It was never a question of IF she wanted to but WHEN she would take the reins o ...more

Recommends it for: Those who love an engaging story with awesome twists
I won an ARC of this book in a giveaway on the author's blog and went on to purchase it on Amazon later so I could see how/if the writing improved from soup to nuts. In addition to that, when the opportunity arose to join in on a review tour, I pounced. I've reviewed Ms. Greene's work in the past and found it more than five star worthy. This book had a couple of flaws; but didn't disappoint when it came time to deliver on the story end. I have in no way been compensated for my participation in t ...more

Little did I know when I picked this book to read and started it that this author would be snatching me away and not letting go until I reached the end even though I was reading something else at the time of looking at this. It wasn't enough that the cover beckons to you and says open me up and read me. Katherine Rebecca or Becky is taken as a little girl to the circus by her Nanny because even though her parents love her they don't care for the circus. When it is all said and done she falls har ...more

'Illusions Begin' is a great new novel that introduces the possibility of a unique and exciting paranormal series that I really can't wait to get my hands on and read!

The story starts off with a young Katherine Rebecca, or Becky, who is taken to her first, and only trip as a child, to the circus by her nanny because her parents don't care for this kind of stuff. At the circus she is enchanted by magicians and their work and this is where she falls in love with the idea of magic. After being told

I thought Illusions Begin was a fun, original story that introduces a Paranormal series from author N.L. Greene.

Becky is a very authentic character. Out of obligation to her family, she sacrifices her own happiness to work in a field she does not enjoy (and in close quarters with her cheating ex). Due to long hours at the office and a very shy demeanor, she is a bit of a loner with no real friends apart from the family business.

One of the few things that bring her joy is magic. She secretly stu

Illusions Begin by N L Greene

4 Stars

Well this was a story I didn’t expect! Totally different to anything I’ve ever read before, I was fully engrossed and taken on a magical journey from the very first page.

When Becky experienced her first magic show as a child she was fascinated and became almost obsessed with the need to solve every trick, discover how each illusion worked and even make up a few of her own. Sadly her parents didn’t share her enthusiasm causing Becky to enjoy and practice in sec

Becky is drawn to magic, but it doesn't fit into the plan she has for her life; a plan she believes her parents have long wanted. While being the dutiful daughter during the day, she sneaks off at night to fulfill her passionate need for magic by going to shows and learning all she can about the tricks she sees.

Then, one day, she finds a mysterious invitation to find out more about real magic. This leads her to an intriguing man named Blaine who wants to teach her. Before she can give into her d

Illusions Begins, by N.L.Greene starts with a common childhood memory. We've all been to the circus, most of us have been dozens of times. But for 6 year old Katherine Rebbecca this is a pivotal moment in her structured life. She falls in love, at that young age, with the world of magic and it fundamentally affects her. As she grows, Becky comes to realize that magic isn't more than illusion, slight of hand, and well-thought tricks, but that realization doesn't decrease her fascination with the ...more

My Review of Illusions Begin:

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The Cover: Magical. Pun completely intended. It is such a sexy, fun cover! The couple is hot, the cards are a perfect touch. I love the boldness of the red. I just love everything about it. The book’s cover designer gets a round of applause from yours truly.

The Characters: Becky is so vivid and fabulous, she nearly leaps off the page. I could relate to her in so many ways. I love her inner struggle, against the ex

Katherine Rebecca has had her whole life planned out for her since the day she was born, and I really felt for her. She has always put others needs first and become the lady expected of her, whilst hiding her true self from everyone. As she grows up, she never forgets her love of magic and secretly starts practising her own illusions and working out how others do their tricks, scared to let anyone into that part of her life. Things start getting strange when she notices someone watching her, the ...more

Katherine Rebecca Wellington grew up in New York and was groomed to be prim and proper and to one day take over the family’s prestigious law firm. Knowing that the firm had been in her family for many generations she was willing and ready to keep the business going even if it was at the expense of her own dreams.
As a young girl she once saw a magic show put on during a circus she attended and fell deep in love. She spent all of her spare time solving the tricks and illusions so that she could p

This book was a breath of fresh air! Truly didn't see this one coming! (No pun intended) A child's first encounters with various situations and people are very pivotal at a young age which in this case is Katherine Rebecca's fist experience at the circus. She grows to love and yearn for more knowledge of the mysterious world, magic, and the illusions associated but quickly finds out life had other plans for her.

"Becky" has always grown up sheltered and at a young age took on the responsibility o

FANTASTIC NOVEL!!!!!!!!!!

Illusions Begin is just as enticing as it sounds. It's not just another fantasy book. In fact, for most of the novel it's hard to remember that it IS a fantasy book. It weaves such a subtle tale of a mystical existence that it's....real. It really pulled me in. The book has so much to offer (more tha nmagic). It's a saga that encompasses self discovery, family, relationships, love, and finding your place. Who can't relate to that?

Katherine Rebecca is so full of life. She

Let's begin with, I was not expecting the form of 'magic' in this book to be magician magic. I anticipating a more magical magic, although I had not seen the cover until I began to write this review. And if I had seen the cover before I read it, I would have anticipated a much more sexually based book as the cover is quite scandalous. Anyway, that is not to say that the form of magic made the book any less interesting. The concept: Becky is a smothered child and too afraid to speak up to her lov

I was given this book to write a honest review.
It surprised how much I enjoyed this book.
I found it quite captivating and struggled to put it down. The book I feel was the very beginning of a exciting story of life, magic & finding your true self especially for the leading lady Becky.
I really liked the characters - Ethan Yum Yum he's a hot policeman and a gentleman, but then there is Blaine who is mysterious yet appears to wear his heart on his sleeve and has such a magnetic attraction to

I seriously enjoyed this book. Do you believe in Magic? If not, this story might just jump-start your imagination. The characters were great and the storyline was fun. I picked up this read and didn't put it down until I was done. The action, is thrilling. The suspense, is gripping. The mystery, is intriguing. But there is so much more, that I can't wait to read the next part of this story! A recommendation from me, this is a definite addition to anyones TBR list!

This a fun, engrossing, different story.
It's well written and the characters are engaging and interesting.

This was a good story! Kind of frustrating at first seeing Becky, living he life to please her parents and not living her life for herself. The book has some great characters that so lifelike in the way they are described. The book is well written.

This book is a great reminder that not all magic themed books have to feature wands and fantastical creatures to put its readers under a spell from which they are unable to take their eyes off the book until they reach the last page. The magic in this book is all about illusions and tricks, the kind of magic that you would go and see and then spend a week trying to figure out how it was done! To me, magicians are like rockstars, so to have an entire series dedicated to magic and the magicians be ...more

Recommends it for: young adult paranormal romance
I think it is only fair to preface this with the fact that I don’t normally read “New Adult” anything. I prefer my stories with a bit more heat. But this books storyline appealed to me. So I picked it up and I have to say, that the author had me hooked. From page one, I was turning pages. I loved how Becky dealt with the mugger on the subway. (You’ll have to read the book to find out what she did. I will say, that I was holding my sides laughing, while thinking “You go girl!”). All the while the ...more
