With plenty of adventure for the gents and romance for the ladies, Wallace delivers a gripping story of love vs hate and good vs evil. By combining a fantastical realm with the cold reality of the times in which we live, this novel wonderfully provides an intriguing explanation on why the 20th century was one of the bloodiest in history. While certain elements are obviously fictional, this novel paints an allegory of why the world continues to experience so much suffering and hints at what we mi ...more

received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. This in no way influenced my review of this book.

Half-Heart is a book that leaves you wanting more. At first, it was hard to get into the book as the character development and the world building were a bit lacking. As the story progressed, the writing was dramatically better and the book was difficult to put down.

One example of how the writing was a bit lacking in the beginning was the fact that the author seemed to tell thin

***I received this book from the author for an honest review***

This book was published under a publisher I didn't know, but after receiving the book I did some sleuthing. The publishing company that published this book was only created to publish this book. And it is run by the author and some other dude. Honestly I didn't know I was getting a self published book, and I wish the author was just honest.

While the synopsis is intriguing. The execution is what went wrong. The prologue is a very b

I rarely read fiction novels but since I was living in Hawaii at the time and the author was a local, I decided I would buy a copy for my daughter. However, after reading the synopsis on the back cover, my interest was peaked so that as soon as my daughter finished reading Half-Hearts, I started reading it and to my surprise, could not put it down. I read it in four days and only because I did have to eat and sleep and cook for my family. The story line is fascinating, and the author uses such d ...more

What an amazing first read from this author! I was absolutely captivated by this book. It starts off slowly and normally with time spent in an ordinary life and suddenly spirals into a fantastical ride through an amazing other world. Cannot wait for the next installment to find out what has happened to the story's characters, who now seem like good friends that I care very much about. Thank you Miss Wallace, for such an entertaining story!

Recommends it for: Everyone
It's rare that I find a book that actually transport me into and makes me feel part of the story, but that is what happened to me as I read Half-Hearts. I felt like I was in and personally experiencing the world of Alemea. Each of the characters in the book came to life for me and I felt like I somehow knew each of them. The complexity and the unpredictability of the story kept me intrigued, page after page. I found myself saying, “One more chapter and I've got to go,” only to find myself not ab ...more

Great read! It's easy to get caught up in this adventure-filled love story. The amazing world of Alamea is a captivating one that grabs you from the start and leaves you wanting more. Kealohilani Wallace has created a fantastic world full of interesting characters and creatures, a compelling struggle between good and evil, and a beautifully detailed window into another place where true love can literally save lives!
