Jennifer Zilm's intertextual inhabitation of Vincent Van Gogh's life makes for a poetry that expands upon the body of work that has sprung from the artist's published letters. As precise as the painter's palette, she creates poems as complex in aggregate as Van Gogh's imagination, and as brightly sad.

I had the pleasure of reading this book prior to publication and am excited to see this collection come out. Jennifer Zilm is a poetic voice rich with intellect, emotion and humour that challenges and delights me. This collection of poems inspired by letters between Van Gogh and his doctors, the process and relationships of therapy, impressions, orthodoxy, sunflowers, oils, fragments and sunflowers is a worthy read, hopefully the first of many from this poet.

A superlative first collection from Jennifer Zilm. The writing is smart, funny, poignant and layered with meaning. She's a poet to watch.
