I was given an ARC of this book by the author for an honest review. Posted below is my review as seen on stephaniesbookreports.blogspot.com

Let me start by saying abuse of any kind is nothing anyone should put up with. If you're in a physically or verbally abusive relationship you are better than what your significant other is telling you and you need to believe in yourself enough to get out and move on. The abuser needs help. But like any other individual with issues, unless they're willing to d

ARC provided by author for an honest review!

Good debut novel. I like that fact that Nickie decided to tackle an issue that doesn't much attention in our genre. Physical abuse should in no way, shape, or form, ever be tolerated. PERIOD!

Emma Dunn, moved to FL to be with her fiance, even though her meddling mother didn't want her to. When she up and leaves him, due to his physical abuse, she moves back home to Chicago to live with her brother and put the pieces of her broken life back together.

What a book! I really enjoyed this book and its characters all of them. The one thing that totally reached out and touched my heart was the truth about domestic violence.

Emma is such a wonderful person whom has gone through hell and back. She moves back home and in with her brother. She doesn't share much with others. She lives in fear and worry. She meets sweet loving Nate and sexy to top it off. Nate will do anything to protect her but she is always hiding her past and what she is ashamed of.

Must've read a different book than some of the other readers. Described by some as hot? Huh, not so much. Book was all over the place. Felt as if it was written by a teenager for teenagers. Main character was weak and whiny. Massive descriptions about her long blonde hair and how it was styled. References to thanking God? Pregnancy -- then a gloss over of miscarriage, wedding... ...more

"When I looked in the mirror, I saw a broken woman."

The way "A Lucky Second Chance" begins, pretty much sets the pace for the entire book. And let me tell you, it's a fast one full of secrets and plot twists.

The female lead character, Emma Dunn, is basically escaping from the sad reality her life had become. Leaving everything behind in Florida, she heads back home to Chicago, where her very hot and suc

I like books that deals with social issues, especially when it's as sensitive and is not given that much attention as domestic violence.

I'd admit that I had a hard time reading through the pages at first with elaborate descriptions and narrations. I struggled a bit and finally adjusted with the pacing of the book. Good thing, I kept on going and opted to give it a chance, because I really want to know what will happen to Emma. The struggle was worth it.

I couldn't say I like Emma at first. But

After moving to Florida and closing them all out she ends up needing them more than she thought. Thanks to her brother who takes her in after she finds the strength to leave an abusive relationship. Almost from the moment she starts her new life she is being swept off her feet.

So, I recently finished A Lucky Second Chance by author Nickie Seidler and I thoroughly enjoyed it. A Lucky Second Chance had a good story line and plot that kept me engaged throughout the story and throw in a little suspense and romance and you have yourself a good debut novel. It was well written and an interesting read.

I enjoyed Emma’s character but sometimes wanted to reach through the novel and shake her a bit. I found myself wondering with this book and scratching my head – like hmm what

A Lucky Second Chance is Nickie’s debut novel and I do have to admit she did a pretty good job with this book. It was sweet read and I hardly ever wanted to put the book down, unless I really had to get back to that thing they call “LIFE”.

The book’s main characters are Emma and Nathan. There were moments in the book where I wanted to knock some sense into Emma, I mean how can a peeping Tom not be something to be worried about? And then there were also moments where you kind of felt bad for her.

This book was beyond AMAZING! I don't have words for how I felt about this book. I have never been physically abused myself but there are so many other kinds of abuse out there and it doesn't always just come from the person you are dating or married to. I absolutely loved the end of this book when he surprises her for the last time and I really hope to hear that there will be a book two because I want to know what happens next.

I while things happen really fast between all of the characters I kn

My Thoughts: I love a good stand alone! This is one of those! A stand alone should leave nothing out and not make you wonder and Nickie does a great job with this. I think there were just enough twists and turns or ups and downs however you want to say it to make you want to know what is going to happen next. The book moves freely and you start to fall in love with Emma and Nathan.
What I liked about Emma is that she was strong enough to get herself out of a bad situation! She is all about getti

First off this debut novel was a really good story. This story is about Emma moving and going outside of the plan her parents had for her and moving away from Chicago to FL. There she gets a great job, the perfect boyfriend, and gets engaged. Her perfect life wasn't so perfect when her boyfriend/fiance becomes abusive and addicted to drugs and alcohol. She escapes and runs home to start fresh.

Then enters Nathan Webber, a higher up executive with Crate International. With his own share of baggag

I recently found author Nickie Seidler and haven't stopped reading her since. I am almost done with all of her current books and am anxiously awaiting new ones to come out! I love her writing style, her technique and her attention to detail! She writes amazing stories with characters that are relatable, fun and could be anyone's best friend just by the way in which Nickie describes them. I enjoy the plots, the flow of the story and the way that the author leaves the reader no choice but to becom ...more

I recently read "A Lucky Second Chance" and I adored it...

Nickie Seidler you sucked me in.

Nate and Emma are just the sweetest together, the chemistry from the start was so unbelievably adorable. This book had some pretty amazing scenes and really great love. After some really awful times in life Emma really does all she can to get her happy ending. Nickies writing style is so different then I'm used to, and I really fell in love with it. There were many twists and turns but it all came together

I'm giving this book 4.5 stars. I loved the plot of the book and fell in love with the characters. I felt that the love story between Nate and Emma moved a little quickly for me but the suspense and mystery involved with some of the other characters was great. Even though their love story was short, you could feel the love that Nate and Emma had for one another by their actions and words to each other. I loved that the book had a mystery aspect to it to keep it interesting and it only added to t ...more

I'm not even going to waste my time with a review. I gave up on it after I read 9% of the book. I couldn't handle it anymore. The only thing I'm glad is that I got this book for free, 'cause I wouldn't spend a dime on this.

I give it 2 stars because the abusive relationship thing was a good idea, too bad it was surrounded by a whole lot of nothing interesting.

I feel guilty for giving such a bad review, but is my honest opinion. I hope the author works a lot harder next time to define the charac

I tried to finish this book as I like to finish an entire book to see if they usually get better but I couldn't do it. I made it to about 40% and then started skimming paragraphs. I got to almost 60% and couldn't read anymore. I agree with a lot of the reviews that it was all over the place. The main character was whiny and there was way too much about how she styled her beautiful blonde hair and what she was wearing. The cheesy lines made me roll my eyes. I couldn't believe how stupid she was. ...more

I LOVED this book! I could not put it down! You always wanted to know what was going to happen next! It pulled you in and made you want more! Hell, I wish there was more! Even though this is a stand alone with a HEA I wish she would have kept going!

It always helps to fall in love with a book when there is a DREAMY guy in it! Oh man, Nathan was it too! He swept me off my feet!

The book made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster ride. There was a lot going on. It had all the aspects of a good book, but it was hard to feel the connection between the main characters, Nate and Emma. The sex scenes could have used some improvements. In one scene, Nate says he is going to go all 50 on Emma, but aside from a slightly steamy shower scene, I'd say the book was fairly tame. The title represents the books theme very well. The characters are given second chances at life, love, an ...more

The premise was promising, but the poor writing and awkward phrasing along with a plot line that was all over the place made this a difficult read. A good editor is needed and maybe an outline to keep the conflicts more focused. Way too many issues for one person to encounter in one book. The characters moved back and forth from mature adults to whiney juveniles from page to page, so they were difficult to like or care about. The dialogue interspersed with Emma's "thoughts" was annoying. Let the ...more

Spoilers*******Awesome story kept my attention from the very beginning. Although I wished there were more explanation to some parts, that left me wondering, like did Nate and Emma get together with jake? What happen at their meeting? Emma's wedding how it went? When it happen? emma's miscarriage? Did Emma ever told her parents about the abuse from Jason? for me some part felt rush an others not elaborated enough. Other than that love it hope their story continues or may be Kevin's story. ...more

Don't get me wrong, I liked this book...BUT I wanted to LOVE it. Sadly, I did not. I liked Emma a lot, I found her strong and very self confident by the end. She was able to get through her past and move on. However I did not like Nathan. I always though he was hiding something from Emma (even up until the end) I also felt that Nate was very controlling with her. I found that confusing because, wasnt that what she was escaping from when she found Nathan??? ...more

a really great read, with a lot of substance, not just all feel good fluff. abuse is a subject that often gets swept under the rug. I think lucky second chance gives a good look at the after affects of abuse. but at the same time it was a great love story, showing how things can work out.
