Easy book with not much to it. Definitely a younger grade level. I would say kindergarten because it gives you words that you could sound out or sight words that that the students could find. If you read it with the class you could sing along because it's based off a Traditional American Song. If the class were to sing along with this it would definitely get them all involved. You could have them figure out the words and the all together sing it.
I didn't really like this book. It didn't have any substance to the story. It just talked about how he had a hole in his pocket but he did nothing to fix it. However, it is a really easy book to read. It would be a good starter book for some students.
This is a strange story line, a young animal is told by the parent how to fix the problem in a way that reminds me of "the old lady who swallowed a fly". The solution isn't very helpful and it ends up being circular with the problem of the hole in the pocket unresolved.
