I'm confused and a bit scared..

So Piggies follows Ben, a teenager who finds himself in a parallel universe when walking home from his friend's house. In that universe, everyone is a vampire and feasting on each other's blood is perfectly normal. But when the people find out Ben's not a vampire, they plan to harvest him for his blood, and he runs into the woods when he meets other people like him who are called 'ferals' in this world. How did Ben get here, can he survive and can he get back home?

This was an interesting take on the vampire genre. It was very short and I think there was potential for a lot more development in the plot and definitely less of a rushed ending. The darker themes make it quite a disturbing read at times but the rushed ending, plot holes and the many questions I still have from the ending only make it a three stars.
I read this when I was thirteen and I have to say that while it has some huge faults, it was, at the time, a new and wonderfully different take on the vampire genre. The characters weren't particularily well written, but I didn't hate them. They were certainly "human", for lack of a better word even if they weren't that memorable.

What really irritated me was the way in which the main character gets transported to and from the alternate universe, without any explanation as to why or how that happ
The writing of this book is definitely rocky and somewhat amateurish, but the utterly disturbing plot gave me a completely new insight into the vampire trend when I read this. I demolished it in one sitting, having borrowed it from my best friend - the vampire fanatic who I've mentioned before - who, in a coincidence, owned this book due to her obsession with vampires and recognised it immediately when I said I'd heard about it online and thought it was my thing. It was a very hot day during whi ...more
This story is good but it felt not complete. The story could have been fleshed out better with more of the story with more details. I felt like this was half a story. I did enjoy the idea of ending up in a world that is similar to what you remember but different in the people who occupy. I do not know what I would do if someone wanted to drink my blood and being feral. I felt sorry for Ben the woodlands people are treating him really bad. I think he is only trying to understand and he is behavin ...more
Piggies is different to other vampire books I have read. It was an interesting take on the vampire genre. It's quite a short read so could be read in an afternoon.
The characters were all pretty decent. I didn't dislike the way in which any of them were presented and I didn't love any of them either.
At first I felt that things were a little confusing, I had no idea what was going on. Eventually some of my confusion was fixed. There was a slight twist at the end that wasn't really anything to writ

I read this book when I was younger, and for me, it revealed a dark sense of humour I was only just realizing I possessed.

The book centres around an alternate universe where vampires are the norm, and normal humans are hunted for sport - and for their blood.

For the age range this book is aimed at, it's pretty much perfect! Gory and with a sense of danger, but just not too much.

This was a great book. I had won a copy of this book awhile ago and had other books that I had checked out at the library that had a bit of a deadline for completion. However once I started "Piggies", I just couldn't stop. I am a huge fan of vampire literature and this book did not disappoint.
