Captain America: Look and Find

Rate this book

Look and Find: Marvel, Captain America, The First Avenger enables children to join forces with their favorite patriotic hero and use their look-and-find skills to help defeat the Red Skull's HYDRA villains. Eight colorful, action-packed scenes based on the Marvel Comics movie conceal dozens of hidden characters and objects. Designed for children ages 4 and older, the vividly illustrated picture book enables children to have fun as they develop their power of observation.

Children search each of the eight scenes for hidden Captain America characters and action items such as airplanes, motorcycles, dynamite, and missiles. Here is a quick look at the eight scenes in Look and Find: Marvel, Captain America, The First Avenger:

Find Steve Rogers's friend Bucky and other theater-goers in a crowded alley. Discover futuristic gadgets at the "World of Tomorrow" fair. Join Steve Rogers on a tough army course, pointing out obstacles. Track down high-tech items in the Rebirth Lab. Search for citizens on busy New York streets. Pick out patriots in a crowded audience. Look for dangerous weapons in the HYDRA factory. Search for friendly airplanes in the skies above Europe.

The final section of the book challenges children to revisit the eight scenes and find dozens of additional items. The 10x12-inch pages allow for expansive scenes that are rich in detail.

Barely any narrative to the prose at all (repeats the movie plot but leaves out any sense of storytelling), and the objects you are directed to find are inane (a gauge, a banana peel) and unnamed (i.e. a picture of a lever but doesn’t say the word “lever” anywhere).
