Whenever I can't find a book that interests me, I know I can always count on Western Historical Romances to get me out of a reader's slump. Ms Holland's "Stormy Montana Sky" definitely was a sweet and page turning story of Harriet and Ant. Fell in deep and didn't put the book down once while reading from beginning to end.
I so enjoy this series! It is a nice refreshing change from the contemporary romances. While I do enjoy the more graphic and perhaps somewhat hasty relationships of the contemporary romances, subtler ones such as these that leave more to the imagination and are a bit more wholesome are a welcome palette cleanser.
In all three titles of this series I've read so far Holland really lets the romantic tension build and simmer. There is always a bit of suspenseful action to ratchet things up a bit as well which I thoroughly enjoy.
While religion does play a role (something I think is an accurate portrayal of early settler life) it is not preachy or overwhelming, something I find somewhat rare in the american historical romance genre. I'm definitely open to suggestions of other series that read similarly to Holland's if you have any to share!
I have been enjoying the residents of Sweetwater Springs. I wasn't a big fan of Harriet in the prior books, but I started liking her in this book. You find out about her background. She is rescued by "Ant" and then starts helping him look for his missing nephew. I liked how their relationship grew. Added bonus of the book, you get updates on the main characters from the previous books.
Once again Debra has captured our hearts with cowboy romance. This second book of this series pairs the dashing tall, dark, and handsome cowboy whose heart has been broken by the tragic deaths of two women he'd loved with the young and beautiful school teacher who too is pining for a lost love. Harriet had lost what she thought was the love of her life to another woman. Anthony Gordon comes to Sweetwater Springs in search of his nephew, David, who had been kidnapped by his father after he murdered David's mother. Circumstances bring Anthony and Harriet together, joining forces to find and save David. While they both long for their lost loves, they soon find that they have lost their hearts to each other. Can't wait to read the next book in this series.
Every book of this series continues to be stellar! Romantic! Exciting! Human. So enticing has she made her Sweetwater Springs that I am determined to move to Montana and find an equivalent to this fictional town (actually I'm assuming it's fictional, maybe it's based off a real town.) Their love of community and the Lord is infectious.
It's sexy but without the sex. Usually that would bug me as I love steamy romances but her stories are so interesting and really center around our love for family and children that I could care less. She makes up for it though by describing the man's lusty natures!
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Read these! I insist!
Sweet, Terrifying, Loving is how I describe the story of Harriet, Any & David. As any severely abused child can tell you, you erect walls around your soul to protect what the abuser cannot reach. It is sad to know the effects of violence visited up a child endure well into adulthood. Thank you Ms. Holland for writing what must have been a difficult story. It's good to bring it out into the light. Please read this book. Even today this kind of abuse still occurs. I know, because as a teacher I am aware of parent's complicity. Nonetheless I cannot comprehend how an adult can hurt a child. Be aware, listen, help to stop child abuse.
This third book in the series adds a new character and ties up loose ends with a previous character. But the author adds the perspective of a young boy who was mistreated and abused. These stories go way beyond the typical Boy Meets Girl. They have details of secondary characters, actual interaction with previous characters, and the author expands the characters from around the town rather than the typical method of sticking to known characters. I hope this series has many books.
Harriet is the goodhearted teacher for the small town of Sweetwater Springs, but she's hiding a broken heart. She's been in love with Nick forever, but he just married someone else. Stumbling away from the wedding reception, Harriet walks into the forest, gets injured, and is rescued by Anthony, a traveler. Anthony is desperately following the trail of his nephew, whose father murdered his wife, Anthony's sister. Now the boy is in danger, and Anthony is trying to save him. Harriet and Anthony join forces, fall in love, and save the day. It's deeper than that but I've run short of time.
Anthony "Ant" Gordon is still reeling from the death of his sister and the love of his life, Isabella. His search for his nephew had lead him to Sweetwater Springs. After a chance accident, Ant finds the school teacher, Harriet with and ankle injury. After rescuing her, Ant and Harriet combine efforts to find his nephew. Will they find David, his nephew and their happily ever after or will everything fall apart?
I like Debra Holland's stories. I wish there was a bit more subject matter, than boy meets 👧. Book three did have murder as a side line. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for book #4. So far, I'm still entertained enough to keep 📚. The entire 9 📚. So I guess they have more than just a little appeal.
So this one was excellent as well. Story is written so well and so fluidly smooth. Ant, short for Anthony, I just love him and his nephew David!! Of course book 3 made me cry, but I can't put them down. So now onto book 4.
There were ploys and subplots, a young boy who had had so many bad things in his life that he refused to talk. There is a wonderful teacher who along with her friends helps change a lot of lives. She is almost murdered, but a mule saves the day.
Once again, we are seeing the lives of our past characters evolve, while setting in on Ms. Stanton's journey to finding love with the elusive Ant, who is riding through town on a quest to finding his nephew.
After reading some "heavy" books, this was a welcome, easy, light read. This is the 3rd book in the Montana Sky series. I read the first 2 a couple of years ago. I have the rest of the series on my Kindle and am eager to read all of them.
Enjoyed reading about Ant. He has been searching for his nephew and his pa who had killed his sister. He gets to Sweetwater and finds his nephew and has to rescue him and also love.
I enjoyed the book for the most part. I did tire of Harriet "pining" for someone else's husband. I wanted to shake her and tell her to get over it! I liked David more than any other character. Such a sweet, sad little guy.
This is a very sweet clean historical romance story the series is really good and the characters are really good to read about. I highly recommend this series
