Welcome to Hill's Creek, Texas, where the townsfolk like their secrets the same way they like their steaks . . . big and juicy. Don't worry. Nobody's secrets stay buried for long.

Until his socialite sister took a swan dive out her penthouse window, FBI Agent Jonah White’s life had been fairly simple: track down bad guys and slap a pair of silver bracelets on them. Nursing

This is a wonderful love story with lots to keep up with. Characters that are wonderful, colorful and demanding. The author has so many twists and turns your head will be spinning. This book is hard to put down, each time you think you have it worked out the author changes it around.

Maya is a mother, wife to a husband (Eli) who is a scammer. He dies and leaves debts, along with bad men who want their money back at any cost. As a parent there isn't much we would not do to keep are children safe.

I think the book was centered around forgiveness. Forgiveness for a brother who failed his sister. Forgiveness for a father and husband who was doing the wrong things because of another father and husband guilty conscious. A mother who is barely scraping by and only wants to so what's best for the daughter she loves. Is there a lie so big that it can be redeemed? What is the price paid for that redemption? Sometimes the wrong things we do for the right reasons have a butterfly effect and doesn't ...more

Special agent Jonah White (FBI) was headed to her boss’s office Frank Williamson. The paper said that Alexis White (Lexie) his sister committed suicide. That was a lie she was murdered. The 2 discussed the matter in great detail. $50 thousand (inheritance) had vanished. Elias (Eli) Savantes (32) is dead also, he was the 1 who supposedly killed her. Frank told Jonah to take a leave of absence. Jonah BMF/Special agent Jon Luc Morlay talked about the case also.
He gave him some pictures/case file.

Danger and murder all twisted up with a beautiful love story will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Agent Jonah White lost his sister, many say to suicide, but he didn’t believe it. Not his little sister. When he went in search of the truth, no matter who got hurt, he ran into trouble with a capital T. Could he find the killer and seek revenge without placing even more innocent victims in the killer’s path.

This book has such an interesting plot. I could not quit reading. It has a lot of intrigue and not much romance.

Another barely OK read..

One reviewer called the 5 year old daughter, Lily, ADORABLE? She kicks her mother in the shin at the funeral and tells Maya that it’s Maya’s fault her daddy’s dead. Really? That’s ADORABLE to you? If there hadn’t been a change in the kid’s attitude I would have quit reading. I just hate when an author feels the need to make kids unlikable brats, and keeps her that way.

Oh, and the “makeover” took up way too much time. And then it went downhill from there. When Jonah asked

FBI Special Agent Jonah White does not believe the official determination of suicide in the death of his sister. He believes Eli Savantes killed her for the inheritance she received, but Eli turns up dead and all official action has stopped. Jonah does not accept this and decides to follow up on the only other connection, the wife of the man Jonah believes to be his sister’s killer.

Maya Savantes, wife of Eli Savantes, has a daughter Lily who is five years old. She lives in Hills Creek, Texas, in
