It is not just wheat or grains in general, but carbohydrates in excess that put on more weight than you can burn with a six-day a week work-out schedule. You cannot eat whatever you want and burn it off with exercise, but you can exercise significantly less and still not put on weight by eating well. I believe this book is a good move in that direction.
People completely misunderstand what Atkins is and the science behind it. It is very close to keto but he he actually adds in different carbs throughout each step. This was a perfect short book showing how low carb is a great way to live. I lost a lot of weight eating 20net carbs or less but am now at a point that maintaining my weight is easy at 50-100 carbs per day. I already follow this plan and will continue to do so because it works. I am in great shape and health and most importantly, I love the food!
Having already read one of the main Atkins books, I really appreciated how concise this book is. It was even more concise since I listened to it rather than read it, and it was an abridged format too!
Good book as a refresher if you already know the basics. A good prelude if you are thinking about doing low carb and have never been on the Atkins diet before.
