A new trilogy begins with Book 4 of the Day Soldiers series...

The war against the vampires has been over for sixteen years. Humans control the American continents. Werewolves control the forests. Vampires control the rest of the world.

A new president has risen to power in Topia and the Day Soldiers must decide if he's a friend or an enemy. If he's a friend, great. Peace will continue. But if he's an enemy, fighting him won't be easy. He's not just commanding an army. He's the leader of a vampire world.

Everything has changed. The old rules no longer apply. The Day Soldiers know they have two choices: They can die... or they can evolve.

Please excuse any typos or misspellings, doing review from my not so smart smartphone.

Book 4 was not necessary but it was good! It takes place 16 years after book 3. I really enjoyed the plot. The B Team is off to Topia and of course nothing goes as planned. There is more heart ache, loss, and plot twists! I Love a good "OMG wtf just happened" moment and there was the perfect amount like always! And of course I cried so this book is a keeper! I really enjoyed the story. I enjoyed where the story went and where it was going! It was a nice surprise! There will be a book 5. I hope he doesn't over due this series but so far he has done an amazing job telling the story. I will continue on with the series since I feel like I am a part of the B Team!

I really didn't want to like this book, after the last one I felt as though everything was neatly tied up and I couldn't see this book as doing anything other than dragging the profit out. You know how you watch a great series and then it keeps going and becomes crap, but it still keeps going and eventually ruins it completely? Yeah, I thought this book was the start of that, so it took me a while to actually get into it, I was determined to finish the book, but I really didn't want to. SO GLAD I DID!!!! Once I got over myself and let the new characters into my heart and dealt with my aversion to "fast forward ten years" I fell in love all over again.

This book was delightfully witty and probably the most fun to read of all four! I sat laughing my way through the story, loving the banter between the characters and how it's very self aware in the fact that it references the real world a lot. One of the vampire characters is married to a human character (which you will know from like ten minutes in) and one of his friends teases him about it because humans and vampires were always getting together in movies, you're nothing new.

As usual though, the authors dark side shows through as he mercilessly kills and maims with no regards for how much I like his victims. Strangely though, I love that about these books. My favourite character though has got to be Travis, who is just so ridiculously insane! I swear I start grinning like a lunatic everytime it looks like he's about to descend.

Now on tenterhooks to read book 5!

Great addition to the series. I enjoyed the complexity in the moral issues and the new depth in some of the relationships. The action was exciting, and I'm already looking forward to the next installment.

The tittle 'Evolution' really sets the tone for this additional trilogy to the 'Day Soldiers' series. The evolution of 'Topians', werewolves and humanity.

In this new trilogy, we see a new development in the 'Topians'
Quote:
“This is big,” Scott said. “It changes everything.”
“What do you mean?” Grung asked.
“Topia,” Scott said. “It changes everything we know about Topia.”
“Topians aren’t evil,” Cooper said. “Not inherently, anyway.”
Scott nodded. “The ones who haven’t killed are like werewolves or humans. Basically, they’re just people with the capacity for good or evil.”

Is there a way for all species to coexist or will there be a fight to be THE dominant species. If the choice is to coexist, how will it happen without impeding each species' freedom of choice.

The characters' personality and interactions shines throughout the quality of the story and the philosophical questions asked within the book is typically a Brandon Hale's signature.

I eagerly awaits the continuation of this story and encourage anyone to read the series.

Again, another brilliant book by this author and an excellent continuation of the series. It introduces new characters, but none out of the blue as it answers questions proposed in the very first book of the series. Can't wait to read the next instalment.

Wow! As always, Brandon Hale does not disappoint. The action never stops. I just flew through the pages and before I knew it, I was at the end. Love the old favorite characters and now we have new characters that are just as engaging. Hoping the next book comes quickly.

The author misses out by not having the characters deal with questions of good & evil. They touch on it but come up with pithy answers. Still has funny smart-ass dialogue & clever plot twists so I'll keep reading the series.

not as good as the previous 3 books but still was an entertaining, exciting romp.
