Things Pondered was a different kind of Beth Moore book. It was a window into Beth’s tender and creative soul that before could only be viewed at her speaking engagements where she often shares her poems and short stories. The perennial success of Things Pondered proves that many continue to be moved by Beth’s reflections.Broadman & Holman is pleased to offer a second collection of Beth’s creative writings. Further Still once again proves Beth Moore a gifted, sensitive writer and poet.
Beth Moore has written many best–selling books and is a dynamic teacher and a prolific Bible–study author whose public speaking engagements take her across the United States to challenge tens of thousands. Beth is focused on teaching women all over the world and is known and respected wherever she goes. She is a dedicated wife and mother of two adult daughters and lives in Houston, Texas, where she leads Living Proof Ministries and teaches an adult Sunday school class. Beth is one of the best known women in the evangelical Christian market.
Personally and spiritually, I didn't get much out of this book; to be respectful of those who find Beth Moore spiritually beneficially I'll keep most of my thoughts to myself, with the exception to declare that her chapter on virginity was bullshit and that a woman's worth, NO MATTER WHAT, EVER stems in ANY way from her virginity, the loss of it, or the creepy ways the extremely conservative church encourages women to "reclaim" it to be somehow more "whole." (Also, if your "good Christian husband" has to make big dog and pony show out of "forgiving" you for the experiences you bring to the table, find a better Christian man. Trust.) I felt that chapter was out of place in this otherwise pretty harmless book of poems. The reason I read this book was because it was the devotional book my granny was reading when she died. I am glad to have it and because of the connection to my granny, whose faith I admired, I want to challenge myself to broaden my perspective and personal spirituality and see if upon a later re-read I can appreciate some of Beth Moore's spiritual tidbits.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I felt uplifted as well as loved. This book helped me reconnect with God and rejuvenate the relationship I have with Him. Beth really knows how to witness, encourage, and relate the word to me. I always get something out of her studies and books. I'm very thankful to have her in my life even though it's only through print and video. Beth has really helped deepen my walk in life with Christ.
Beth Moore has this brilliant way of writing that makes it seem as though you're sitting down to coffee together. Her stories and creative writings touch my very soul and bring peace to this crazy life. This book is another example of how much she truly loves sharing Jesus in very personal ways to people avidly seeking Him.
I’ve really liked Beth’s writing for awhile but this was probably one of the most near to my heart books she’s written. It gives us glimpses into her life as well as into the life of Christ as she so eloquently writes in these little snatches of poetry and vignettes.
Beth Moore is one of the most inspiring and encouraging females in Christian leadership. Her genuine honesty about her personal struggles and her overwhelming faith in God move one to stand back and take a second look at you own struggles and trials to find God's hand. Thank you Beth.
A friend gave me this at a sad time in my life. I have read bits and pieces off and on. My favorite one was Lesson with a Hairbrush. To my friend...yes it was a boost over and over. Thanks
Beth Moore gets right to the heart of what loving God looks like. She is so inspiring and she always leaves me wanting to be closer to God , to love Him more.
A lotof this material is in her other books and studies. She has pulled out inspirational stories to introduce her poems. As with any book of poetry, there were several that really stood out to me.
This was a beautiful collection of poetry and excerpts from some of the author's best loved books. I enjoyed them. Her honesty about life is refreshing and relatable. An excellent read for anyone.
