In the early morning of November 11, 1989 Myra Starr suffered a severe allergic reaction and died. As the EMTs transported her to the hospital, they pulled a sheet over her face, unaware that she had not abandoned her body, but had been taken into another dimension, the beginning of a nine month study with the angels.
While Myra’s extraordinary story is captivating, it is much more than an account of a near-death experience, more than instruction in powerful healing techniques; it is a true-life journey into an amazing world of divine wisdom, understanding, and infinite love.
Those who wish to learn more about John Mulkey's encounters with shamans and healers should read his book, Metamorphosis, available in both electronic and print versions through Amazon.
This book does give lessons about personal God- given gifts, personal desires to become more, personal enlightenment on how to do something worthwhile in our lives. Some lessons are simple, some complex. How Myra Starr learns to be a healer may cause some consternation, some disbelief. Regardless, she does teach throughout the book about our need to listen "to Spirit," to be patient, and to leave our egos behind. One may not want to be a healer, but that is choice---to a degree. Indeed, if Spirit wants us to do or become and we fight it, our unwillingness can, she states, cause issues for us---everything from physical to mental and emotional upheaval. In the end, Spirit seems to win. Our acceptance relieves us of torment, agitation, and doubt. I have personal doubts about the "cave" visits, but I certainly believe that we are led to learn--& the surroundings seem to be inconsequential. The chapters on healing per se did not interest me, although I do feel every human can be a channel of strength and good for another. The steps on breathing I found intriguing & will work on that. This book could be read by anyone who feels there is "more to do" than just mark time.
Myra Starr is a healer, in Lessons from the Light she discusses how she gained her abilities and stories of those she has helped to heal; even though many of those healings were only temporary. That which I appreciated most about the book was her proclaimed decision not to profit from her abilities, feeling that it is her responsibility to help where she can. The book has numerous quotable passages pointed at wise living; a quote I was unfamiliar with but appreciated was -
Some of your griefs you have cured, And the sharpest you still have survived. But what torments of pain you endured from evils that never arrived.
An Old French Proverb
One can interpret Myra Starrs healing abilities as they choose, however, my guess is that those folks who are fortunate enough to associate with her are provided with road maps to better places.
This was an interesting book to read. I have always relished the fact of near death experiences and am always eager to read of ones own personal experience.
The reason I rate this 3 stars is because Myra, its her story, somehow gets transported to this cave like environment. To me, that just seems a little off but that's my faith. I really liked how it took her a death experience to really change her life. Sadly, sometimes that's what it takes.
Its a good read, I found it hard to put down. I recommend it to anyone who is curious about the other side.
As someone always seeking spiritual and healing books and often disappointed, I enjoyed this one very much. Myra Starr's NDE that led to a fascinating journey of healing and teaching is well written by John Mulkey. Such a tale is difficult to express and he handled the story and advice from Myra in a very credible fashion. Well done.
It is always so easy to be skeptical and dismissive of people who claim to have had “near death experiences” and thus have a greater knowledge of the purpose in life. However, reading this book with an open mind and being receptive to the ideas of spirit and laws of attraction can prove to be quite rewarding. No one really knows what is to come and what is to be.
The first part of this book I felt was spirit sending me lots of messages, answering questions I felt like I have had for years but now was the right time. I could so easily relate . The exercise part I skimmed although interesting was unimportant at this time.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I thought the personal stories went on and on with too much detail for me; otherwise very powerful and one I am highly recommending to ofhers.
