Recommends it for: PNR lovers that don’t mind convoluted tropes
There are few things I find sillier than books that haphazardly mix popular romance tropes. The thought process goes something like this: “if readers like heroes that are shifters, Navy SEALs, have psychic powers, belong to a brotherhood of men fighting evil and have fated mates, wouldn’t they love a hero who is/has ALL of the above?” **eye roll** I know it’s fantasy but to take a story seriously, I need to see some internal logic.

The premise of the story...Five years ago, a group of Navy Seals were out on a mission in Afghanistan and were attacked by a pack of rogue werewolves, the ones who survived became wolf shifters themselves and are now part of a group called Alpha Pack...their job now is to protect the human race from all the naughty creatures that go bump in the night. Apparently everyone in this group of soldiers had some sort of "psy ability" that was enhanced once they became wolf shifters...there is a ...more

I loved this book! Yes another shifter book, but I don't care. Jaxon is a shifter with special abilities. I really like the way that they shifters were described in this book. I like that their unique abilities that aren't usually associated with shifter, vamps sure but not shifters. I mean shooting fire out of your hands? Bending time? Loved that all the guys were hot but more in a rough sexy way. Kira was so funny. I liked the way that she spoke her mind and she was compassionate to the other ...more

Jaxon Law is a member of the Alpha Pack, an elite unit of former Navy SEALs turned wolf shifters on a mission. Out on the town one night, he and his fellow pack members come across Kira Locke, a woman on the run from her nefarious employer. Jax and Kira's attraction is immediate and as they get to know one another, the reason why becomes all too clear...

I really don't like to see H whore through the book!
I kind of liked it but....
I listened to the Audible version of this book which I like to do when I have a lot of hands on things to do, like mending, cooking, or laundry. My first complaint was the narrator. I just think she put a lot of the wrong kind of inflections for different characters so they would sound snooty when they were supposed to sound sexy, or sexy when they should have sounded apprehensive. It left me thinking several times during the book "That doesn't sound like the
Fun, steamy treat! Primal law introduces a new paranormal world that has everything - from royal fairies to shape shifting alphas and magic wielding hotties. This was my first J.D. Tyler story and I'm already ordering the rest of the series. The author's style is easily palatable, devoid of too many unnecessary descriptions and inter musing, the plot flows smoothly and the characters (although kindly familiar) are light and fun. A great Saturday afternoon read :)

Jo Davis is one of my favorite authors. I absolutely LOVED her FIREFIGHTERS OF STATION FIVE series and I couldn't wait to get my hands on Primal Law and of course, she did not disappoint. Her first Paranormal Romance written under her pseudonym, J.D. Tyler, was just as amazing as the rest of her books. Primal Law, the first book in the new Alpha Pack series had a great plot line, great characters and of course smokin' hot love scenes.

Jaxon Law is man scorned by betrayal and weighed down by the

3-3.5 stars. I enjoyed the overall story, but there were things that happened in this book that I felt just happened way too easily & too fast. However, I did like it enough to continue with the series and I enjoyed the secondary characters as well. I'm really hoping it does get better in the future books.

Can I give a book more then a 5 rating? No...hmmm...well that kind of stinks cause I want to give this one more! This book falls in my top 5 favorite shifter books ever and I read a lot of shifter books!

Fast, fun, emotional, and hot, throw in some sexy as hell shifters and a kick ass heroine and oh have yourself a good time *wink*

I absolutely loved every aspect of this book. It has very intense in depth characters that will suck you in from the beginning. Jaxon is amazing. He is a

First of all.... look at that cover and tell me you dont want to get that book??!! *waggles eyebrows* The Alpha Pack is home to some extremely alpha males, no pun intended. A group of Navy SEALS who were attacked by werewolves while on a mission and were turned, now continue on their military activities but policing the supernaturals.

But these are no ordinary shifters. They each have a psychic ability, some can go back in time, some are pyrokinetic,

I guess I read this book back in 2014 and to be honest I couldn’t remember it at all.
And listening nothing really jogged my memory of it. So it felt like a completely new book to me.

That being said I rated it a 5 then and today I am going to rate it a 4. I really enjoyed the book don’t get me wrong but there are things I am kind of scratching my head about.
Jax and Kira, I love that she challenges him and that she isn’t afraid of him, well she was that her instinct about him

A good start to a new paranormal series!

Alpha males, different kinds of supernatural creatures and powers, action, humor, romance, kick ass organizations (I have a soft spot for modern compounds, big groups of badass guys, dangerous missions and such - I'm an action movies girl!)... the whole package! I was a bit annoyed with the ending, I felt the story could have been more plot-wise, and the characters needed a bit more depth and layers (I know it's unfair but I've been ruined by Nalini

Primal Law by J. D. Tyler is the first book in her Alpha Pack paranormal romance series.

Kira Locke knows that the scientists at the lab where she works are up to something shady, so she decides to steal some lab samples to prove it. Too bad for her that she is discovered and is forced to flee from the lab. The men guarding the lab catch up to Kira and almost kill her before Jaxon Law intervenes. Jaxon is part of Alpha Pack, a secret group of soldiers who can shapeshift and have other abilities.

HUGE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This read was overdone and not thought out. Kira, a lab chick, thought something hinky was going down at her job, so she stole some lab samples. While trying to get away she was caught by some goons. She screamed. In comes the Alpha Pack who are having a weekend off in Vegas. Jax, a cripple leg human/wolf hears Kira scream and goes into wolf protective mate mode and saves her, thus inducting her into their club where she is accepted, offered a job rehabilitating

Really 3.5 Stars.

For a first in series book it wasn't bad, world building was good, there was just something about it that I found it very easy to put down, again and again; some other book would just grab my attention.

Maybe I just didn't feel the connection between Jax and Kira as strongly as I know others have.

A Black Ops team made up of shifters & psi have been betrayed and Kira stumbles upon some evidence and they stumble upon her.

The conspiracy continues to grow. Could the government
This one just had a juvenile feel to it. Our heroine, Kira, sees Jax shift to kill people in pursuit of her and then he loads her on a plane and takes her back to his home. No hesitation on her part. All the encounters with each character just felt forced and generic. For one thing, there were simply too many characters introduced at once. Because of this they all had a "card-board" character fell to them. Not a single person in this read felt genuine or realistic. I didn’t care for any of these ...more
Reading paranormal romances has become my go to reads when I am just exhausted. They are normally fun, entertaining, easy reads that I can get through quickly.

This one though...OMG. I could not help myself making notes on my ebook version everything something was inconsistent, didn't make sense, or an example of sloppy research (read "no research") by the author.

My first note was on page 16, and in 240 pages I made 45 notes. That is one note every 5.3 pages!!! a certain point (like

Book Description:

Soon he must decide if the deep connection he feels with Kira is worth defying
Was going to give it a 3 1/2 stars but the ending brought it down to 2 1/2 stars, both for the cliffhanger, not for the main characters but for the storyline which didn't get very far at all. Just a beginning. Knowing there is government traitor but nothing more.

This book was a bit disappointing to me (especially given I have bought all the rest in the series!), MILD SPOILERS AHEAD!

Firstly, I love shapeshifter romances - hence why I picked this up in the first place. But this just seemed to be a mishmash of every paranormal thing you could possible think of! So I never really got a handle on the "world". I understood the 'made' but how/where did the 'born' fit in? Never was mentioned.

Secondly, Kira's acceptance of this world was just too bizarre and far

Though i have to agree with many of the previous reviews about there being a lot going on in this book, i personally Ms. Tyler constructed it very well. All first series books have a lot they throw at a person during world building (Cheyenne McCray's Magic Series is a great example), but if it is done well there are no issues for me.

The romance might have been a little thin but when you have that Primal mating going on often the romance is more a reading between the lines thing. Primal urges

I wasn't sure I'd enjoy Primal Law, but damn I did.

J.D. Tyler's world building is fantastic, and the characters compelling. I was drawn into the story from page one as Jax faced betrayal from the woman he thought he loved, only to then find his destined mate months later.

Kira is certainly his match, strong and willing to face her own fears to do what is right. She finds her feet quickly despite the situation she's thrust into and she's more than willing to stand up to Jax's brothers in the
I loved this book! Not surprising since it features two of my favorite things; shape-shifters and psychic abilities. Combine them with ex Navy SEALS and immoral corporate behavior and you have a very interesting story with intriguing characters that you'll want to know more about. Jax and Kira were great and their story was beautiful but I'm all about the secondary characters; Arik, Kalen and Sariel. Can't wait to see what's in store for the pyrokinetic/telekinetic wolf shifter, the beautiful ...more

I read this one a few months ago and I remember I just... expected more from it. Neither character made a lasting impression on me, they were a little flat, and the world building wasn't extraordinary. I remember thinking that I read an X-man adaptation with supernatural elements. The ending was interesting though and left room for a great continuation.
