I was given a copy of this book to review in exchange for an honest review. Kasha has been taken and has no idea where she is or how she got there. She doesn't know why she was taken or who took her. She is kept in darkness and can not figure out what is going on or what they want from her. Kasha finds out that she has a secret that these people seem to know but she was never told. While she's being kept though, some things are starting to happen that are very odd. She "meets" a mysterious stran ...more

Knock Your Books Off was recently given the chance to read an ARC of Taken, the 1st book in the 'Breaking The Darkness' Trilogy by Felicia Starr. It was unique in every way possible. Felicia Starr, allowed her story to unfold in a one of a kind way, and paid lots of attention to detail. She has an amazing way of putting you inside the story and connecting you to the characters.

This book is absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Felicia Starr did a wonderful job drawing you into this intriguing story of Kasha, a seemingly normal human girl, who is kidnapped and held prisoner in a dark room with no idea why she is there or who has taken her. She soon discovers the reasons are more than anything to do with the human world and that she herself may not be quite as normal as the life she has lived and known. Felicia has done a brilliant job weaving a tale in first perso ...more

Time to get hooked on another fabulous series!

First of all, I must say it has been an honor and a joy to work with Felicia on this book. From the very start, I knew she had an incredible talent for writing, and this debut novel is just the beginning of a long and successful career for her.

Felicia does an amazing job drawing the reader into Kasha’s world. Every character—even the bad ones—is relatable and so well developed. Through a series of memories, thoughts, and astral projections, we are en

I have to say first of all that this was probably one of the most eloquently written books that I have ever read. Felicia definitely has a gift for writing. Second of all, this book was phenomenal. I wasn't sure what to expect when I read this book, but I was surprised nonetheless. This book has a complete sense of originality and I haven't really read anything like it before. It was really refreshing to read something that was so unique and different. I really enjoy feeling like I am learning s ...more

I thought this story starts off very slowly and stays that way for some time. Yet, the information you read during that time is somewhat important. The author could have very well briefly mentioned the important information as it came later in the story. But the concept of the rest of the story is very interesting. I will most likely read the sequel because I liked the concept so much.

Fantastic new Author! Bravo!

Taken is officially on my list of favorites. I have not been this fired up by a new Author in a while.

I found myself hooked from the beginning pages of Taken. I had no clue where it would go or how it would end, but each page was more gripping than the next.
Although Kasha begins out powerless through circumstance, she is far from a weak protagonist. She has neither knowledge as to why she is contained, nor a clue as to her captors' motives. In fact, she finds out t

If your looking for a paranormal story that is not like any other, this book is for you!
I could not put the book down. A roller coaster ride of emotions and plains of reality. Outer body experiences, dream state fantasies, harsh reality, speaking with the dead. Kasha has no clue of how her life got flipped in an instant. Her Gram kept secrets from her, a mother that dropped out of her life into her own darkness. An older couple who keep records of family history, human and not. A gorgeous man t

This is going to be a GREAT paranormal series! And I'm already hooked! From the very start of book I was caught up in the story of Kasha. She wakes to find herself in a completely dark space with no idea where she is, how she got there, why she is being held or how to get out. You follow Kasha as she searches for answers as to why she has been taken and she tries to find a way out.

Amazing new paranormal series. The author did an excellent job of luring me into the story and her style of writing just flowed so flawlessly. The character Kasha is a young woman who is suddenly kidnapped and held prisoner in a dark room. She is being threatened by Ziona who works for THE TAKER. They are demanding to known her gifts - Kasha doesn't understand what they want from her and this story is her journey to enlightenment about the world as she knows it and about the secrets that she may ...more

Besides the fact that Felicia Starr Frame received months of publicity and book promotion services and refuses to pay for them, I do have a little something to say about her debut novel..

I think Felicia Starr Frame had potential as an novelist until she thought she could publish a book once a month. Her creativity hit a severe downward spiral after that.

I think it's obvious. Readers will love (or at least like) what authors write when the author loves the story but when the author is just throwi

The story begins with little more than a dark room but Felicia Starr gains momentum in her writing as the story progresses and I soon found myself hooked. The vivid imagery makes you feel like you've actually been to the places she describes in the book. There are so many unexpected twists and turns that you never know what to expect. Once I got to know the characters I found myself thinking about them at times when I wasn't even reading the book. I couldn't wait to get back to this world Ms Sta ...more

This was a great Paranormal. It was well written and had me turning the pages. I liked it and can't wait to read the next book. The story held my attention with the mystery. My only warning it ends with a cliffhanger!

The cover first attracted me to this book, as it is absolutely stunning! I then read the synopsis and I was intrigued, but I wasn't sure if I was actually going to enjoy it as it sounded very different to what I normally read! I took a chance on it though and after reading it, I'm still not sure what to think about it lol! It was definitely different to what I was expecting! I was extremely intrigued by this story from the very first page. A million questions flooded my mind the more the story developed, and I was excited to find the answers. Why was Kasha imprisoned? By whom? What powers did she possess? Could she really trust anyone? and so on they went.

This book was uniquely written in the fact that many of Kasha's interactions with other characters were through her astral projection.

The suspense of whether she'd ever escape her prison, or whether her captors wo

This is a must read. I have the honor of reading a little bit of this book earlier this year and it turned out AMAZING! I couldn't put it down and I was so glad that I was able to call mom and talk to her about it. I mean we start off and we don't have any clue where Kasha is and it just goes from there...

Oh wow. This story truly had it all; danger, despair, torture, love, friendship, hate, manipulation, dreams, hope, magic and supernatural beings.
We follow Kasha in her imprisonment, she has absolutely no idea where she is, or why someone have taken her. She can barely remember what happened before she was kidnapped. In the beginning there are nothing but darkness, some food from time to time, and Kasha can’t do much but to rest and sleep. If she didn’t, she would go insane.

I won't lie, a good portion of this book can be somewhat depressing. Kasha is kidnapped, has no idea where she is or how she got there, no idea what they truly want and has no clue about the powers they insist she must have. She is kept in complete darkness, she is threatened, abused and has no idea who is lying and telling her the truth. The book jumps into her abduction immediately so the reader slowly learns what the world is like and the characters involved.

* I received an ebook in exchange for an honest review. *

This book starts with a bang (of a door that Kasha can't see) and keeps the readers attention throughout the entire story. The reader gets their first "glimpse" of Kasha when she is able to astro-project to escape the dark confines of the prison she is currently being held in. Author Felicia Starr is able to weave a story that is rich in details, high in excitement and full of mystery, drama and maybe just a bit of romance.

I went into Taken totally blind I had no idea what this amazing book was about. I actually thought it was a whitches book but it was more than that. I won't go into too much details about it. This books starts in the dark and continues that way for a while. Don't worry though, there is plenty of action in it, interspersed with moments of quiet - I won't say peace - that will help you feel the character's emotions as she tries to figure out just what is going on.

Kasha is told that she is being held as she has 'powers' but she has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. She has lived the life of 'average

General: Overall Taken is a complicated and layered book with a wonderful story to tell. I loved the originality of the story behind Kasha. There are so many out there where a teen finds out they have magical powers but Felicia Starr didn't fall into the trap of being "the same". This is really a dark book at it's core that made me have emotional reactions to Kasha and her story that I really enjoyed. The book is told quite a bit i

Taken is a well-rounded story with the perfect blend of paranormal, mystery and suspense. I was able to completely lose myself in this page-turner. The main character, Kasha, was such a treat. I was just as mystified as she was as she discovers her powers. The author’s attention to detail in visual and emotional description was so vivid I had felt I was right there with Kasha. The secondary characters really make this story complete, especially the unexpected villains. Or shall I say the unpredi ...more

Apparently she has a secret or something powerful and the people who took her want it. Kasha has no idea what they are talking about. She is normal! No powers or secrets. As the days run into each other, Kasha starts to experience weird things. Trying to figure out what’s going with her, she starts seeing a guy in her dreams. He seems so real bu ...more
