Firefighter Cash Ryder loves his job. He believes in being prepared for all situations so when he finds a car skidded off the road, he’s more than ready for a rescue. What he isn’t ready for is the feisty and stubborn Siena and the feelings she makes him feel.
As a famous model, Siena is used to men only seeing her face and her body. Seeing her siblings find love, makes her want nothing more than her own real-life romance. And gruff and handsome Cash seems to have potential until he opens his mouth and aggravates the hell out of her.
When a firefighter calendar throws then together again, neither can ignore the explosive chemistry between them. With every verbal sparring and passionate touch they fall deeper, but Siena has a secret, one that might just mean the end of her fairy tale romance.
“Careful,” he whispered. “You’re playing with fire, and I’m a master at controlling the flames.”
I liked Siena, although near the end I wanted to shake her for not making the right choice sooner and choosing Cash over her career. She really took too long to see how wrong it was what she was doing.
I struggled with liking Cash at first, he came across as judgemental but the more we got to see his struggle with overcoming the grief and feeling of failure from the fire rescue where he couldn’t safe everyone, how hard it was for him coming to terms with what happened, the more I liked him. He was so good with Siena, always challenging her, seeing more than just her pretty face and body, and I loved how possessive he was over her and how he took care of her. He was so gruff in the beginning, but also so sweet and sexy as the story progressed.
He lowered his mouth a breath away from hers. “Don’t fuck with my heart. I can’t afford any more scars.” He searched her eyes, seeing the want there, the need, for him.
“I don’t scar,” she whispered. “I soothe.”
The romance had quite a bit of drama, especially with both of them so hot-headed and all the drama her secret caused. Luckily there was a lot of sweet and sexy moments to balance it out.
I love all the Remington siblings and I really want to read Kurt the reclusive writer’s book. This was another sweet romance by Melissa foster.
This might just be my favorite book in the series yet. I wasn't sure I could get into a story about a model, but Melissa Foster hasn't steered me wrong yet.
Siena is immediately likeable, and while her job might not be something many of us can relate to, her character is one hundred percent down to earth. Where I expected jet-setting and name-dropping, there was instead a woman wishing for the same kind of romance everyone else around her has found -- and who can't relate to that at one time or another?
And Cash...damn. I'm pretty sure he's the reason this is my favorite book so far. He's all kinds of hot, dealing with a hell of a lot of guilt from a failed rescue at a fire, and so damned romantic despite his gruff exterior that it's no wonder Siena can't keep away from him.
Their chemistry together, even when they initially can't stand each other, is simply off the charts, and while they move past the miscommunications rather quickly, they don't fall victim to insta-love. Theirs is a getting-to-know-you relationship, made more difficult by the publicity demands of Siena's career, and while it definitely made for some challenges, I'm so glad it didn't go super-angsty. Instead, it was the catalyst for something bigger between them, leading up to their figuring out exactly what they could and couldn't handle as a couple.
Flames of Love is a steamy read about two people stumbling into and fumbling their way to a real relationship, despite their differences and misgivings. Neither one of them lacks for individual confidence, but they're no experts at relationships, and that's what makes the story so fun. Their banter and honesty with each other had me falling in love right along with them, and I think the only reason I'm not freaking out that the story ended is because I know I'll probably get a peak at them later in the series.

"Careful..You're playing with fire, and I'm a master at controlling the flames."
"You have to be certain you want me, because If I kiss you, I'm not going to stop."
"You're like a fire. I want to study you, understand you, and learn what makes you lose control."

“Hey, you all right in there?” A man’s deep voice broke through her worry. “Yes! Help me. Please!” Oh, thank God. “Hurry. Please hurry.” Siena gasped a breath before realizing that any sane person would be covered up in this weather. Her heartbeat picked up as she stared at the mask that covered everything but a swatch of skin around serious dark eyes. Sexy dark eyes, filled with serious concern. Jesus, what am I thinking? “Please help me.”
Is it too much to want a guy who pays attention to more than my looks? Who picks up on the little things? Unsaid things?
Siena lifted her eyes just in time to see Cash walk through the door. Holy crap. No way he’s modeling.
Siena couldn’t concentrate. How could she when his pants hung just low enough to reveal the curve of his abs where they sank below his hips and dipped toward the center in a sexy V as they traveled south?
