This is a dry, textbook-like overview of Austrian history, the end post-WW II through the 1980s is abbreviated to a few pages and as-is, to a lesser extent, pre-monarchial times from the Romans to the Hapsburgs. In between is the slow tragedy of empire ground away by Turkish incursions and ending up on the wrong side of empire-building and two world wars. The detailed explanation of the steps leading to WW I from Austria's point of view makes this interesting for anyone interested in the peculiar circumstances leading to that global conflict.
