The Knight's Prisoner
KIDNAPPED AND CARRIED OFF FOR WHAT SHE KNOWS Danewyn, a tavern prostitute, has always been cursed with the Sight--the ability to see into the unknown. It is a trait she has learned to keep hidden from others, but a moment of anger finds her blurting out a prediction about the Red Fox, the rightful king of Briton. Unfortunately, her prediction is overheard by one of the Red Fox's men, putting her in grave danger.
Captured and carried off for questioning, she finds herself prisoner to Sir Ferrum, an enormous knight who bears the scars of an old injury upon his face. She finds Sir Ferrum to be firm and unyielding, but his treatment of her also reveals a gentleness which she has difficulty reconciling with his harsh discipline. To her dismay, her feelings for him continue to grow, and Dani must decide whether to continue her plans for escape or accept her new role as Sir Ferrum's woman and Seer to the Red Fox.

I'm very conflicted on this one. It's very far out of my usual comfort zone. However, there were elements I liked. And, for erotica, it had a pretty good back story. Actually it's rare that there actually IS a back story.
The heroine being an actual prostitute thing was different for me. When I read the audible blurb, I assumed she was a "tavern wench" in the sense that she worked in the tavern but refused to service customers and was actually somehow miraculously still a virgin. I've seen that one done before, multiple times... seriously.
But, nope, she was the real thing. A prostitute who willingly serviced multiple men a night and by all accounts made the best of it. There were things said that made you believe she probably had little choice in her lifestyle, but she didn't come off as a victim, which I kind of appreciated actually. She was a survivor and did what she had to do. To her, sex was a job and not something she had an emotional connection to (until the hero). However, her ideas about sex and fidelity caused problems between her and the H.
This was Arthurian England. Arthur was dead and his lost son was trying to take the throne. It had the feel of a medieval. London was mentioned a lot. I'm not even sure there was a London back then?? I'm not an expert on that time period, but I guarantee you there were zillions of liberties taken.
Fine.
I generally give erotica a pass on historical accuracy.
However, since Rose wasn't all into authenticity, why couldn't she have given a nod to cleanliness? Even if it wasn't a big thing at that time. There are several scenes where I'm thinking 'my God, please take a bath first!'. Of course, people have various kinks when it comes to erotica and this may be one. I'm not judging. As long as you leave kids and animals out of it, have fun. Doesn't mean I enjoy it, but I'm not here to censure anyone else's enjoyment. Keeping that in mind, here's just one example of the "ick factor" for me. Make your own judgement.
The night the hero abducts the heroine she voluntarily gives him oral sex. He's thinking while she's doing it that even though he had a whore a couple of hours before she made him feel incredibly horny (paraphrase). Ummm... I'm pretty sure there was no washing off of his privates between the "whore" and the oral several hours later. Who knows when the woman he was with last bathed or how many other men she'd been with that night? Or when was the last time he or the heroine last bathed? I don't think I'm a germ freak, but I honestly had a bad smell in my nose the entire time :(
I tried to pretend they had a shower out back that was conveniently never mentioned ;)

My favorite by this author so far. Hot spankfic that pairs a scarred giant with a tiny blond whore...a real one. This author totally rocks with how she combines two of my favs: historical romance with D/s concepts. Gah, I'm in heaven. Nope, not everyone's cuppa, but if it's your's, you'll find what you're looking for.

This is a short erotica with a sadistic H with lots of spanking (with a hand and a belt. Dom/sub genre).
For an erotica, I thought the book had some depth, so I gave it 4 stars.
Safety: it also had a cheating heroine. She cheats once to help him.
Since the heroine was a whore, and she’s been one for many years, sleeping with men meant absolutely nothing to her. It was like taking a piss.
But he loved her, and walked in on her riding another guy …🫢
““Look, I've always been a whore. You just didn't want to believe it of me,” she said, her voice strained.
He grabbed her by the shoulders and shook her once. “No. That's not it,” he gritted out. “That's not it at all.” He picked her up by squeezing her upper arms into her torso until she was eye to eye with him. “I don't care about what you've been.”
Her chin was thrust forward, but her lips trembled. “You're jealous, then? Surely you know he meant nothing to me! I did it for the men—for your men!”
He shook her again, and her dangling legs danced with the movement. “Aye. I saw how it meant nothing to you. I imagine I meant nothing to you, either.”
Anger crossed her face. “How can you say that?” she demanded, spit flying in fury, tears spilling as she spoke. “That's what you really think? Truly? I should not be surprised. You never believed in what I offered you. I guess in your eyes a whore is not capable of love. Is that what you think?”
Pain seared in his chest. He stared at her, torn by his anger and some new hope seeping through. He wanted to throw her down and walk swiftly away, but he couldn't move. He couldn't look away. The depth of pain in her eyes matched his own. He faltered. Mayhap he'd been wrong.
“Or do you think your scars make you un-loveable?” she asked in a soft and dangerous tone.
He set her down on the ground, feeling dizzy. Something in him had just cracked open, and the flood of conflicting emotion was too strong.
“You were always planning to escape,” he accused her, trying to find solid ground. How could he believe in love from someone who wanted to leave?
“But I didn't,” she pleaded, weeping openly. “When I walked in that tavern, I felt sick, Ferrum. And I knew my place was with you.”
The world tilted and righted itself, and he felt the ground more solidly under his feet. A full breath filled his chest for the first time all day. “I thought you were mine.” His voice cracked on the last word, and tears filled his eyes momentarily before he blinked them back angrily. Her eyes widened and she opened and closed her mouth with a look of shock. He cursed himself inwardly for showing her emotion like that.
But her eyes filled with tears as well. “That's what I'm telling you—I am yours,” she whispered. “I'm sorry, Ferrum,” she said, looking genuinely pained. “I didn't think about how—” she swallowed, “—how my servicing another man would affect you.”
It hadn't occurred to him she wouldn't understand fidelity. But he supposed someone who had given her body to hundreds of men might not attach the same meaning to it he did. He rubbed her arms where he'd kbeen holding her, fearing suddenly he had left bruises. “How could you not know you were mine?” he asked, but his voice was forgiving.
She dashed at her tears with the back of her hand and shrugged. “I don't know—I never imagined anyone would want me.”
He believed her, but it was the stupidest thing he'd ever heard in his life. “But Dani, I told you that you were mine. Many times. Did you not know that meant mine alone?”
She shook her head. “I don't know—I just never thought you meant anything by it. Are you saying you'd have me… as your…” she trailed off uncertainly.
He cupped her face in his hands. “My wife? Aye. Would you have me, little flower?”
She nodded silently, tears still running down her pale cheeks.
He pulled her head toward him and kissed the top of it before folding it into his chest. “I'll kill any man who

Very good historical (think King Arthur and Camelot) about a whore who is actually a seer and a huge scarred man in service to the hopeful King. I enjoyed both the characters and found it was so interesting when he offers to give up control to her. They both have to think about not being perfect people and what that means. The capture scenario was pretty hot and boy did he punish. That man was relentless. Of course she loved it (this is romance after all) even when she hated it. Spanking was hot hot hot. The story has a real plot and there are political machinations happening that keep all characters in their grip. Really though it is what happens between two people here that is front and center. Dani is so conflicted that she fights things and Ferrum does not know what to make of her. They stick with what they have in common which is more than superficial - and it makes for a very enjoyable read. I wish there was more historical stories like this one!
P.S. I know author's don't choose covers and this one is fine as cover's go but completely misses the mark with the characters. It is a bit of a shame because the author has drawn them pretty vividly in the book. I would have liked to have a cover that represented them!

A fantastic story, with adventure, romance, growth beyond imperfections, eroticism and lots of spankings.
Danewyn and Sir Ferrum, a village prostitute, and a Knight. One with a scarred heart, another with a scarred face. Both with the strength to take on a King.
Set in medieval times, Danewyn, a tavern prostitute with a special gift of “Sight”, suddenly finds herself held captive by a large, battle scarred Knight, Sir Ferrum, commander of the Army of the Red Fox, the rightful King of Britain. She had angrily blurted out her “vision” about the Red Fox to one of the King’s soldiers, and Sir Ferrum had overheard.
Ferrum promises not to hurt Dani, if she cooperates, and proves his compassion by protecting and caring for her, eventually falling in love with her. He takes her to the Red Fox, the rightful King of Britain, who offers to make her his official “seer”. Dani really has no choice but to accept the position. It’s either “royal seer” or camp whore.
Ferrum is battled hardened, strong, fierce, and loyal to his leader, Prince Phillip - the Red Fox. He is a huge man, a fighter, once considered handsome. But now, he is considered less desirable because of the scarring on his face. He is aggressive, intelligent, a warrior through and through. But he is also kind, caring, and gentle, as evidenced in his treatment of Dani.
In her first punishment, for lying, Dani is given a very sound spanking by Ferrum, where he sets the ground rules for lying and escape attempts. He thrashes her hard, but also makes sure he doesn’t hurt her. His goal is one of teaching, not of demeaning or breaking. This sets the tone for him as her protector.
Dani is a strong, beautiful, intelligent young woman, who has “senses” or “sights” of events to come. She had always had to hide her special talent. It had been judged as devilry by the church, and she had been beaten and shunned the few times she had shown herself. She had entered a life of prostitution when other avenues were taken from her early on .Even though she hates this life, she doesn’t let it bring her down. She is a fighter, she is resilient, and she is “street smart”. And she uses all of these assets to her advantage. But she finally meets her match in Ferrum. Dani accepts her first punishment well, even thanking Ferrum for not going too hard on her, showing him how hard life has been for her.
Ferrum becomes Dani’s protector and lover. But it takes a while for them to both trust their own feelings, and each other. Both coming from harsh pasts, it is easy to see how their “scars” affect their lives. But it was quite enjoyable to watch them grow. Ferrum, does not do well when speaking to ladies, and accidentally puts his foot in his mouth several times with Dani. This was a great way to see some of Ferrum’s imperfections in a lighter note. I loved seeing Dani’s chin thrust out, her eyes darkened and angry, while he ran his fingers through his hair in frustration, saying “Oh crap, did I say that?” (He did not actually use those words. This is medieval times, remember. ) But he also has the ability to build her up with his words. Several times, he explains to her that her sight makes her special, better than what she is doing to herself. He does not see her as a whore. And he expects her to start seeing her worth also. This is the point where I officially fell in love with Ferrum.
Little things like this helped solidify their building relationship. Their sex was already hot, volatile, and explosive. The spankings were commanding, hard, and boundary setting; while some were erotic and sexy as hell. The relationship between them – Ferrum, the Dominant, and Dani, the strong willed, submitting only because she had to, was very interesting. While Dani was attracted to Ferrum, and was finally enjoying the sex that had once been so robotic and meaningless, she also couldn’t fully accept that he was commanding her to stay with the Red Fox Army. She hated not having a choice in the matter. She despised her submission to Ferrum’s punishments. It went against everything she had ever known. Her strength and unyielding had been what had kept her alive for so long. And now this huge, handsome, scarred man, whom she was attracted to in every way, was commanding that she yield, and lose that part that had most protected her.
One of my favorite scenes is a role reversal scene. After some bitter arguments over Ferrum’s leadership, Ferrum offers to let Dani be in charge of him. He agrees to obey her, and accept whatever she doles out, as long as it doesn’t interfere with the Prince’s orders. Since Dani is sick of obeying, and even more so sick of being punished, she accepts his idea. She thinks she will do a better job in charge, and thinks the power will make her happy. She also thinks that Ferrum is too proud of a man to completely yield, and this will give her new power when he fails at his task. She pushes him hard, calling him “slave”, commanding him, demanding his sex and submission. She thrashes him a few times, and even tries to embarrass him by sending him on a task, naked. But he still allows it. Ferrum knows that she will finally understand the difference between power and leadership. It’s just a matter of time. This is one of the sexiest scenes I have ever read in any story.
This scene made him even more masculine than he had already been. His submission to her for this brief moment, was based on his own power and his willingness to let her see for herself, instead of forcing a teaching point on her. He could have been a jerk that always forced himself, and his authority on her; or he could have yielded to her strength, and let her emasculate him. He did neither. He gave her exactly what she thought she wanted, and let her figure out for herself that dominance wasn’t about forcing someone to bend to your will.
The rest of the scene was so well done. I won’t give it away. But it was fantastic. And it made me see Ferrum, as an even greater man. It also helped Dani to grow, and she became even more likable as a strong heroine, who finally understood their struggle for power.
They finally accepted their love for each other, though they still had to work on some trust issues. But love was definitely, no longer an issue.
There was also a great amount of action, plotting, scheming, fighting- all the things that make for a great action romance. Actually, this would make a great movie. It had everything in it. Action, fighting, a dominant main character, a strong female main character, flaws that are overcome, love, some lighter, humorous scenes, personal growth, hot sex, non-consensual and consensual spankings, erotic spankings and sex. This story was amazing, and I loved every bit of it!
The only thing that threw me for a loop was the cover. It did not really show the characters how they are portrayed in the book. I know this is not the author’s fault, but I just wanted to make a small note of it.
5 stars for a fantastic book. Great writing, very likeable characters, a fast paced, and very enjoyable read.

This was quite different from Ms Rose's other works that I've read, but it was engaging. Dani is bold and spirited. She is thrust into an unfortunate position as a captive due to a slip of the tongue. Ferrum is the man assigned to watch over her and over time they develop a close bond. The punishments in these books are usually about obedience and exerting dominance, but this one was especially interesting because Ferrum lets her flip the status quo and take a whip to his skin. Dani's Sight sometimes seemed a little too clear - aren't visions supposed to be rather vague? - but overall it was a good story.

Another amazing story by Renee Rose. Five stars hands down for the plot, interaction, and originality.
This was a very busy tale with lots of things going on in the plot and subplot though I could not connect with Sir Ferrum. I did not like the way he treated Dani, some of the spankings seemed not to fit the crime. Our lovely former prostitute is so tough on the outside and can detach for her job so it seemed that he really needed to lay into her to punish. I know that he was hard on himself due to his scars and being a very large man but I thought he could be more tender.
Must say though, the role reversal was extremely hot in all the ways that it implies. I felt like I was reading a form of light BDSM before the term was invented due to the power play that occurred. Their intimate scenes were also so hot! Very very hot especially with her reactions. Mainly because the reactions were from someone who has made intercourse her day job so it really shows how little pleasure she has received in her life!
I did find it hard to really focus on Dani due to the cover image. It may just be me, but she was described as a Saxon with long, light blond hair in detail so much so that I felt the cover photo gave you an image that you couldn't help but keep in mind while reading. Very lovely cover, the hair could have been lightened and done wonders to keep her true to the way she was painted.
Renee scores again with this romantic historical read. Just can not get enough of this awesome author! Waiting with baited breath for the next title.

You ever read a book that you really enjoy, think "4 stars!" then get sick of it part way, think "crap, 2 stars", then keep reading, cuz you need to finish it, then question yourself all over again? If so, get your meds checked, your hormones checked... OR you are me!
This book did that to me. I started out enjoying it and I did enjoy much of the book, despite the fact that it had spanking, hard unpleasant spanking which I personally do not find erotic. There was enough other good 'stuff' to like about the book that I could overlook the stupid discipline stuff (i.e. spanking). But past the 1/2 mark it seemed repetitive in some ways, started to get aggravating.
But I've been a little grumpy lately, and I decided to cut the author some slack; after all, I was entertained by the book, and I did finish it.
If you enjoy a historic novel, you may enjoy this particular story. On the upside there is an erotic romance/love story central to the book.
I think my problem with the book was too much spanking, repetitive use of spanking, and that just doesn't float my boat, baby. Your mileage may vary.

Second Sight 👀 For The Red Fox🐶
I had read this wonderful historical XXX Romance💕 with BDSM 👋👋 Elements a year or two ago, which takes place just after the turbulent time of King Arthur. Now, rereading it, it has certainly withstood the test of time.
A huge scarred knight, Sir Ferrum🐺🍆⛲🔪👋💪, the foster brother to 👑Prince Philip, the Red Fox🐶 and true 👑King, overhears Danewyn💃💋, a street prostitute in London, telling a soldier from the opposing side, " the Red Fox will rise! "
Sir Ferrum🐺🍆⛲🔪👋 takes her prisoner, assuming she is a spy. In actuality, Danewyn💃💋 has the second sight 👀. She usually hides her abilities as a seer because she would probably be burned🔥 as a witch!
Danewyn tells Prince Philip👑🐶 and Sir Ferrum🐺🍆⛲🔪 lie after lie to try to protect herself, but it only earns her spanking👋 after spanking👋from Sir Ferrum🐺🍆⛲🔪👋. He is her protector and warden in the army camp, and begins to have feelings for her, despite her repeated attempts to escape.
Sir Ferrum is an accomplished spankmeister👋👋!

i loved this story it was an awesome combination of camelot and beauty and the beast. i mean beauty and the beast in the sense that Ferrum sees himself as a beast and that nobody could want him because of how he looks. Danewyn is taken prisoner for her Seer abilities and wishes only to go home. Along the way she plans her escapes and tries several times but she is always found or pulled back by some vision. along the way she discovers love and that somebody wants her for herself and not only what is under her dress and acceptance and belief in her for her visions as a Seer.
this story has great world building and characters it will be 1 of my favorites to read and reread time and again. I hope Renee Rose revisits this world again i would love to read more about the characters in this book. I would really like to know more about Phillip and Edwin.

Historical romance with a Renee Rose twist.
I love Renee Rose's quirky characters. They light up what otherwise can be somewhat tired romance tropes. This is a captive/enemies to lovers story, but there's nothing tired about it. Dani is a unique character, who has made her way through the world any way she can, including on her back. I loved the way this played out in the story and how both Dani and Ferrum came to terms with it in their different ways. Ferrum is more typical character: the scarred, forbidding, formidable knight with a heart of gold, but in a perfect Renee Rose twist, he's not the leader of the rebels but rather second in command and his loyalty to the prince really makes his character shine.
I loved this story and as always, look forward to more from this author.

A wonderful historic romance story - not my preferred genre although this book has converted me! Loved the story of Dani who is ordered to be taken captive by Ferrum after overheating her premonition regarding his leader, the Red Fox. A power play ensues which is certainly hot, but what I loved was Ferrums character - he has a real sweetness and caring aspect to him whilst also being commanding - a heady combination. He struggles to accept Dani’s past when she is trying to help but surely love will win the day...... Beautifully written by Renee Rose, this author is a must buy for me. I’ll now be seeking out some more of her historical romances!

This book definitely shows how far the author has grown since her earliest works. It’s a quick little read and I enjoyed the story. It’s just missing a little bit of the… flair (?) that can be found in her current books. I loved Ferrum. The only issue I have with him is that he would occasionally punish before explaining what rule had been broken. I’m not so cool with that. I think I understand Dani’s character, but there are some actions that she takes that I just can’t support even if they are important and relevant to the larger story. This book was a fun way to spend an hour.

This is an amazing story! This is the first historical story that I have read by Renee Rose and I can’t wait to read more. I love her other work so much!
Dani is a Seer in the time after King Arthur. She tries to keep her gift a secret but she slipped one evening. She is kidnapped and taken to the Red Fox. He is the rightful heir to the throne. Ferrum is his foster brother and is put in charge of her. They two share something and over time Dani stops wanting to leave him. Will they be able to work out their differences?

Danewyn is a simple tavern wench when she is overheard spouting tales about the Red Fox. Sir Ferrum, the soul brother to the Prince abducts her and brings her back to camp. Danewyn has the sight and when the Red Fox questions her, he knows truth from lies and sets Sir Ferrum to discipline her. There are many corrective spankings and hot sex as they struggle with affection and fighting. One scene in particular set me to thinking hard about being submissive when the fierce Sir Ferrum allows Danewyn to take control, Hot, Hot, Hot!! I loved the sweet and thoughtful Sir Ferrum who did what was needed doing, while still treating Danewyn fairly.

Danewyn is a lowly tavern wench with the gift to see the unknown, she keeps it a secret fearing the village priests. When she makes a prediction that is overhead, she is taken and questioned. Sir Ferrum plans to get the truth from Danewyn even if he must punish her for trying to run away. What will happen as sparks fly between them. Fast-paced, steamy medieval romance. Please note the warning as this may not be for everyone. A hot and steamy read! I liked it.

This was a historical novel that centered on the submission of Dani to Ferrum. Ferrum is a solder in the Red Fox's army as he tries to take England's throne. Dani is taken prisoner since she has the gift of sight and the Red Fox feels she can help him take the throne.
Ferrum uses bondage and spanking to get Dani to submit to him.
While I enjoyed this story I felt it was a bit repetitive. Ferrum always resorted to spanking. I wanted him to get more creative in his punishment to get her to submit to him.
Overall a good story and worth reading!

Her stern Knight...
Danewyn is a prostitute working out of a local tavern, she’s also a seer which she hides for self preservation. She slips and is overheard stating a premonition. She is snatched up by Ferrum, is a scarred warrior working to retake the throne for the rightful prince, Philip. Much to her chagrin, they decide to keep Dani as the Royal Seer. All she can think about is escape as they both re-evaluate their self worth until she finally loses her heart to Ferrum.

A Delightful Story of Knights and Kings!!
Danewyn says more than she should in a fit of temper. She normally kept her visions and prescient results to herself, but her “customer” had annoyed her. She quickly finds herself kidnapped by Sir Ferrum and the Seer of the Red Fox.
In a time of medieval battles, the reader is transported back to this brutal time. Great characters and thoroughly entertaining antics.
A terrific read!

I loved Danewyn and Ferrum's story.
In a time of war and brutality two people, scarred in their own ways are brought together by fate and premonition.
One a whore, one a Knight, both will provide aid to the Red Fox.
Out of captivity arises desire, which will become love and provide fealty to not only the man she loves but also to the future king.
Chemistry, heat, danger, battles, fate, new beginnings and opportunities, some paranormal elements, great characters and a compelling story line make this a great read!

I love stories set in the medieval time period. This one did not disappoint. I love a good heroine who knows her mind and fights for herself and those she loves. All aspects of the story were very well developed and captivated me. Lots of delicious spankings and HOT sex scenes! Yum, Yum, Yum!

Short story that made me want to read more. Lots and lots of spanking but it was done very well. Personally, I typically read more of the historical romance and not too many of the erotica books. I then attempted to read "Pleasing the Colonel" but sadly it wasn't my cup of tea.

Oh, Ferrum you handsome devil you. Great story.
I love the length of the stories because I can immerse myself in them and finish quite quickly with such a nice ending. Well, worth the reads.

Very mixed feelings about this one. I somewhat enjoyed majority of the book, sort of. There was a very inappropriate spanking kink, that didn’t make any sense and female heroine was a scaredy shaking leaf, being “punished” on every turn, but ML and the prince actually treated her quite good, if I close one eye a forgive the weirdness. FL even gets to a willing conclusion she wants to stay with her captors rather than escape.
But then things get really weird really fast. Whole book is basically about her relationship with the knight, but suddenly near the end of the book her vision of the future changes, What?
I was kinda disappointed the majority of the book was actually without any kind of plot, only for all of the plot to suddenly happen at the very end in a fast forward manner and the plot not making much sense on top of that. Wasted potential in this one.

Run No More
Dani is kidnapped by the Red Fox. She has the gift of sight and she helps his army. Her keeper is Ferrum, the fiercest knight. They have to go through some trials and tribulations. But they always end with Dani getting spanked. But guess what? You have to read the book for more. I recommend this book highly.

An interesting back story, with this one, of the time between Roman Britain and the Anglo - Saxon times.
Set against this background is a tavern prostitute with the second sight and the step brother to the heir to Camelot. A great pairing and a nicely written in book set in this time.
A spankalicious book that we can expect from Renee Rose.
