Die Amerikanerin Byron Katie hat eine Methode entwickelt, mit der jeder Mensch die Urteile, die er über seine Außenwelt fällt, als Mittel zur Selbsterkenntnis einsetzen kann: The Work, ein ebenso einfaches wie wirkungsvolles System zur Erlangung innerer und äußerer Freiheit. Moritz Boerner zeigt in seinem Buch anhand zahlreicher Fallbeispiele, wie The Work auf verblüffende Weise zu Verhaltensänderungen führt und uns hilft, unser volles Potential zu entfalten. Einzige Voraussetzungen sind Wille, Mut und die Fähigkeit, der Wahrheit ins Auge zu schauen.
The book is interesting. A bit extreme and in part esoteric, but close to my understanding of buddhism and mindfulness. Just quite a bit more extreme and the way it is presented is also a bit extreme. I think that it works - just because mindfulness works and trying to get rid of beliefs, especially unhealthy beliefs. I personally think, however, that some beliefs are good and we can use beliefs to create energy and help us move forward. Also I think that we do not have to accept everything of course by obsessing into something that we cannot change, we suffer, but maybe we find a way to change the unchangeable and suffering can help us focus until we find a solution. This is why I think that it is extreme. Nevertheless, it has interesting ideas and ways to test unhealthy warped thoughts and beliefs. I certainly enjoyed reading the book and recommend it further, but be aware that it is a bit extreme.
