I had the pleasure of reading this book prior to publication and am excited to see this collection come out. Jennifer Zilm is a poetic voice rich with intellect, emotion and humour that challenges and delights me. This collection of poems inspired by letters between Van Gogh and his doctors, the process and relationships of therapy, impressions, orthodoxy, sunflowers, oils, fragments and sunflowers is a worthy read, hopefully the first of many from this poet.
Jennifer Zilm lives in East Vancouver where she works in libraries, archives and social housing. Her first full length collection Waiting Room (BookThug, 2016) was shortlisted for the Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry and selected by the CBC and the 49th Shelf as one of the most anticipated titles of 2016.
