Kurohime is a big busty witch with the command of magical guns. She was once foolish enough to challenge the Gods and in doing so was punished. A curse was put on her that turned her into a little girl. The only way she can break this curse and turn back in to her big bad buxom self is to fall in love! This premise leads Kurohime on all kinds of crazy adventures in a magical land full of dangerous surprises.
Think of wild west shoot outs with demons and you are here! One of the reasons I love manga so much is that there is the 'suspension' of the suspension of disbelief...you have to just go with it! So a gorgeous woman who is the fastest draw killing demons...hey! It happens all the time!
Shounen is not usually my genre. Actually I usually turn my nose up at it in general but this book and series rubbed me the right way and I found it very enjoyable.
80 chapters. I cried. I banged my head on the wall. I screamed. I yelled. I bitched. I slapped the screen. My head killed me with pain and frustration and sadness... I wanted to kill something (inanimate).. Overall? This was a LONG twisting 'god-whyyyy-bangs-head-on-walls-so-many-complications-ahhhhhhhhh' journey. I LOVED this epically amazing story. This is unforgettable. It made me feel so many god-awful feelings and delighted/happy ones. I was left EXTREMELY SATISFIED.. Although yes, indeed, there were moments I wanted to tear this manga in half and shred it into many flammable pieces... but I GOT OVER THEM!XD
Kurohime, the world's most renowned witch-gunslinger has been dead for ten years, or so goes the rumor. However, what really happened was that the beautiful, ruthless and nigh-unto all-powerful sorceress petitioned to the gods that she was so powerful that she should be let into the club with the rest of them. What it got her was a curse - she's trapped in the body of a small child. Only love can break the spell, which is convenient for her that she meets Zero. She saved his life when he was down on his luck and he's got more than enough adoration to bring her back - so long as she's not being a bitch to him.
Too bad her nature hasn't changed much.
It's high energy, and the concept is there, but there's something a little off about the visual style. I plan on reading more, but right now it's mostly just a fun read. Good for a day at the beach.
Definitely had potential but I overall didn't like the manga. Kurohime isn't likable and Zero is but the story isn't about him, so it's not enough to save the story. Yuka was the most interesting part of the manga, but the rest of the antagonist characters were very juvenile and pathetic. I'll take a pass on continuing this series.
Pretty much encapsulates almost everything wrong with Shonen manga. Cheap, disposable, forgettable, with women depicted as users and abusers and boys as innocents who are easily duped and manipulated.
Silly and over the top, don't really feel the desire to read a second volume
