I really didn’t like the last book Ghost in the Storm, and for about a quarter of this book it looked like this wasn’t going to be much better. I really dislike possession stories, but at least Jadriga wasn’t able to control Caina. I also hated Sicarion in the last book and of course he re-appears in this story. However, the book did improve.

The basic story was a fairly typical Caina adventure, but with the addition of Corvalis, who I suspect, may turn up in future books. I quite enjoyed most of the story, but having a plot centred around a corrupt scheming aristocrat and a megalomaniac sorcerer trying to destroy the world is getting a bit monotonous.

Look into the shadows,
For in the shadows are the watchers.
Let the tyrants beware the shadows
For in the shadows, wait the Ghosts.

Once again our ghost triumphs.
An interesting read. I liked the way the author intertwined two different plots with two different villains.

This is an action packed book with new friends and old enemies. Caina again overcomes great disadvantages but it is an entertaining read that works well

This is a really great series about a female assassin named Caina and Ghost in the Stone IMO is the best volume after the first. Because finally, Caina has a love interest!

Mr Moeller knows how to keep you turning pages and wanting more in his books and this one was no different. Caina who is the Main character of the book so against Sorcery and it seems like she's always having to go against it in one shape or form. Which isn't a bad thing as in the 1st book her mother got into Necromancy and sold Caina more powerful. Now Caina fought a member of the Magistrim who was also a student of the Moroaica, a powerful dead wizard. Who isn't so much dead but a part of her lives inside of Caina and is trying to get Caina to give into her so that she can take over her body. But Caina refuses to do so

The great lords had dispossessed Cyrica's small farmers generations ago, and now the remaining free citizens lived in those tenements, subsisting on the Lord Governor's grain dole.

The crops grown on Cyricas slave-worked plantations fed half the world.

I suppose the above don't contradict each other. The small farmers have been eliminated and large plantations remain. I just found it odd that farmers were driven from their lands when the city/state grew so many crops. They must not have generated as much profit for the government.

I am liking Caina better as she matures. Her litany that everything that goes wrong falls on the heads of the magi is a bit short-sighted.

Another great adventure with new types of adversaries. I really like the concept of elementals slumbering and not to be awakened. Caina is forced to work in concert with an enemy.

Dear Jonathan, another entertaining and wonderful story in the continuing series of Ghost. Caina once again finds a way to defeat her enemies with cunning and wit. Your imagination and creativity is wonderful to behold and exciting to read. I highly recommend reading this book and series to adults interested in reading a great story. Ghost Stone

Caina travels to Cyrioch to prevent an assassination and the resulting revolt. In the process she stumbles across old enemies, while making new ones, and finds help from an unlikely source.

This is another fun adventure for Caina and takes us to a new location within the Empire. The city has a unique feature that is integral to the plot. We get to see some familiar faces and meet some new characters as well.

An intriguing tale

At book 5 you would think you've got this all figured out, butno. The tale is gripping as it's predecessors , if not more so. I am so enjoying this series.

Some phrases are starting to get a little redundant, as well as the story line, but I'm still interested in the overall story

Book 5 of the Ghosts. Spoilers ahead

Caina is sent on a mission again. Theodosia is being sent with a diplomatic mission, openly as an opera singer, covertly to prevent assassination of either the ambassador or the Lord Governor, and Caina goes with her as her servant.

It starts with her averting one attempt even before they arrive, and continues there. Enlivened by a contact turning into stone, and others following. It involves an old enemy, the secrets of the assassin Kindred, poison, jamming an entrance, someone who is seen sneaking about, a sister, dreams, and more.

Her fifth adventure takes Caina to the city of Cyrioch to protect Lord Corbould, the Lord Governor of Marsis who is there for a visit, from assassination. Along with Theodosia in whose entourage she travels, she faces Kindred assassins, a plot to start a war, a sorcerer turning people to stone - and Sicarion, who turns up as well. Then there is the renegade Kindred assassin who keeps crossing paths with her... and the spirit of the Moroaica which was trapped in Caina and continues to haunt her. An engaging, enjoyable read as always. In addition to the action-filled plot, it was also great to see Caina get a love interest - looking forward to seeing where that story thread goes in the next book!

I just finished this book about an hour ago, and I really enjoyed it. (I actually devoured it in about 3 hours.) I have become a big fan of Caina, and I look forward to reading about her adventures. Jonathan Moeller has done a great job of keeping her on the same path, and not making her a spineless trainwreck of a heroine. (I can't stand it when a character I like changes what he/she stands for halfway through a story because it's just easier to write that way.)
Stone was a lot of fun to read, and I am hooked on the ending. I have no doubt that the next book in the series, Ghosts in the Forge, will be fantastic. :)

This series keeps getting better. Lots of exciting fun as Caina deals with a complex assassination plot, a mysterious force turning her fellow Ghosts to stone, an assassin she keeps crossing paths with who she finds herself attracted to, and, oh yeah, the spirit of a dead evil sorceress who's living inside her. Caina's a great character, tough, smart, focused on her ideals and willing to do whatever is necessary, but also vulnerable enough to make me hope everything will turn out ok.

so much has improved since the 1st book and super pleased she at long last found love, we can now see a more a softer side to in the next book maybe?? again not much repeating, even though it's still there going on and the fact she's so clever and telling the lads what to do I love it. Looking forward to the next book and glad I stuck to the books now.

I got a bit bored during this one but did prefer it to the previous book. It's nice that Caina finally has a love interest but no doubt they will have their problems along the way! I liked the twist with the Defender!
