I picked this up on a lark, and you know what? I'm so glad I did.

I didn't expect a lot of plot, considering how short this book is, but the story was surprisingly well developed and FUN, just plain FUN, people.

Young, driven Ben, three weeks away from college graduation, decides he wants his lit professor, the older, uptight Peter Coyle after witnessing Peter in a very, um, compromising position.

Mind you, Ben sort of hates Professor Coyle at first. The professor is ready to fail Ben due to a misunderstanding over a test and seems completely immune to Ben's reasoning and pleading.

Things heat up though, and when they do, my, oh my. This is some seriously smexy, fabulously wanton, beautifully shameless, lustful, lascivious, debauched lovin' (worthy of all those adjectives and more!).

There are a couple misunderstandings and secondary characters who make Peter and Ben's relationship more complex.

We see both men with someone else early on in the book (before they ever get together). Ben has a roommate to whom he's close, and Peter has some baggage. There is also a slutty twink involved. Even so, the angst is minimal.

The whole student/professor thing usually has creepy written all over it, but this toed that fine, invisible line.

For one, this is college, not high school. Ben is 23 and nearly done with college and very mature, and Peter is in his late-30s. Peter is very careful of not falling for a student, and it's Ben who pursues him.

As their relationship takes off, Ben is no longer Peter's student or a student at all. And the last chapter, well, it had me grinning like a lunatic. I love HEAs like this; it was about perfect!

Disclaimer: I'm a college professor, and I was a student for many, many years. Once, when I was a teaching fellow (and 21, mind you), I had a thing with one of my students, who was 26. But he was Norwegian, a Viking God, and clearly an exception to the "no sleeping with your students" rule.

When I was in grad school I was also very close to a certain professor, one of my advisers nonetheless. Suffice it to say, it was good times and didn't damage me for life.

There's lots of gray in this arena, so judge not lest you be judged and all that (something about a beam and a mote, right?)

So, I say, why, yes, Professor Coyle, I DO love books; show me yours, and I'll show you mine.

Darien Cox, where the hell have you been all my life?!? Why have I not read any of your books yet??

This was a damn good student/teacher forbidden romance!

The writing is terrific! It's effortless and it's engaging. I was sucked into the story from the get-go....and dual POV to boot....oh yes, I was all in.

The anticipation and sexual tension here....wonderfully done. Just the right amount to keep the momentum moving forward.

I have to be honest and say that Benjamin skated the line of being a wee bit obsessed for me at times. I'm all for going after what you want, but there were a couple of instances where I think he was bordering on a little too needy. I think what kept him from going over the line for me was his honesty. He never played any games. He was honest and upfront about what he wanted, how he wanted it and why he wanted it. AND HOLY HELL DID HE WANT IT!

Image result for fanning self gif

And Peter....he was quite the dominant and bossy top. YUM! I understood his hesitations and his fears. Once you're epicly (is that a word? - we'll go with yes) burned once, it's hard to let go of those fears and the paranoia that comes with it.

The steam here.....A+++++++++++ I mean....HOLY MOTHER OF COCKS, BALLS AND ASSES!! Quality, quality, quality.

Image result for fanning self gif

As you can tell, there's a lot of fanning one self going on in this book!

However, I could have done without the whole Dominick subplot and the little bit of drama with Scotty at the end. I don't think either of those things were necessary to the story or added anything. I also have one niggle of displeasure about the end that had me scratching my head.

Even with my couple of nit-picks, this is definitely a book that I see myself picking up again when I'm in the mood for a sexy, well-written story and a damn good time.

I highly recommend this one!!

This is another one of those books that's been on my Kindle forever, and sort of got lost in the shuffle.

I think seeing reviews for one of DCs new releases made me go back and read this one.

I was surprised by how much I liked this one....and by how much story was actually there given the length.

I actually thought it was going to be mostly sex, which it wasn't. It was hot though, don't get me wrong.

There was a slight forbidden element, with the teacher/student thing.

No crazy drama or angst.

Another good find in the TBR pile!

1 star ⭐️ I can't believe that I actually finished reading this book.
Since the story was a somewhat short one, I couldn't expect more from it. But there was something really missing out on the whole book. Everything felt so flat and fake. I just didn't feel like connecting with both characters.

A little spoiler ahead ⛔️

Benjamin was really annoyed me. He was pushy, immature, whiny AF, and gave me a lot of MF vibes. How he treated his friend, Dominick was not acceptable. It was horrible!!
I didn't like this professor, Peter Coyle at all. He gave me creepy vibes from the start of the book.

The sex scenes were meh. Not hot at all. I actually skipped them.

Loved this one, since I love forbidden romance. Although this was not really that forbidden. Ben was 23 and Peter in his late 30's...so yes there was an age-difference, but to me it was very acceptable. Also...Ben only has 3 weeks left until graduation. For me...they were not crossing a huge line here.

Peter even went to the dean and told him that he was gay and going to pursue a relationship with his former student. This was a little lie ofcourse since they were already involved, but he did leave Ben for a couple of weeks until graduation day. They did however have sex before he made that decision, but he really did want to do the right thing.

These two were really hot together. Ben did annoy me at times, because he came on really strong and I could understand were Peter was coming from.

4 stars from me

Re-released on March 5, 2017!

New updated edition.

Re-read in March 2017. Loved loved loved to read Ben and Peter's story again!

Very highly recommended.

------

A well developed story about a student who falls in love with his professor. Usually a relationship between a teacher and a student isn’t my thing but this story felt different. For one thing, Ben is twenty-three and nearly done with college and Peter is in his late thirties. And for another thing, as their relationship takes off, Ben is no longer Peter's student or a student at all.

I loved Ben in all his determination and brattiness and I really liked dominant Peter. He wants to stay away so badly, but of course he is doomed to failure.

After reading a few more or less disappointing BDSM novels Darien’s style in writing a sexual dominant just blew me away. I don’t want to spoil anything but let me put it this way: Without ever using a whip/flogger or any other toy Peter has got more dominance in his pinkie than other Doms in their whole dungeon. Just saying… :)

The story is sexy, hot, sweet, and well balanced. So if you are looking for a little read with likable characters and a sexy dominant professor, this might be the right book for you. If you aren’t into BDSM, don’t worry, the D/s aspect is very mild, more like a whisper but brilliantly done. Recommended!

This was a very sexy short professor-student story. I enjoyed it well enough, but something was missing. Ben was obsessed with Peter. Peter was scared of giving into Ben. Where do we go from there?

And the ending pissed me off. How can Peter go from not being able to commit or even say I love you, so much that Ben feels like he has to break up with him, to proposing? What?

Student teacher books are a hard limit for me most times but Ben is 23 and almost a graduate and Peter is 38.

This was my first Darien Cox book years ago and I am happy to report that it stands the test of time. I can see now that it's somewhat underdeveloped with a few loose ends but my enjoyment was still the same. I totally adored how messed up Ben became because of Peter.

Darien Cox has become a damn good author and his early work shows it

I was a bit wary about the topic to start with because teacher/student relationships kind of make me feel a bit uneasy. But .. Darien Cox!

I'm pleased to say that he dealt with the topic very appropriately and in a way I felt happy with.
Peter doesn't just rush into things with Benjamin - on the contrary. He really knocks himself up for just wanting the much younger MAN (Ben is 23, to my relief), not to talk about having sex with him.

Ben is definitely the predator to start with. He doesn't take note of Prof. Coyle until he sees him in a couple of very 'compromising' situation at a sex party, and gets extremely hot and bothered. For what he sees in Peter and the way he makes love unleashes a want inside Ben he never knew he had.
It is very much a story of self discovery for Ben and what his sexual desires are, something he has never considered before.

Ben comes across a bit aggressive to start with. He does everything to rile Peter and manipulate him. Just as well Peter sees through him, but Ben's ploy does have its effects on Peter. I can't blame him for caving in tbh - he is only human and Ben is very determined to get what he wants!
But I really appreciated that Peter shows his common sense and conscience and 'postpones' their relationship until it is appropriate.

Although I enjoyed the book and Darien Cox's writing (as always) I have one big issue with it:
There is instant attraction, there is lust and desire, there is even a connection between Peter and Ben (even though it felt tentative) but I have very little idea why these two fall in love. They have a couple of conversations, but all in all I have no idea when they really got to know each other enough to fall in love.

I also take exception to Ben demanding How weird is that? It also seems funny that Peter

I still enjoyed this mostly, but maybe not as much as other books I've read by this author.

With a title like Seducing Professor Coyle, this sort of sounds like it might one of those trite ' more sex than story ' books that are just written for titillation and nothing else, a bit like 'Boffing The Babysitter' or ' Doing Doctor Love' ( I made those up... Honest!! ) but what do you know , this actually has a really enjoyable storyline alongside its hotness, and the sex scenes are more than decent too!

The teacher/student trope is usually portrayed as the taboo relationship that shouldn't be happening and this does have the decency to have Professor Peter Coyle addressing that in so much as not only has he already had a bad experience with a past older student falsely accusing him, which has made him very wary but also he refuses to act on the attraction that sparks between him and Ben after their first fiery meeting. So there's no doing the nasty straight away, the age difference Is between two grown men, not a man and a young boy and Benjamin who becomes fixated on the Prof is a 23 year old student, so the age difference is not inappropriate at all.

Bens best friend Dominic was a very likeable character and their friendship and past history together was Interesting and integral to the story but I wish that at the end we'd heard more of what happened between him and his newish twink boyfriend, who had a part in nearly scuppering Peter and Benjamin's relationship, but it was just glossed over. Because Dom had been quite an important catalyst in the story I'd have just liked to have seen his story play out instead we just get told in the epilogue that he's now living with his boyfriend as an aside. Perhaps that's just me?

Yes its hot and sexy and there's lots of UST and a very lightweight D/s feel but the plot actually has meat on it and the whole thing is handled very satisfyingly.Nothing wigged me out at all in it and I thought as a couple they fitted together really well and the ending was lovely. Another shortish but likeable read that I sat and read in one session and very much enjoyed. Plus that cover is über delish and deserves a star all of its own!!! Very nice!

Ben is obsessed with his Professor, Peter Coyle. A few weeks from his graduation, he decides to seduce his teacher!

Books about the relationship between student and teacher, always left me a little uncomfortable...But this book was the opposite. Not only Ben is not that young, Peter is not that old! So Ben's decision to seduce tenaciously Peter was quite awesome, because they have an intense and very hot relationship! I enjoyed this story very much!

Debbie Downer/total buzzkill coming through.
description

Spoilers below.

'Seducing Professor Coyle' should have been a win for me. Age gap, teacher-student secret relationship, D/s undertones, and an MC with a difficult past.

This book started off really well. I'd say the first third or so was my favourite. The set-up of Ben as the angry student, and Peter as the patient professor with a secret was right up my alley.

You could feel the sexual tension from the moment these two are alone in the same room. And that party and voyeur scene? Hella hot. When Ben and Peter eventually get together, there were fireworks. The D/s isn't formal or clear-cut, but it's there.

But then things got a bit wonky. I think my main issue was that Ben went from a bit pushy to just plain selfish. I hated how he treated Dominick. Jerking around a best friend who you know has feelings for you is a shitty thing to do. And then to get jealous when that friend tries to move on is even shittier.

I'm also not so comfortable with how Ben treated Peter at the start of their relationship. Peter told Ben "no" repeatedly, yet Ben ignored him completely. I get it, Peter didn't really want to stay away from Ben, but when someone says no, the response isn't to force a kiss on them. It was just skeevy.

This book was an okay read. I really liked the beginning, but Ben just came off as selfish. Oh well, moving on.

★★★★3.5 solid stars, rounding up to 4★★★★

Woweee, this little book sure packed a punch. I expected a steamy, raunchy novel with some relationship tidbits thrown in; I got so much more than that though. This was my first book by Mr. Cox, and I was not disappointed. His writing was terrific and flowed smoothly. He expressed the emotions of his characters so well that I was able to understand everything they were feeling. The narration was also very humorous at times and utterly entertaining, witty, and engaging.

And for such a short book, his characters were very well developed and dynamic. The student in this hot student-teacher relationship is Ben LeClair. Life has taught Ben that he has to be tough and that he has to only rely on himself to get what he wants. Ben has been hurt by people before, and it makes it very hard to trust others and take a risk on them. But he sure takes a risk on his "Slutty Professor ;D" Peter Coyle. Peter has been burned by previous relationships and coming out of the closet has negatively affected his previous jobs. Therefore, he is gun-shy about getting into relationships and trusting anybody for more than a one-night stand. I just hurt for both of these characters and the pain they went through in their past. You just can't help rooting for them.

So, yes, there were some great smutty scenes, but this book delivered so much more. We got to explore the beginning of a relationship of two great characters and boy was it awesome little journey. If you are looking for a delightful little read with lovely characters and the right dash of angst and a whole hell of a lot of sexy, dominant professor, this is the book for you!

4 stars and 4 ♥♥♥♥ from me for this one, and a shortie review. I have to admit I was originally drawn to the story by the cover (yes, shallow I know), and who in their right mind wouldn't be...it's absolutely delish !! But, when I finally dragged my eyes away from the cover (and yes, it was a huge struggle hehe!!), I discovered that much to my surprise, the story itself wasn't bad either. Ben, a young man who's been driven to succeed by events in his past, spies one of his tutors indulging in some hot sex at a party, and can't help but feel jealous of the young guy who is busy with his tutor, Peter Coyle. Ben needs a good mark from Professor Coyle to graduate, and there's been a problem....over to you fellow readers.

Ben is attracted to his professor. Luckily Ben is 23 and only 3 weeks away from graduating.

Yes, there is some hot teacher/student sex in Peter’s office, but since Ben is not a kid and almost not a student anymore, I was fiiiiiiine with it.

These guys were hot!

This was good. And I'm going to echo Mishyjo's review here by saying it was middle of the road; not a waste but not a wow either.

I kept feeling myself straining forward, wishing Cox would push the characters, the plot and the D/s element to their full potential. This story was like early April; you could feel Spring there, somewhere, in the air but you can't quite see the flowers yet nor leave the heavy jacket at home.

There was something else that perturbed me a bit about this story, and that was the focus on obsession. I've read a few teacher/student romances, the most recent one being Unteachable, and all of them utilise obsession as a theme. Why is that?

Why must the love that crops up between teacher and student not be allowed to love at all but something far unhealthier as if that's the only way that barrier can be breached? It has to be a sickness. The love has to pathologised. Is that the only way the author thinks this relationship will be palatable to readers? I don't have or like guilt trips with my pleasure. I like characters that embrace their desires...and authors and readers who do too.

Anyway, reeling in my tangent...

It was good.

Several hot, aggressive, passionate, gay-male sex scenes. And the story is good.

It’s about a third the length of a regular novel. The main conflict is Professor cannot date a student. So Professor tries to ignore and not succumb to his desire for Ben. Ben likes being dominated with roughness, but here he has to be the instigator to make the relationship happen.

DATA:
Narrative mode: 3rd person. Kindle count length: 2,343 (142 pages). Swearing language: strong including religious swear words. Sexual language: moderate. Number of sex scenes: 7, lots of back-door action. Setting: current day U.S. Copyright: 2013. Genre: erotic gay male romance.

I was so excited to read this book. It seemed so many people loved it. This should have been a really hot and exciting read. I mean come on student teacher m/m romance hot right (big fat negative). This book just fell flat. To me there was no really connection between the two MCs but sex. Oh there was forbidden sex but not hot sex. I think I just frowned at my kindle the whole time I was reading this. I need some emotions damnit lol.

Dani's review says it pretty well, but I'll still try on my own:

Alright, I admit, I was 100 percent positively, pleasantly surprised by this one. I mean, I expected a bit of a sex fest in a rather clichéd setting, short and hopefully hot. And it was short and hot. But it was also sweet and lovely in a way I didn't expect.

To be honest, I was also a little bit misled by the BDSM label (at least it's part of the BDSM list). Because, yes, there's a little bit of a dominance-submission thing going on, but it was supermild, purely confined to the bedroom (or office or couch or... well... to where the good stuff happens), and actually beautiful to read. And I'm saying that as someone who has occasional problems when things get too heavy in the kink department. This here was really beautiful with both main characters driving at all times, at least in intention and emotion, completely in tune to one another. I loved that! I really loved the sex here in general, the sexual tension and chemistry were fantastic, and the sex scenes hot hot hot.

The teacher-student controversy was kept to a minimum, although some people might have a problem with it (I don't!). I loved Ben in all his determination and wilfulness. And I really liked Peter too, with his insecurities and his futile efforts to stay away. They were perfect together.

This isn't a perfect read, however. There were a few times where the writing seemed a bit... rough for lack of a better word, and in the end, it still was a pretty clichéd story without too much depth.
But I had a lot of fun reading it and I can only recommend this story for anyone who looks for something short, sweet, and spicy.

I'd really love a sequel to this one!! Maybe having a look at Dom this time around? That'd be awesome!!!

Well that was surprisingly good! I was kind of expecting porn with a plot based on the title and that droolworthy cover, but it wasn't at all. I enjoyed Ben, a 23-year-old college student, just weeks away from graduation, and his uptight professor, Peter Coyle. A grading mix-up brings Ben to Professor Coyle's office to straighten things out. They don't really care much for each other at first. After Ben sees Professor Coyle in a compromising position at an off campus party, he begins to see his professor in a whole new way. Great characters, great storyline! Loved it!

This was the first book by Darien Cox that I have read. I’ve seen several people on GR waxing poetic about how much they love DC’s books. The writing was very good and the sex scenes were hot. I like dirty talk when it doesn’t get gross and this fit the bill. I’ve seen this labeled as BDSM, but I’d put it in just the D/s category.

For the first half of the book Ben is saying how he wants to seduce his professor and how he needs someone to control him. Ben is very controlled in his life so I can understand how he’d want to give up that control when it comes to sex. He seems to think Professor Peter Coyle will fit that role when Ben sees him at a sex party. The Professor seems to be dominating his partner as Ben secretly watches.

BUT

Ben is very pushy in his pursuit of Peter. Ben is the one manipulating Peter to act. Peter is very cautious because Ben is his student. Ben just keeps pushing. This irritated me so much! Ben is supposed to be the submissive, but he’s always running to show so to speak. Peter wasn’t dominant enough for my liking, and that made this less enjoyable. I wanted Peter to pursue Ben and to take control. Ben was too demanding.

I think I’ll eventually look into some other books by this author. The writing was good, I just didn’t think the characters fit their supposed roles. 3 stars for the writing and hot sex scenes.

i liked this. It was pretty yummy. I liked both our MCs. Peter doesn't want to get involved with a student and has some trust issues. Ben is the non-risk-taker that just can't help himself. I liked them together. The do have moments with others in the book but it's before they are a thing and I wasn't bothered by it.
I didn't really care for the ending

Mmmm...age gap, elicit teacher/student affair and smoking hot sex. Check, check and check!

Seducing Professor Coyle is a lighter read compared to the two other books by Darien Cox that I’ve read, but it’s a fun one! Not a ton of angst or conflict, and the story was predictable, but there was plenty of sexual tension and I was rooting for Peter and Ben’s HEA.

I expected a light romance, hoped it wouldn't be too short and that the writing would be passable (never read or heard of Darien Cox) and less than halfway through, this was already a 5-star read. It stayed that way right to the end, giving me a lovely HEA for two very likeable individuals.

The plot is as the blurb describes but very nicely-executed. I found the writing crisp and the scenes flowing smoothly with no wtf moments to pull me out of the story. I found the characters and their actions/reactions realistic and yeah, exchanging sexual favors for a good grade is, apparently, more common than I thought. Though this wasn't really the case with Ben and his professor but rather than spoiler the story, I'll leave the details to you to find out.

I didn't like Ben's friend, Dom, all that much, but he fit nicely into the plot since it was because of him that Ben got to see Coyle outside of the classroom. Other than that, Dom just got in the way for me since I wasn't interested in anyone else besides Ben and the professor.

While I'd say it was relatively angst-free, it did have a delicious tension to it because I was dying for the moment when Coyle finally loses his control and gives Ben the fucking he was provoking the poor professor into giving him.

The chemistry between them was hot and that delicious tension came not just from the 'porny' tone but the romance that it developed into. I was glad that little scene between Scotty (or Scott?) and our MCs was resolved right there and then, which is one reason why I do buy shorter books - if it were a longer one, it's likely this scene would have been strung out over several more pages or chapters and Big Mis-driven stories do get tiresome, don't they?

In all, a very well-told story with a whisper of D/s which I thoroughly enjoyed and the only complaint I have is that it's not available in audio.
