Just as the best coaches remind their players to practice the basics of their sport, Christian couples need to be reminded regularly of the basics of a Christian marriage. In a clear, down-to-earth style, Martha Peace and John Crotts provide these reminders through short chapters that couples can read, study, and pray over together.
The authors have broken down nineteen areas of marriage, summing up the Bible's teaching and offering a series of penetrating questions to help readers take inventory of themselves and their marriage. Each section ends with two recommended resources for readers who want to dig deeper in a particular area.
Martha Peace is a biblical counselor with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors. She is the author of many books and speaks and teaches nationally and internationally.
Highly recommend. Easy, bite sized chapters that are full of sweet truths to chew on. I loved the questions at the end of each chapter to help you think through what was said and the recommended reading was a plus. Each chapter also ends with a prayer to help you continue to renew your mind.
Great marriage book! While each chapter is only a couple pages. Each chapter is packed with helpful information/advice and probing questions that I believe are helpful for growth for a married couple. I see my wife and I rereading this many times. Thank you John Crotts and Martha Peace for this book both in you two writing it and giving it to us as a wedding gift.
My husband and I loved this book. The short chapters made it accessible to accomplish even with busy lives. The discussion questions were also great at fostering meaningful conversations.
This was a valuable book to read through and engage as a couple as well as discuss with our Sunday school group. It did not bring a lot of new knowledge or insight, but the reminders were good, it was convicting for areas I fall short, and some of the discussion it prompted was helpful in fostering communication as a couple.
