Based on biblical accounts, [The Mighty Men of King David] chronicles the life of the shepherd boy beyond his famed battle with Goliath. From a unique perspective, the novel highlights David's encounter, relationship, and bond with those who came to be known as his Mighty Men. The novel creatively brings each character to life by weaving in fictional personalities and stories that tie in beautifully into the factual events revealed in Scripture. With heart, the novel highlights the seldom told story of a group of outcasts taken in by David, and their extraordinary transformation into Mighty Men. The novel reveals that David's rise as king over God's chosen people was not attained through his merits alone, but by the grace of God and the help of his beloved Mighty Men
All the reviews I read are pretty much on point. I thought the fictionalized account of King David and his Mighty Men was well written for what it was intended to be. I did think they strayed a bit too far off course from factual accounts in some areas. The cliffhanger where it was and lack of a Part 2 made it disappointing. After 12 years, I doubt the brothers will finish Part 2, but I’ll buy if they do! Blessings.
This is the first book of the brothers Gutierrez. The writing is good but relies too heavy on scripture and loads David's mouth with many verses that do not belong to him. An entertaining read.
