Irenäus Eibl-Eibesfeldt was an Austrian ethnologist in the field of human ethology. In authoring the book which bears that title, he applied ethology to humans by studying them in a perspective more common to volumes studying animal behavior.
The book was written by a compatriot of Hans Hass. The author would go on to help create the Charles Darwin Research Foundation on the Galapagos Islands. A good book for anyone interested in the history of exploration of the Galapagos Islands.
