‘You’re one step away from the adventure of your life…’

This was an excellent and highly engaging Bible study guide. It was actually recommended to me by the minister at my own church so I went into it with high expectations and it certainly didn’t disappoint.

This guide really tests you with questions to get to the bottom of what you want from life, God’s calling for you and teaches you how to wait while God is at work behind the scenes.

There are 6 sections - each with a purpose. These include facing your fears and choosing not to let fear have the last word; discovering and embracing the unique calling of God on your life; and experiencing the power of God to accomplish what you would not be capable of doing on your own.

Relating all sections back to Matthew 14, John Ortberg invites us to consider the incredible potential that awaits us outside of our comfort zone. I found this book particularly helpful as it asked questions for you to answer, it wasn’t just a book to read. It really helped me to identify where and how I can grow in my faith and step out in trust that the Lord God has my back.

“…but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”

This was a book I studied in a Bible study class at church. The book's title comes from Peter's experience of walking on water with Jesus. Readers are challenged to get of their boat in order to fulfill whatever it is God is leading them to do. The book discusses what keeps people from getting out the boat, how they can take steps to overcome their fears, and how to know if they are doing what God wants for them. Each chapter comes with some discussion questions that can be done on your own or with a group, as well as insights on how you can use what you are learning in your everyday life.

First half was great, connected with several things. Toward the end felt a little thrown together like the author wasn’t sure how to end it. Overall good book I’d recommend
