Selkie
Annie Jacobs's marriage fell apart, leaving her heart and her trust broken. Even her friends couldn't ease the pain of betrayal and eventually, Annie packed up her life and moved on. In peaceful Bar Harbor, Maine, Annie is finally able to find solace. She makes new friends, she finds a new routine, and she begins to pick up the shattered remains of her confidence. Just when Annie thinks she's found contentment once again, a series of chance disasters threatens her new life and nearly ends her life entirely. When the man who saves her turns out to be something more than Annie ever would have expected, her life is thrust once again into turmoil. A near-death experience takes Annie into an entirely new world, one she would never have believed existed. It seems like DEATH has it's sights set on Annie for sure this time, and war is closing in. Even immortality may not be enough to save her now.

Jumped the shark
There were a few points in the book that I just had to roll my eyes at. Not that it was it’s bad - I still like it. But a few points were waaaay out of left field and felt borrowed from other mythologies. About halfway through I wasn’t as pulled in by the novel. I finished it, I enjoyed it. I don’t know if I’ll read the rest of the books in this trilogy. I do absolutely love selkies so I had high hopes for this book but while it was a good romance novel there were a few points that made me roll my eyes or question the logic. The main character Annie is a broken spirit that somehow gets constantly hit on and doesn’t believe any of it- and struggles with a new romance while also feeling completely at ease with the new man in her life. Her constant back and forth was somewhat realistic but I thought the author went over board on the “let me show how amazing she looks by bringing someone else random to complement/ hit on her” etc.

Author Brandi Kennedy has really done it again with the debut of her Selkie trilogy, simply titled Selkie. It is a great mix of romance with a lot of action that speeds you through the book.
Annie comes home to find her husband and best friend (next door neighbor as well) on the table together having sex. That day, she lost two important people in her life. Tired of the pitying looks from those around town, she packs up her car and drives to a new place that feels right to her, Bar Harbor. She finds a great beach house where she can unwind, continue to write and not have to look at those familiar faces.
She comes across a cute seal while combing the beaches looking for something to photograph. Suddenly, one day she is pulled into the water and can’t swim. She is miraculously saved and the strange man that saved her stays around to make her well again after the incident. The two fall in love but will the turmoil between them and around them push them together or tear them apart?
This is another, (and probably the best) of all of Ms. Kennedy’s books that I’ve read so far!!! She takes you along on a great journey of love, self-discovery, loss and reconciliation. I found myself unable to put the book down and would often lose myself in reading. I found myself being pulled through the book as I had to see what happened next. It was also an emotional roller coaster ride and I can’t wait for the second installment of this trilogy. I highly recommend it and give it an A+++!!

I have read all of this authors books and loved them all, but I didn't know if I would like this one as it is totally different. Oh boy was I wrong this book I would say is the best. I love legends and myths which is in this book!! I don't like giving spoilers, but basically it is a beautiful love story with lots of twists and turns. I cant wait to read Selkie 2 as Selkie 1 was left on a cliff hanger. This is so worth it's 5 stars. Recommend this book as a good all round read for anybody.

This is a fabulous read with a male selkie story. It’s a sweet story about learning to trust and love again with an appropriate amount of steamy tension thrown in. And just when you feel that the story is about to wrap up you look down and notice that you still have more than half a book to go. Boom! That’s when the excitement starts.
If you like a hunky seal man (and apparently I do) then this one is a must read. I can’t wait to dig into the next book!

I cannot tell you how much I loved this book. I loved everything about it.... the drama, the action, the romance, and even the fantasy. If you haven't read it yet, you are really missing out.
