This might be the best illustrated Williamsburg Christmas book I've come across. Most are very good. But this one has probably the most illustrative pictures, as well as recipes and lots of How-To instructions. So, a definite reference and read.

I really enjoyed seeing all of the Williamsburg holiday decor. I've been there before, but never during the holidays. It would be great to travel there at Christmas!

It was fun and I really appreciated the recipes, I wish I had read the description a little more before I checked it out from the library. I'm not super interested in recreating the same decorations, but it was cool "behind the scenes" creation all the same. Next, I'll probably want to search for a cook book. The recipes were neat but called for a lot of liquor. Surely you can cook amazing holiday treats without rum and bourbon.

If you cannot reproduce these effects for your home, then go back and re-read the book. Templates, "How tos" and lots of ideas all working within the context of a Colonial Christmas from coarser "country" effects to high end and class displays with a few modern rooms done in a classical manner. The book also includes period recipes. Very well done production. It reminded me of my mother's style and what she would do for Christmas. I'd like to return to some of these ideas.

I am a huge fan of Colonial Williamsburg. This book has great illustrations and photos of the decorations they do each year.
