In one panel on page 19 I realized she's not as understanding as those she seeks to improve-
"I think every family should have one of these angels (disabled child) to help them overcome their prejudices" leading into "I've wished for it to happen but it hasn't.".
Her childhood is being told in past so it's not her as a child saying this.
She's HOPING every family experiences the incidental emotional, spiritual, mental and physical challenges even if they (we) are pure-hearted- up to her standards.
That means she'd be fine with doing it as a poor single mother instead if her sister never existed (only hypothetically of course)- who arrived when she was at her most adaptive part of life in a family with resources. I'd love to hook her up to a lie detector.
She's obviously nurtured this desire through multiple phases of life and if Im'ma head shrinking it's as a selfish way to retroactively cope by still projecting (across the world) whatever she hasn't come to terms from back then.
And don't get the wrong idea about me I've long believed the disabled are National Treasures- especially my since-I-can-remember older buddy Andrew!
