Riley and Beck have been apart for months while Beck is in Scotland studying to become a Grand Master but they're finally about to see each other again now that Riley is travelling to join him to celebrate her eighteenth birthday. Unfortunately their reunion doesn't go smoothly thanks to a shocking betrayal by one of the other demon trappers.

-This wasn't as good as the main Demon Trapper novels but it was still a decent enough read.

-I was expecting Riley/Beck to be all lovey-dovey with each other as they were finally a proper couple but they weren't like that at all, for the most part they were pretty much the opposite. I didn't want them to be all perfect together but what I wanted even less was them being angsty and idiotic with each other.

-What's what: Riley (demon trapper) travels to Scotland to spend time with Beck who

While I really loved the three main books I read, this novella was quite a let down.

It was riddled with errors - missing words like "to" at least 20 times in the short novella. I wonder if it was even proofread - not even talking about an editor...

The word "guy" is used 58 times. It feels like every other sentence is "her guy" or something of the like.

Beck behaves like a real douchebag. If any man treated me like that, I would wish them good riddance.
The whole love story between the two felt com

I really liked seeing Riley out of her element on her trip to see Beck in Scotland. It's too bad that the rotten luck that she seems to have followed her and as soon as she touched down things went to crap. I would have thought that Beck would have realized something was wrong with Riley sooner when seemed so different. I did like that Riley learned something about herself on the trip. Not sure yet if it's a good thing or not. She'll have to decided that once she gets a handle on things. ...more

Such a great insight into the life of Riley and Den when they spent time together in Scotland!
I hate to say that the very short extra stories that were included at the end of this novella were more to my taste than the actual book. It was not what I expected and even though it did have a HFN ending there was no definitive indication that Denver and Riley would ever get their HEA together.

Good thing is there is another full length novel that takes place after Grave Matters which picks up where it left off and hopefully will give the pair what series fans have longed for since they became

**There may be Grave Matters spoilers in my review. It's not intentional but necessary to the quality of my review**

I've really missed Riley and Beck, so when Jana Oliver announced a novella I jumped all over it. I started by reading excerpts of Grave Matters on her website Then when the novella was available in print, I purchased it right away. I own all 4 of the full length novels in the series and it's

4.5 stars. The thing I like best about self-publishing is that authors are able to continue their stories when their publishers have obviously gone insane and discontinued a fantastic series. What I love about Grave Matters is that we see Riley and Denver moving on to a new life. Of course, the past comes back to haunt Riley as every nutcase in the world now wants to challenge her based on her reputation. The best part is that they know only the barest of what she has been through, and so the co ...more

Riley and Beck have survived the war and are finally a couple. They can't seem to get enough of each other so when they discover Beck is being sent to Scotland to begin his Grand Master training Riley is devastated. But Riley wants Beck to have this chance to prove himself as a Grand Master.

Riley goes to Scotland for a visit when she encounters some kidnappers and Beck acting strangely. Riley isn't so sure she made the right decision in coming to see Beck. Even though things start off on a bad n

Riley goes to Scotland for her 18th birthday to meet up with Beck mid-training. As soon as she gets off the plane, she's in danger and then when she meets up with Beck - she's paranoid. They figure out what's wrong and aim to fix it - along with their relationship.

I was so upset when this series ended - especially as it came as a bit of a surprise to me, I never knew it was the last book until I was reading it! I love Riley and I love Beck. I love the world that Jana Oliver has built here and va

It's a short story who's taking place between the fourth and the fifth book. It was nice to see Beck and Riley again. I am so in love with her she's such a badass! It's a little cheesy around the edge (marriage at eighteen really??) but i don't know it kind of feel right anyway. On my way to start the next book ! ...more

This was a short but sweet book in the demon trappers series. It was a 4 star read for me. I enjoyed the plot and change of scenery in this novella. The development of the grand masters and understanding just how few there are was compelling. I enjoyed how much Beck has grown up and how far he has come from the first book. Beck has been troubled and complicated for most of the series and it was good to see him settled and how maturely he handled the challenges presented in this novella. Riley co ...more

This has been one of my absolutely favorite YA urban fantasy series. I really enjoyed going back to revisit this world. I didn't realize a 5th book had been released in this series and am so excited to pick that up as well. I love these characters and this demon infested world!

This is a great novella for fans of the series. I wouldn't necessarily recommend as an intro to the series since there is a lot of backstory for these characters that you don't see in this novella. However, it should read

this was a really good novella and short story combined. I love the trip to Scotland and how it was described. I love how I kept guessing at how things would turn out for Riley and beck. I liked their story. the other 2 short stories where really brief but good. the first was about how beck faced down a 3 with Paul. it was nice seeing their relationship. the second was about Riley trapping on her first solo run. it was awesome to read about that advice she gives to the young trappers in the for ...more

Its been a while...

...Since I read the first four books in this series but I know I fell in love with them and Riley and Denver.

So yeah, I'd forgotten a lot of what went on and it took me a while to get into this. But I'm happy for the couple.

P.S. I'm not sure if this book has been updated since I bought it back in 2015/2016 but there are quite a few missing/extra words floating throughout and I'm pretty sure Fayne turns onto Faye at some point.

Is been a while since I’ve visited this world but it only took a couple of pages before it all came back to me. It’s been years since I’ve read the first one and with all the reading I’ve done since I have to and can acknowledge that maybe a little more editing should have done into these books so that the plot and characters can shine. Although the writing can improve a bit, the characters and the world created by Jana Oliver is one that is always immensely enjoyable.

What a rollercoaster of a novella this one was. So many times where you just didn't know what was going to happen.

I was happy with how it ended though. Perfect little book set between books 4 and 5. Giving you insights to the international guild.

It's so sad to witness a series you are invested in, take a turn for the worse.

When i first started this series, i had very low expectations. I actually started reading the first book a little over a year ago, then DNF'ed it at like 10%. This isn't for me, i decided. Too complicated and not nearly as exciting as it sounded, but then i decided to pick it up again in August, and oh boy, was i in for a treat.

I won't go into anymore details. You can read my full review Forsaken (and Forbidden
Jessica (a GREAT read)
Grave Matters is Jana Oliver's novella that takes place after her Demon Trappers series ended. One more look at the life of Riley and Beck and I was on so happy to have read it!

Beck is in Scotland training to be a Grand Master and Riley is paying him a visit. But things go horribly wrong the minute she steps off the plane and gets kidnapped by people who want to use her to raise "an angel" to heal a dying child. Naturally, that didn't pan out the way the people thought and Riley is lucky to have

I have been a huge fan of The Demon Trapper series so when Jana Oliver mentioned about her putting up chapters to her new novella set after the last one I jumped at the chance to read it.

The cover I kind of like but I don't think it's in keeping with the rest of the series but I don't really mind as its still good.

I think that this one is even better than all the others in this series put together but then that might just be me being biased as I have always wanted Riley and Beck together and we

First of all: Thank you, Jana Oliver.

Why you ask? I want to say thank you for not ending the story of Beck and Riley in "Foretold". I thought it was over. I have been hooked on their story from the very first page and it is always sad to say goodbye to some of your favorite characters. Luckily, I didn't have to. So thanks!! ,)

And NOW to the book itself!

I LOVED it. It was short, yes, but it answered a lot of questions that i quite frankly, never thought I would know the answer to. Amazing char

This novella is set at the end of the demon trappers series, and continues Riley and Beck's adventures. Unlike the series, it is set in Scotland and centers around Riley visiting Beck who is undertaking his grand masters training. But as we all can guess it won't be the peaceful holiday they imagined, someone wants to use Riley for their own nefarious purposes and it could prove the biggest test Riley and Beck's love has ever seen.

This was a great addition to the series and was a decent length
For fans of The Demon Trapper series this is a must read. It will also build the bridge between book 4 and 5, and you will get the necessary background info for some of the choices made by Riley and Denver, if book 5's blurb is anything to go by.

Now, I went into this expecting mushy romance between Riley and Beck. If that is what you wish to read about only, you might be a tad bit disappointed. This is Jana Oliver we are talking about after all, and nothing is quite that easy.
