Tammy Verdell is a thirty-five year old woman who has been married to her husband Joshua for six years. In the beginning things were good but things quickly changed after they said the words 'I do'. The once loving man that she once knew is no longer there. He has been replaced by a mean, abusive, hateful monster! How much can one woman take before she snaps?
First I found the title. Sex Slave, totally misleading. Tammy was not a sex slave; she was an abused wife, mentally, socially and physically. Nothing in the relationship showed any mutual affection; this skinny little white dude was a mean spirited sadist. I can understand how the character, Tammy could snap but in the real world this is not a socially acceptable solutions and putting it into a story validates the use of violence. Poor Tammy needed help but living in an isolated setting with her coping skills highly developed to hide what was happening to her she did not get any support, which is sad because in real life women actually live like this. Our society has failed in this area and if this book does one thing good, it points out the need to help both men and women who are in abusive situations.
