Torn Apart is a fast-paced thriller and so exciting, I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. It was very well written and true to life - especially the mentality and behaviour of certain gang members who think they are above the law. I will definitely be reading more from this author.

Hero Nelson and his team are a likeable bunch. His wife supports him in his busy job as a DI. A very intriguing whodunnit. With a surpise at the very end.

I’m no police officer but I’d imagine if a crime was committed and it was all on CCTV and this was discovered as early on as chapter two I’d guess the police would arrest those individuals, seeing as they knew their names, and the case would be shut. This book can’t have been researched. Very poor.

Having read and enjoyed all the Justice series novels written to date by M A Comley, I had to read ‘Torn Apart’, the first in her new Hero series. I had the feeling that this was going to be another great read and in fact by the end I was not disappointed.

‘Torn Apart’ is a fast paced, edge of your seat thriller full of twists and turns that makes you turn the pages at a staggering speed to see what will happen next. The principal characters in this novel are DI Hero Nelson and his partner DS Jul

Torn apart is shocking from the start with an incident at McDonald's that would make me use the drive thru if I went with just my kids.

Saskia thought she was the luckiest girl in the world. Little did she know a trip to McDonald's would be so horrific. This is just the start...this leads on to more.....

Gang warfare, police investigation impeded by a "helpful" journalist and an unknown party getting involved leads to an addictive read with deaths in gruesome ways. I thought I had the unknown part

A Powerful, Engrossing Story of Tragedy and Salvation to Touch You – Do not miss it!

Torn Apart, by its very definition of its title is about ripping emotions into pieces. It does that with your heart. This is tragedy and inevitability without the gloss of Hollywood. This is real lives suffering and finding a way through. It’s also a shattering story of salvation. An allegory on the frustrations that follow injustice. When the system fails, where do you turn? When hope is torn from you, what do y

After finishing the excellent Justice series I couldn't wait to read more from the fantastic Mel Comley. 'Torn Apart' provided me with that very opportunity. And I was not disappointed... If you are not familiar with Mel's work then you are truly missing out. Another five star read from a five star author.

A compact story of Hero and police proceedings.
Packed story about gangs and turf wars... graphic stat to the book.

First in the series, would read more.

I wasn't too struck on this one as it's a little shorter than the 200+ pages I usually insist upon. However, I'd enjoyed some of this author's Justice series so gave it a go. I really like her new characters and I liked the story but there are still too many daft errors for my liking. They're the reason I gave up with the other series. One especially happened at a really crucial time in the book and made me want to sling my Kindle across the room in frustration. I looked up book 2 in this set an ...more

This is the first book in the DI Hero Nelson series and even though I have read books four onwards in the series I realised I had not actually read the first three!! So after I realised I was going to have to self-isolate for several weeks I downloaded book one last night and got cracking on with my reading!

The book is a fast paced story that holds your attention right from the outset through to the brilliant ending. The story is quite dark and gruesome in

What would you do?

Just what would you do if your entire world was destroyed? This book deals with Britans Council Housings and the low life thugs who terrorise helpless residents as well as those around the vicinity. It's most interesting to see how British cops deal with them and it makes me glad I'm in America. What happens when the gang members kill two innocents and then begin to die gruesome deaths. What happens next is the story of what happens when someone's world is torn apart. I really

Really enjoyed this story. I felt Hero's frustrations with being hog-tied and unable to adequately fight these gangs. The limitations of British police work came across clearly in this story, especially when compared to the freedom American officers have in fighting crime. The story is well-written, with good action, and a good balance between the protangist's life at work and home. The ending absolutely came out of left-field; the mark of an excellent author. Very pleased.

Gang violence taking over parts of a town--murder, rape and the detectives hands are tied. Then an anonymous avenger begins getting even. Fast read, interesting plot. I rate this a 4.3.

A good read.

For a short story this was a good read, but I wouldn't recommend it to any one who is squeamish as it is quite gruesome in parts. A good plot with a fantastic twist
