In RISEN (Book #6 of the Vampire Legends), Rachel Wood embarks on a mission to find her grandmother in New Orleans, and to learn the secret of who she really is. Her travels take her deep into mysterious territory, as she searches for her roots, and for an explanation of all that is happening to her.
Benji will not give up on her, even though she can’t remember who he is. He is still in love with her, and more determined than ever to find her and rescue her—before it is too late.
Rachel’s brother struggles to keep from giving in to his dark side, as he grapples to come to terms with his new power. Her sister, Sarah, tries to come to grip with her new life at Syracuse, while learning what it means to be a vampire herself.
Rob, driven by his love for Rachel, fights to shake off the influence of the dark coven. He will have to fight for Rachel’s love, hoping her loss of memory will also mean she has forgotten her love for Benji.
It will be a race to save Rachel’s life as all these forces converge in an ancient cemetery in New Orleans. But there comes a shocking twist, and by then, it may all even be too late…
Will Rachel finally remember her true love? And will she be willing to sacrifice it all for him?
RISEN is book #6 of the Bestselling Vampire Legends series (following SWORN, TAKEN, BITTEN, CHOSEN and AWAKENED).
Okay...I liked this one a tiny bit better despite a CRAP-TON of typos (seriously, did anyone check this book for mistakes? Mark or Marc? Through and thought are NOT the same word! Don't even get me going on pronouns!). I did like some of the plot developments. Two things that were extremely annoying...1. Did Ms. Knight just get rid of Hex Lotion? Seems like nobody uses it at all in this book and 2. Rachel had NO bag, then a backpack, and then by half way she has luggage! WHAT? I might...*might*...read book 7. It will depend on the price. If I can get it for free, I would consider seeing how this series ends. Hopefully, it doesn't go beyond 7 books....
I don't usually leave reviews, but this is by far the worst series I have ever read! I've continued to read them only because they were free downloads and once I start a series I want to know how it will end. There is so much potential for a great story. However, underdeveloped characters and the lack of descriptive scenes make this a dull read. Not to mention the horrible inconsistencies with details such as the spelling of Marc, the brother. Is it mark or Marc or Mark? I hope this author can help her writing mature, the idea is great, just not well written.
Another good one in the series. Rachel has risen, along with some other awful things rising, if you want to know what happens in this book from the series, start with book one today. You will not be disappointed if this is one of your genres. I have read each of them in a day , except for the last two. I read both in one day, that's how much I am enjoying this series. 😉 YA paranormal 💖
Spoiler Alert!! This book begins with Rachel in New Orleans looking for her grandmother. As Rachel arrives at her destination she reaches out to an old friend Kelly, gets drunk, goes clubbing, attacked, then arrives at her grandmother's house to get attacked again by her own grandmother who doesn't recognize her at first. With Rachel's grandmother's help she discovers for the second time that she's a vampire and it's her and Benji's destiny to save all the vampires and the world. As Benji searches for Rachel he finds that Marc is in trouble and goes to his aid and then he decides to find Sarah to see if she knows where Rachel went only to discover that Sarah too has become a vampire and is having difficulty accepting her new life. After Rob left Rachel's school he then goes to her house to look for her there only to discover she's not there and threatens her father to get answers on her whereabouts.
Her father decides to tell Rob that Rachel's mom might know where she is and to ask her in the hospital where she's staying. Miraculously, Rachel's father is the only person Rob doesn't turn into a vampire or kill. After Marc gets help from Benji he decides to go to a bar and ask for a drink only to lose his temper, attack a lot a people, and get arrested. After Benji helps Sarah escape he leaves her behind and Sarah goes off on her own to prison to rescue her brother Marc. As Rachel searches for answers in the cemetery Rob finds her and tries to take her away but then Violet arrives to kill Rachel only for Rob to attack Violet and get stab himself by Violet in return. Benji ends up coming to Rachel's aid in the cemetery and they run underground and end up falling into the underworld. This book ends with Benji falling into a pit screaming and Rachel screaming back she remembers him and jumps in after him.

A fun and fast read about a young vampire trying to find herself. Sadly I've missed a lot of the story because I haven't read all of the books. Guess I'm going to have to go back and start from the beginning. Nevertheless it was an entertaining read.
These are just okay. You can tell they are geared toward more teenger. Every single male has a sexual desire for any of the women or girls in the book. It is a little weird that there are so many rapist men in these books. There are mulitiple, multiple situations where there is a guy looking at the girl with rapist eyes and thoughts. Not sure that is necessary in every scene.
Horrible. Save your time and money for something worthwhile. Grammar, sentence structure, character development, etc. I can't think of anything good about this book. Cover was nice. Only gave it one star because negative stars are not possible.
I will say this about Risen - it feels like a better written novel than the others so far in Vampire Legends. It was smooth enough that I wasn't getting knocked out of the story with every single error and was reading closer to my normal speed. There are a handful of continuity issues with the book, though. Rachel flees home in book 5 after killing the men who were going to take her away to some mental hospital. She has nothing with her except what she'd taken downstairs to eat breakfast - she's surprised there and manhandled out the door, no time to grab more stuff. However, book 6 has her arriving to LA with luggage. I'd noticed last book that Rachel never used the Hex Lotion that was introduced as essential to a vampire's survival in the sun a few books ago. This book, no one uses it. It could be due to me misinterpreting what's written, but I thought Rachel was flying overhead looking for something - until it's written that she has a map and is walking instead. There's the Mark/Marc issue again. It's frustrating, because I'd easily give the book a 4 (maybe 3.5, but probably 4) without all these issues. A consistent plot should unite the series, instead of the abundance of errors. Instead, it feels like each book is off in its own little parallel universe. It's similar to what you'd expect, but it's not exact. I'm adding book 7 to my wishlist to keep an eye out for if it's marked down to free (I won't pay $4.99 for a somewhat short novel with errors) and keep looking at my library's website for the book to pop there (but, I have no clue why the library has these shelved; it just doesn't seemed polished enough to be in the digital collection).
Emma, I love your covers - the artwork is well done. The storyline was sorta ok, but you really need to find someone who can edit your work for you. There were so many mistakes in the story that I felt that you must be a teenager writing these books.
Even still, someone out there should really assist you to make these books a lot better. I gave you a poor review because you also don't read up on your previous work. You make mistakes that mess up the storyline. For example: you have the main character always lock her diary and she wears the key around her neck. End of book one her family finds her diary and breaks it open and finds out about her seeing a vampire.
In book two you twist it all around like the family has never opened the diary and her sister hid it for her return, and it is still sealed. Then later you say her sister read her diary.
Ok, I suggest you re-read all your books and re-edit it and bring it out as a second edition with the corrections done.
Apart from all the errors it was a good effort. I will keep my eyes open to see if there are any improvements in future work.
You have a talent, but you just need to work on it.
OMG I am not even sure where to begin with this one...don't get me wrong I am no English teacher or anything BUT MY GOD if I had a nickle for all the misspellings in this book I would be a VERY wealthy women.. not to mentions the loss of her own story... first one I noticed.. it said she got onto the train with nothing but her phone and what she had on.. but by the time she got there she had bags?!?!?! and she also said she had to switch trains to get there...but NOPE that didn't happen either! she woke up and was there.. Then she gets to grandmas and says there is an open window she yells into, and the VERY NEXT sentences says "if only she could find an open window she could get in?" WTF I think who ever proof reads for this publishing company SHOULD BE FIRED!!! She goes from one thing to another and the way the girls "feels so deeply connected" to every dam guy she meets in SICKENING...I am SOOOOOO glad I am done with this series...I think I was WAY TOO generous with my other ratings on this one..It is VERY doubtful I will read anything else by this author
I've read 6 of these books and can honestly say that they are terrible. There were many grammatical errors and the author completely forgot about some very important details in these books, such as the hex lotion and being burned in the sun without it. The only reason I gave 3 stars was because I did like the story line. I just wish that the author had stuck to the main story instead of adding so many new ideas and plot twists. It was almost like the author had to many ideas and not enough space in the story to put them.
I gave it only 4 out of 5 because of the many grammar errors. If you can look past that then I would recommend the series to anybody that likes a vampire love story. It does have a very different outlook of your regular vampire story witch made it interesting.
this can't be serious, there is another one. I'm sorry but this story is really dragging along. I won't be buying book 7 when it comes out. this is getting to be like a soap opera. I don't know what else there is to talk about and this one is worse then the last one. it should have ended at book 4
It's as if the author started getting bored with the series. Inconsistencies, and horrible grammar. Seemed as if a child was writing this book. Going to read book 7, and finish the series, but only because I hate giving up on books. Really hope it's better written.
It didn't seem all that well written and there were so many grammar and spelling errors that it distracted from the story. Not sure I'd read more from this author. I just finished the book because I can never leave a book unread once I start.
This book was to short I wanted more, plus me having to wait to read part 7 .I want to know what's going to happen next. I liked this series it was really good .I'm glad Rob finally got what he deserved he was getting on my last nerved!
I actually bought this book for my nook.. most of the 8th chapter was not there.... she went from leaving in a hurry in her pajamas to having "bags"... it was just all over... I can't even..
