After his uncle's death, George Jones, became the new Viscount. George was an average looking guy who kept a mistress for the last eight years, Josephine, who was five years him senior, very intelligent and not your average, typical mistress material.
They shared a beautiful loving and caring relationship. In fact they loved each other. He was always faithful to her.
He'd asked her to marry him but she'd refused.
Josephine urged him to marry a lady of the ton now that he came to the title.
She planned to marry the man she loved as a girl before she came to London and circumstances forced her to become a mistress.
The man thought she was working as a maid in London.
George told Josephine he wouldn't keep a mistress if he married. He'd asked her to promise him she'll remain his friend for life.
Earl Gabriel was a very handsome young man. He had a reputation of been vain and a selfish and unsatisfactory lover. He kept three mistresses.
He'd been courting a beautiful young lady, Elizabeth, who was a philanthropist.
He'd been after her for his own selfish reasons and was expected to offer for her hand.
Josephine recommended Elizabeth as George's future bride. George got so captivated by Elizabeth, in fact it was love at first sight but he knew the betrothal announcement with the Earl was imminent.
Elizabeth had been kissed by both lords and George's kiss was by far the most enjoyable.
After meeting Elizabeth, George refrained from bedding Josephine. Their relationship changed, they've become best friends and he would visit her twice a week for tea and discuss all sorts of topics as Josephine was a very knowledgeable person.
George decided to do whatever he could to see to Elizabeth become his wife and Josephine volunteered to teach him techniques to woo the young lady.
Elizabeth had asked George if there was a way for her to get pleasured without involving intercouse.
She wanted to satisfy her curiosity but keep her virtue intact.
At the same time she did not want George to think her a wanton.
George wanted her as his wife, so he'd asked her who else she might directed that same request.
She got offended by the question and George told her he was only concerned for her reputation.
He'd asked her to promise that when the Earl offer for her hand to not let the Earl's money and superior title influence her as he himself wanted to offer for her and he'd promised her that he would never take a mistress. As his wife, he said, she would be honoured and cherished.
So the two had a secret assignation and things got quite hot. Elizabeth had been pleasured beyond her wildest dreams and expectations and thought she might be in love with George but was not sure she could marry a mere Viscount as she was expected to marry a lord of higher rank.
The next day the Earl came to visit and Elizabeth promptly stood up to him, insulted him and he offended saw his way out.
Releived Elizabeth had then proceeded to ask George to be her husband.
Josephine had married the love of her life at last, without ever revealing the true nature of her former profession. She and Elizabeth had an amicable relationship.
Josephine is the nicest other woman l've ever encountered in a book. The Hero and heroine are also very likeable.
No major drama, conflict or intense angst. A mild enjoyable read.

2.5 Three's a Crowd Stars
The blurb sets this up but makes it appear way sexier than it is. There’s nothing overly graphic or on page with George and his mistress Josephine, but which sort of rubbed me wrong. The author tries to offset this by having him instantly fall head over heels in love at first sight with the h, but we also get this the night they meet.
“You made this evening possible, you must know.” For a moment, he thought he might ask if he could spend the night, but the image of Lady Elizabeth appeared in his mind’s eye and he thought better of it.
And he’s helping her bathe, platonically… and they both act somewhat jealous of their potential relationships… and they’re BFF’s… and they love each other- just different than their partners. It’s just hard for me to buy into a swoony romance when it feels like there’re three people in the relationship.
Still, George was sweet, and Elizabeth was very likable, so I kept at it, but then nothing really happened. There’s a lot of filler (parliament, secret charity, introducing future storylines, etc.) that made for a boring read.
Bottom Line- I didn’t love the mistress dynamic. I prefer for the OW to stay in the evil/dead/dumped category, not an active participant in the relationship. I also love drama, and where there was the potential for tons of angst when Elizabeth learns of Josephine, it’s handled with total respect and zero jealousy which made me feel like she wasn’t that into him. Add his dependency of Josephine made me feel like he wasn’t that into her. This should’ve been Josie’s book, she was everywhere. I was bored- A LOT.

Utterly delightful. I was in need of a solid, decent, palate-cleansing story with good characters and without reams and beams of repetitive (and improbable and boring) sex.
This was perfect! I was a tad confused at times with the numerous characters, but I persevered and I am SO glad I did! A lovely story - some careful editing needed in a couple of places to smooth out some confusion between characters - which took it down from 4.5* but I will certainly look for more by this author. (and I loved the last sentence!!)
I have to be honest, though - I think the cover is dreadful. ;)

The reason I started my historical romance journey was because I fell for a wounded Lord and his orphaned charge in Judith McNaught's "Once and Always". Linda Rae Sande takes me back to that precious time. The Kiss of a Viscount speaks to the heart on every level. The beginning of a challenge becomes the culmination of something wonderful. I was head over heels for the story from first read and now that I've had the chance to hear this love ballad as an audio read, I am more in love than ever. If simple is sexy, than The Kiss of a Viscount is smokin' hot. A sensual feast in a sweet package.

Si buscas un típico típico romance de regencia con todas las claves que debe tener un libro de este tipo entonces estás delante de lo que necesitas.
Pero además tiene ciertos giros que no me esperaba y que han sido un soplo de aire fresco dentro del género. Primero porque las cosas no son lo que parecen y luego porque por fin tenemos a las amantes teniendo un papel más protagonista dentro de la historia, sin caer en tópicos en los que la sororidad brilla por su ausencia.
Los personajes me han enamorado y la química que, sí, es un instalove como quien dice porque pasa en cuatro días, pero aun con todo y con eso me ha encantado.
Creo que es de lo mejor que he leído dentro del género y seguiré leyendo a esta autora. La recomiendo 100%

An original take on historical English romance with various points of view each get a chapter with hilarious chapter titles which makes an good story into a better one.
Mr becomes Lord when George Bennett-Jones's uncle dies and leaves a Viscount title and a wealthy estate at the beginning of the year. His wonderfully smart mistress, Miss Josephine teaches George how to woo a worthy lady but also how to keep one for a lifetime. Josie was one cool and understanding woman that made the best of a bad situation because she really didn't have any choices when she became a mistress, but she did choose very very wisely as we see other mistresses don't always have that choice.
So Elizabeth is ready to get married after more then a few seasons and is only letting Gabriel, the handsome Earl of Trenton to court her because she thinks that there aren't any other choices. Although that is because she doesn't know that her powerful Marquess father has been culling the weak, stupid and desperate away from his smart beloved daughter. Elizabeth was a more then a bit risky with her reputation with starting her own charity for war veterans as well as getting kissing lessons from George, but she couldn't have chosen a better honorable sweet lord to fall in love with. So the obvious happens and everyone seems to get a HEA.
I'm split about how much I liked this story because it was well written and edited as well as had some original dialogue but there was something that kept the story from flowing smoothly. Perhaps it was the changing points of view? I'm not sure because I really would have liked to give this three stars but there was something off in the first third of the book.

Lady Elizabeth is in her 3rd "Season". She has had no one in all this time ask for her hand in marriage. She has started her own charity. She is finding work for disabled soldiers returning from war with the French. She wonders if she ever finds a husband will he allow her to continue her "work". An Earl with curly blonde hair decides that Elizabeth would look good as his wife - attractive, but not more attractive than him. At a Ball he walks her into the garden to steal a kiss. She described his kiss as slobbery like her friend's dog. She didn't know that George, a recently named Viscount was watching the kiss from the bushes. George has a secret weapon in his wish to win Elizabeth - his Mistress wants him to marry her. So Josephine, George's mistress, teaches him to be a great lover. When he steals a kiss from Elizabeth, she likes it and wants more. She actually dares to ask him to demonstrate what making love is like. They plan a tryst at his home. He promises to give her great pleasure and not to take her virginity. When she shows up and she agrees to slowly being stripped and seduced, he is nearly blown away by her responsiveness. He promises her that if she turns down the Earl, he will ask her father for her hand. Elizabeth must decide - an Earl she can't stand to have kiss her, or George who she doesn't know is titled and has brought her great pleasure and been trustworthy. She must take her parents' wishes into account as well.
There was eroticism, humor, generosity, friendships, growth. I really enjoyed this historical romance. Elizabeth was very forthright. George was cute in his responses to both Josephine and Elizabeth.

Good read and delightful.
I enjoyed the story line and plot in the book but some of it was a bit unrealistic.
The mistress aspect, really pushed reality. A young debutante falling in love and being ok with the hero's continued friendship with his mistress - just didn't seem realistic or sit right.
The friendship between mistress and keeper was different and nice but at times I questioned who was he really in love with? The hero and his mistress, too much time in the story spent on them and I think more time could have been spent between H&H.
The heroine being obsessed with titles was very realistic but constantly questioning the hero's viscountcy got annoying. She seemed snobbish which is something I don't enjoy in a character.
It would have made more sense if it was her parents being obsessed with the required title/station rather than the heroine but it wasn't. There was a lack of communication between heroine and her parents.

A palate cleansing read that provided belly laughs when needed in the midst of the more serious side of finding a suitable life partner in the 1800's where women were expected to be biddable accessories bearing children and counting themselves fortunate to be provided for. It is always a welcome change when you find someone like George who is a kind, courteous, passionate, trustworthy man and chooses to finally marry for love rather than personal gain. Elizabeth comes to realize that money and physical beauty do not mean much when the man himself is not even likable, lucky for her George proves to be delightful company.

This was a very good book
In most historical romances the woman often is either stuck up or fragile. Elizabeth is not. She is strong and uses her wealth and title to help wounded soldiers secure jobs. George is a viscount and not your normal overbearing man that has normally loved is this era, but a sweet, understanding person. Their a perfect match and I loved watching their romance as it unfolded.

This was a cozy, charming read with just the right amount of wit and swoon. The main couple had great chemistry, and I appreciated that the romance actually built over time instead of insta-love (though I did want to shake them both a few times for being so clueless about their feelings 😂).
There's a good mix of society gossip, ballroom scenes, and some awkward-but-endearing courtship moments. Nothing super high-stakes or dramatic, which honestly made it kind of comforting. A perfect pick if you’re in the mood for something light and a little old-fashioned in the best way.
Docking a star just because the pacing dragged a bit in places, but I’ll definitely be checking out the next book in the series!

At first I was taken by the handsome lad who did not know how to 'love' a lady but then George was thrown into the picture to compete with the apparent leading lady Elizabeth. However, not to long after I did not like Butter Blond that much, the clad need to know how to treat people with respect. Furthermore, boy oh boy, hats off to the mastermind Josephine. I have one query, how is it so convenient that the heirs of all those titled men seem to drop dead like flies? I also noticed the writing technique of flashback helped carry the story along.

I believe this is the first I read of Linda Rae Sande's - 4 years ago - and it made me a fan. I loved George's character. Very refreshing in this genre.
It made me LOL on several occasions - especially while reading the discussion between Lady Elizabeth and her father near the end. George's mistress, Josephine, played and important role, working behind the scenes; she was instrumental in getting George "in shape". The supporting characters - especially Elizabeth's father and his relationship with a former mistress and his wife - gave the story more depth. I highly recommend this story.

I get lost in Linda Rae Sande's writing. The storyline and characters are believable and fun, makes it hard to stop reading. I like that Lady Elizabeth is an enterprising woman especially in a time where women were meant to be ornaments. The men in Linda's books are quite ready to support the women they love. This is an added bonus for me ready her books. If you haven't read her books yet you simply must do so.

I can say I’ve never come across this storyline before and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Characters were well defined and the writer easily drew me in.
The writer handled George’s journey from heir to viscount and his relationship with his long time mistress, with thought and care. I really liked Josephine. Though the courtship/romance between George and Elizabeth was short, it was rather intense, and so rather believable. I quite enjoyed their journey to their HEA.

I truly enjoyed the story. Probably more of a 3.8. I fully enjoyed the last half of the story more so. I was up until almost 3am to finish it. That warrants the 4 stars. I just had to know the rest as there was no good stopping point once I was halfway through. I am a fan of George and Elizabeth. Happy with her decision!

Really good!
This is a lively romp into the lives of the Aristocracy with just the right level of romancing and heat to make it very readable and most enjoyable.
The characters are well formed and I particularly liked the enquiring, inquisitive mind shown by Elizabeth and the patience of George.
I am quite happy to recommend this book for its entertainment value!

Outstanding
The hero and his love in this novel is what makes the telling of this story wonderful. Continue with this series . This is the first novel I have read by Ms Sande and will not be the last. Recommend all to read this.

A true Victorian romance
High society etiquette and rules of engagement were so difficult during Elizabeth's and George's courtship. Linda Sande did a beautiful job in creating the plot and characters into a sweet, romantic love story. A great book.

No one said historic romance novels had to be serious all the time. I quite enjoyed this book with its real world related curiosity entangled with comedy and, of course, steamy romance.

Could be 5 stars
This is obviously her debut effort and a very good one. Once you get past the disarray of the first 2 chapters, it is well worth the read. All it needs is a little tidying up by a good editor.
