Again this was more storytelling than action, but the storytelling is so good. There was action at the end though, and a cliffhanger, so I know the beginning of Volume 6 is going to be super exciting. I have other books I need to read, and reviews I need to write, but I can't put this series down for more than a day or two. Needless to say I'm on to the next one asap!

¡Que genial! En este tomo aparecen ciertos personajes que se ven súper interesantes... Empezando por Erwin, líder y comandante del cuerpo de exploración fuera de las murallas. El pequeño pero monstruoso Levi que se carga tremenda facha. Y por último Hange, quien se ganó mi corazón rapidísimo.
El final del tomo es impactante y solo queda ir de una a leer el siguiente.

I love this series so much but I struggle to keep up with the wide cast of characters. I kept having to flip to the character guide to figure out who was who, but I still enjoyed this one despite the slight confusion I had.
This volume had some of my favorite scenes that I remember from the anime, ranging from the iconic cleaning scene and Hange's experiments to the major plot twist. This volume also had introductions to some of my favorite characters (Petra and Ilse).
I can't wait to read the next volume soon.

Well the flashbacks are still messed up, the art is so bad but I have a thing or two for Levi. I think this was the best volume so far. Not so many flasbacks the axe of time is kinda stable. The story evolves and we learn more about the characters, especially the scouting team.

Now we've got a good mixing of the noobs with the elites with plenty of expected death on the line.
Can I say that this volume was rather surreal without quite going overboard? Probably. It's more of a deep, deep surreal. The whole manga is so super serious and quick and emotional, full of horrible expectations that are truly bleak.
Even with their secret weapon, it really doesn't seem to matter. There's no banding together of humanity in the face of one great enemy. People are still shit.
And yet, the truly stoic still get up and feed the titans. That's pretty damn impressive all by itself.

Intrigues and more factions take the stage. Moving from the safety of the walls, this volume sets up towards more explosive events
A group of people looking to change the status quo, that’s the survey corps.
Tribunals (enter courtroom drama!), experiments and some reunions. I find Levi very intriguing, as well as the power struggles in the center, but essentially we are more teased than exposed to answers.

Hange is my favorite. I loved learning a little bit more about the titans, and loved the cliffhanger ending.

Konačno dočekah Darkwood-ovo izdanje 5. dela u ovom serijalu. I.... vredelo je čekati. Kao što sam ranije primetio, navučen sam na ovaj serijal - sviđa mi se grafika, sviđaju mi se likovi, sviđa mi se sama priča i još mnogo toga.
Ovaj nastavak se završava poprilično intrigantnim cliffhangerom. Šestica će biti verovatno ludački interesantna. Samo se treba strpiti...

1) PETRA QUEEN😭
2) Levi becomes a MC
3) bc the epic courtroom scene w Levi and his kicks and punches👀
4) the trainees who join the Survey Corps in this one
5) the female titan makes her first appearance👀
So basically I love this one like the rest

That cliffhanger!
I am with Mikasa about Levi: he behaves so mighty and all and even knocked out poor Eren's tooth.
I am glad we learned some things about Titans as well. They are definitely humans, I'm telling you!

The last chapter had some decent action but the rest of this volume was pretty damn dull and I still don't care about any of the characters. Not sure I'm going to continue with the series.

That went scarily quick. Honestly, I sped through this in about half an hour and I didn't even notice. I was so surprised when I realised I was already on volume 6.
1) The art is getting a lot better. The way it's detailed in the manga is very different from the anime. I feel the characters reflect what they've been through, and their emotions are reflected better, in black and white, while the anime goes for more of a coloured approach. The detail is scratchy and messy and it perfectly matches the plot.
2) HANJI. I. LOVE. HANJI. Seriously, love her. Just to clear things up: Hanji IS a girl. She does look a bit masculine in the manga, but she is a woman, and I love her. I love her attitude, her appearance, the bond she has with other characters, the respect she has for herself, other members of her squad, TITANS- it's perfect! She's my favourite character and honestly, having an entire book dedicated to her would be AMAZING. Like, her past and how she became a member of the Scouting Legion, and how she met Levi and Erwin. She's a very compassionate person, albeit slightly crazy, but that's another one of her admirable traits.

Woah. A titan talked. Well that's new.
I feel like I should feel bad for how they restrain the captured titans since it's pretty brutal, but they're not humans or animals, they're basically just killing machines. So I won't feel bad anymore. Very interesting that the titans barely weigh anything - just why do they exist ... ?
Finding out who decided to join which branch was also interesting. I hope they all don't die now though.
And now we have an intelligent female titan! This should be good ...

Another volume that was a bit more character driven but I still really enjoyed it. I like the forays into titan territory but I'm losing track of whether they are still within the walled city or whether they've actually ventured outside the walls altogether.
I enjoyed the debate over Eren, and how the different sides go about presenting their arguments. Really enjoyed the discussion over the experiments, and I'm enjoying seeing a little more differentiation between the titans now.
Keen to learn more of this world and the cliffhangers are killer! So yes, on to the next one!

I absolutely love Hange!
She's one of my favourite characters. Totally goofy and quirky and a badass with glasses!
I think Levi's obsession with cleanliness really fits him.
It's all quite light-hearted and funny despite characters dying left and right.

Eren is Levi’s responsibility now that he’s joined the Survey Cops. Erwin is the commander who insisted on having him on his group ‘cause most of the powerful man in control don’t really want him alive –even if he helped getting back the wall.
And here is the thing: most of the people who joined the military ended up in another groups. Only a few were brave enough to sacrifice their lives in order to serve for the Survey Cops. They’re kids and what’s scary is that not even half of them will make it back. Still, Jean, Sasha, Reiner, Connie, Mikasa and Armin decide to join them.
But what was more important to me was the fact that Hange, another soldier from Erwin’s group is actually investigating titans –kinda like a scientific making test with them. Which is slowly giving us information about them: one of them could talk and said “Ymir people” to a soldier, it kneeled and then, lose control and ate her. Still, I’m too intrigued of what is going on, what’s the purpose of titans killing humans, more so those ‘intelligent titans’.
By the end of the volume, a female, intelligent titan, who I already know is Annie, is killing the soldiers and breaking their formation. She attacked Armin’s people and now, what will happen? Will they survive against her attack?
