This anthology ran the gamut from one of the best short stories I've read in a long time - Sharon Sala's "It Happened One Night" to one of the worst short stories I've EVER read - Dixie Browning's "Marrying a Millionaire". Fortunately, Stella Bagwell's story, "The Bride's Big Adventure" finished this anthology strong so I gave this book a high rating.

The main problem with Dixie Browning's contribution is that she calls this a romance - there isn't any. The couple in question - I guess they would be considered the h/h but you wouldn't know it from their interactions with each other which are either as employee to employer or as sister/uncle to the secondary characters which brought them together in the first place. They only "think" about each other in a romantic light until the very last chapter when all of a sudden they profess their love for one another. Unbelievable!

With that said, it's definitely worth getting this book if only to read Sharon Sala's contribution. Absolutely GREAT - this author gave so much personality to the main characters which is hard to do considering it is a short story. This story has HEART!

As mentioned, Stella Bagwell's story rounds out this anthology very well.

My review is based on Sharon Sala's story called “It Happened One Night”.

Harley Jane Beaumont traveled to Las Vegas to attend a friend's wedding. Little did she know, Harley would be the person who ended up with a wedding ring. Waking up with a hangover next to a stranger named Sam was a surprise. But the marriage license with her name on it was a shock. Harley quickly leaves Las Vegas and her new husband behind. But Sam wasn't that easy to shake. He follows her to her home and persuades her to move to his home in Oklahoma and give marriage a try.

Nice story, but no surprises. I liked Sam from the beginning and loved the way he handled his new mother-in-law. My rating: 3.5 Stars.
