista com atitudes um pouco de mimada, um protagonista quase ausente, e algumas atitudes um pouco moralistas de personagens que não eram completamente “puros”. A ideia de base é bastante interessante, mas com aspectos mal aproveitados, gostaria de mais cenas sobre a vida nos barcos. Un libro que me atrapo de principio a fin. Se los libros que he leído de ella, este es quizá el que más me ha gustado.Me encantan sus libros de, me gusta que sus protagonistas no son la típica chica débil que dependen del chico completamente para salvar la situación. El libro esta lleno de secretos, mentiras, y demás cosas, sin embargo es muy entretenido y bueno me agrada que no todo se centra en la historia de amor de los protagonistas si no hay que hay más conflictos para mantenernos entretenidos.

Could read better if we didn't know what everyone is thinking all the time - hard to have any suspense this way.

Cuando en la primera página de un libro encuentro un mapa, suben mis expectativas! Pero que desilusión darme cuenta que toda la historia transcurre en un solo pueblo que ni siquiera aparece en el mapa. Además de estar llena de clichés de novela mediocre, lo cierto es que la historia podría transcurrir en cualquier lugar del mundo donde haya un río. No aporta nada interesante sobre la historia de Australia, las costumbres, la cultura…..una desilusión.

Very intriguing book hi's and lows in it,a good read,more for a woman than a mans book but the plots situation at Echuca on the Murray is lifelike described in this book.If you have been to Echuca and enjoyed the paddle steamers you will enjoy this book.There is one thing a bit far fetched I thought when the paddle streamer steered it self miles down the river on its own around bends and ending where it did.But as it's fiction story one can't be too critics of the happenings described.
