Original production artwork from Bladerunner. Artwork by Syd Mead, Mentor Huebner, Charles Knode, Michael Kaplan, and Ridley Scott. All sepia ink, with environments, vehicles, costumes, weapons, graphics, and descriptions of worldbuilding.
For those seeking a closer look at the world of Bladerunner. Film sketches of interest to science-fiction fans, artists, and automotive enthusiasts. My favorite sketch was the Cyro-crypt.
Not too big, contains design sketches of few Vehicles, props and apartment interiors made in the pre-production stage by master designer Syd Mead and few sketches done by Ridley Scott himself, to convey his vision across Art department, which the Art department guys named 'Ridleygrams'. More design sketches of Costumes and weapons by other artists which are really cool. All artworks in grayscale. Recommended for anyone interested in behind the scenes art direction workflow.
Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?"
Ok this is not a large book - consisting mainly of monochrome drawings. However it is a fascinating look in to the work put in to the creation of such an influential movie. Ok less of the spiel and more as to why I have it and why I read it. IT all stems from my brothers love of the work of Syd Mead who it seen as one of the most influential artists of the futurist (NOT science fiction) styles who contributed many things to the film including the iconic spinners. Anyway I was lucky enough to stumble across this book and add it to my collection. so the book - the page quality could be better and the use of sepia colors may not be the best but as I said earlier the material it contains is amazing. Lets see what the next blade runner movie gives us
