Not since the Great Jackalope Stampede of ’58 has tumbleweed-choked Jackrabbit Junction, Arizona seen so much action. Claire Morgan is determined to unravel the mystery behind a stolen treasure before goons come gunning for it—and her family. But all the strangers roaming around town have her anxiety red-lining. Then her mother shows up …

Another awesome addition to my Ann Charles collection! The latest instalment in the Jackrabbit Junction series doesn't disappoint with its mixture of hilarity, hijinks, and another great mystery to solve! Join Claire and her dysfunctional family for another fun romp. You won't be sorry!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is the 3rd installment in the Jackrabbit Junction Series. All of our favorite characters are here, as well as the less than favorite....Deborah. lol! Claire is her usual self, looking into conspiracy theories and driving us crazy with her inability to admit to herself that she is already in a committed relationship with the ever faithful Mac. What is she waiting for??? This guy was made for her....literally!! We get to see more antics from the loveable old coots, aka Gramps & his cronies. I always find myself laughing at their banter. We also follow Claire's sister, Ronnie, on an adventure that leads her to tangle with a local "gang" of older gals at the library, as well as multiple incidents with the last type of man she thought she would ever get involved with. Meanwhile, sister Katie, is dealing with a problem on her own while Butch is out of town.
This book has humor, love, lies, a dead body, a jaunt down a mine shaft, handcuffs in a storage closet and multiple "meetings" in the library's ladies room! Overall, another excellent addition to the series. I can't wait to read the next adventure!
A great third book in this series! Our Claire Morgan must return to the RV Park in this dusty, hot Arizona town to help her grandfather build an additional restroom for the RV park. Gramps falls off the roof, and her cousin Natalie comes to help her finish the restroom. Her overly critical mother decides to pay a visit, and both of her sisters are in residence too. Mystery, romance, mayhem all ensue. A few surprises in this one and lots of action with three, no four, romances to keep track of. There are lots of shady dealings going on in the mines, and at the archaeology dig discovered in book two of the series. Lots of nostalgia with the country music references too. A lot happens in this book. I highly recommend it and suggest that if you haven't read the first two books of the series, you do so before reading this one. They are Dance of the Winnebagos, and Jackrabbit Junction Jitters. I recently reread them in preparation of this book, and laughed harder the second time through.
Another most excellent book in the series. I had the opportunity to participate in the beta review of the book and kept having reminding myself that I was supposed to be read for errors! Claire's Mom makes an appearance as does Natalie from the Deadwood series... ok, if I keep typing I'll give the entire plot away, LOL! My advice is to head too your favorite bookseller, buy the book, stock up on food for the family and start reading!
I have so enjoyed every book I've read by Ann Charles and can now add The Great Jackalope Stampede to the list. The characters are such a delight and funny. It's a mystery with humor and romance. If you haven't tried any of Ann Charles books, now is the time to start.
I have read all the books in this series and they dont disapoint!.. This book has mystery, romance, comedy. it basically has it all!! Claire and the gang are up to their usual craziness... You wont be disapointed in reading this book..
Ann Charles did another great job with this book!! It was great to meet Claire's sisters and learn more about their relationships and entanglements. You won't go wrong by reading this latest addition to the Jackrabbit Junction series!! Way to go Ann - now you need to write the next one.
The books get better with each one. This go along has you living the life with all the Morgan sisters and the trouble that comes with them. Loved meeting and spending time with Claire, Kate, Ronnie and all the old men in their lives. Gotta give this a read.
What a fun read! This is the third book in a great series. Claire and crew are so entertaining. Mystery, romance, and fun all rolled up in a laugh out loud package. Anxiously awaiting the next book in the series!
This is a wonderful series. The character are unforgetable. This series has plenty of mystery but a good amount of humor is thrown in as well. When I read these books I want to jump in an RV and head to the park.
Like most cozies, not very good. There's this family, and they bicker, and they all have girlfriends/boyfriends, and they bicker too, and about half of the book was that. Maybe 10% was a mystery, and not a very good one. Lots of dialog, so it reads fast, but it's almost entirely empty dialog. I tried to do a search for the word "Where's"--as in "Where's (character)?"--to see if the number of times it was used topped 100 or not (but failed figuring out how to do that on my ereader.) It never actually mattered where that character was--not to the plot, it didn't. It was just chit-chat, the way you'd say it without any real interest if you walked into a crowded house around the holidays. You know, "Where's Aunt Maribelle?" "Taking a nap." "Oh, okay." I work very very hard to avoid such empty conversations in real life, and here's this book, just bulging with them. So if you like meaningless chit-chat among family members who don't particularly like each other (but would say they loved each other anyway, which has never made sense to me), this is your series. Have at it, and have fun.
Like most cozies, it's supposed to be funny, and I never cracked a smile. But it was grammatical and all...so I can't give it the lowest rating. I can, however, avoid reading more books by the author, and I will.
This is the 3rd in the series and my favorite book so far. I loved that all 3 sisters are in this book and the story line is wonderful. I laughed so hard reading this story!!!
Claire and Mac while still a big part of this story do not appear to be the main characters in this one and that is ok. I loved how much Ronnie has changed in this book, it is wonderful and her interaction with the sheriff will have you rolling in your seat. I loved the growing romance and love between these two, would love for them to have their own book I enjoyed them so much in this one.
Then you have Katie, whose hormones are everywhere. You have to read it to understand.
In addition we have people looking for Joe's stolen artifacts and bad guys looking for Ronnie.
Wonderfully written, a plot that is fantastic, romance and comedy. Read it, you will love it!!!
Once again we visit the Winnebago RV Park where we enter the crazy world of Claire and her friends and family! This story is such a HOOT as are all of Ann Charles’ books. You are never disappointed by any of the stories because of all the fun and action in them. There is mystery…fun times and even a little romance thrown in. Ann Charles writes in such an expressive way that the characters seem to come alive and you experience everything that is going on. This is the third book in this series and in order to fully enjoy it you should definitely start with the first book “Dance of the Winnebagos” so you can meet the colorful characters and enjoy all of their antics. I highly recommend these stories to everyone that is looking for a good story and enjoys a mystery with a little…OK…a lot of humor in them! Thank you Ms. Charles for another entertaining story from your creative mind!
This is another of those mildly amusing almost mystery stories. I read the first in the series--Dance of the Winnebagos. It takes place in Arizona where there is a large family of women--all hoping to hook up with the right man, etc. Claire Morgan is quite a handyman type--can do plumbing, etc. She and her two sisters are dismayed when their mother shows up for a visit. There is an antique watch which a bunch of them get excited about--German--probably scammed by their now grandmother's former husband. The main problem seems to be finding places to have sex with various partners. Don't bother with this one--very lightweight!
One of the great things about reading the next book in a series is that you already know the characters (well at least some of them.) So within a few pages of starting the Great Jackalope Stampede I was already cracking up at their antics and the situations that were developing.
It never fails to amaze me the trouble that Claire manages to get herself into, and it seems that her sisters are equally prone to trouble.
This was a seriously fun read that I enjoyed immensely. Can't wait for the next one to arrive, there are so many possibilities for future fun and mayhem.
This is the 3rd book in this series. I think this one is the best. It gets into Claire's family and all their antics. I really liked the sheriff in this one. It brings into play Claire's sisters and all the problems with the mother who shows up unwanted by the girls and their grandfather. It really tells a lot of each character's personality and phobias. Two things in this one is Sheriff "Hardass" and his constance in just showing up, and Manny and his love machine, that brings extra humour in the mix. Good book!
Third book in the Jackrabbit Junction series and a great read. I literally laughed out loud several times at the pervasive wackiness. Ann Charles continues to create fabulously eccentric characters and hilarious and fun situations. I didn't think I would like Claire's older sister, Ronnie, but she's now one of my favorite characters as is her heartthrob Sheriff Harrison. The mystery was well plotted and the end left me wanting more as usual. Loved this book and the whole series. I've got to wait until next year for book 4? Say it isn't so! Highly recommended.
The gang is back in Jack Rabbit Junction along with a few new exciting additions that sizzle the pages and take your breath away! This book is full of suspense, romance, and family craziness. Danger lurks, love blooms and many laugh out loud moments. There were times I wanted to shake some sense into a couple of the characters but what would Jack Rabbit Junction be without making me crazy at times? I really enjoyed this book, and I wonder what this series has coming for us next!
Another great installment in the Jackrabbit Junction series. I love the characters and the books are a great lighthearted read. The are fun brain candy. I can't wait for the next book to see what new trouble Claire, Ronnie and Katie get into. I also love the Deadwood series and can't wait for the next book in that series. I highly recommend Ann Charles' books. I just love her writing and her characters. I also loved the Natalie crossover.
Ms. Charles has hit it out of the park again! Book 3 is as good or possibly even better than the other 2. I cannot wait to read what happens next. Engaging story with extremely witty characters. unfortunately, before you know it the book is over. This book was especially great as it had Nat forme the deadwood series in it! Hoping these great reads keep on coming!
this has got to be the best book I have ever read. I have read all of Ann Charles books, and each one is better than the last. The laugh out loud scenes were unbelievable and soooo true to life's reality. I can't wait for the next one to come out. I will be first in line to buy it. Keep up the great work Ann Charles! Your fans need more Deadwood and Jackrabbit!
This story gives a lot of laugh outloud moments. A active group of characters keeps you wondering what can and will happen next. A few love situations, knockdown drag it out fights, hit men, and family support everywhere makes this book fun to read.
This is book three in this series and I love it as much as the first! The characters are great and the family dynamics will keep you on your toes. As always there is a mystery to be solved and plenty of surprises! Thank you Ann Charles, I am looking definitely looking forward to reading more!
I have read all the books in this series and they dont disapoint!.. This book has mystery, romance, comedy. it basically has it all!! Claire and the gang are up to their usual craziness... You wont be disapointed in reading this book..
Loved the sisters, missed the new mysteries. I kind of felt like I was waiting for something more. I guess it was just great getting to know the Morgan sisters! I can't wait till the next one.
I admit to being mildly disappointed by this book. There seemed to be more soap opera and less action than is normal for an Ann Charles book. We are introduced to the last of the Moegan sisters, Veronica, who comes to town with some branch of organized crime on her trail. Sisters Claire and Katie have their own relationship troubles and the bulk of the book deals with their largely ineffectual ways of dealing with their problems. For the Morgan girls, honesty is never the best policy. Throw in the other usual suspects: hated mother, Deborah; Beloved though cranky Grandpa, Harley and his new wife, Ruby, her daughter Jess; and the boys, Mac, Manny and Chester, you've got romances, broken hearts, surprises and a dash of humor. Natalie Beals from the author's Deadwood series makes a cameo appearance as well. Unfortunately for me the action is limited to a brief skirmish in the depths of the Lucky Monk mine with a couple of relic smugglers that is over all too soon. Ann Charles is one of my favorite writers and I will move on to the next book in the series in the hope it is faster paced.
Well this book has lots of people in it and sometimes its hard to figure out whose who at first. It a mountain type of family story. It seemed kind of boring getting used to what was going on for everyone. Claire went with Mac then there Ronnie (Veronica) Jess a teenager , her mom Dorothy, grandpa , the cop, and some others. They owned the trailer park and a small store .Claire suspected some one must be hiding some stolen item in the mines near by or elsewhere. A watch worth lots of money and other items or artifacts. So be prepared later on in the story where it started to get crazy and interesting.
Although this book is supposed to be about Ronnie and it is to a great extent, Claire's personality overwhelms all. The book has great characters, Claire, Mac, Gramps and his sidekicks, Ruby, Ronnie, Kate and the others, each one memorable. The book is a bit on the steamy side, but not disgusting to so. The narrative is not earth shattering, but this does not matter so much because the day to day activities of the gang keeps you reading. The love/hate dynamics of the family also keep you read. A good read, go ahead and enjoy.
