When outspoken atheist Corwin Holiday dies an untimely but heroic death, he’s assigned a chain-smoking, alcoholic angel as his defense attorney in the trial to decide the fate of his soul.

Today many cast Christianity aside, not in favor of another faith, but in favor of no faith. We go off to school or out into the world, and we learn that reality is godless and that free

Am unsure what my thoughts are on this book. It definitely kept your attention but still trying to figure out what kind of an angel Ranson really was.

Recommends it for: everybody
I received this book 2 weeks ago, and when I read this fiction version of Atheism, I was not able to put the book down. When Corwin dies saving a homeless man, he meets a very unique angel. The angel Ransom goes through five paradoxes that Corwin wrote while in college. Do we see a change in Corwin? This has become one of my favorite books of 2014, I look forward to reading more from this author. I highly recommend this book, it will make you think, and keep you engaged in the story from beginn ...more

When I first came upon this book I was fascinated by the description and of course the cover art (I am always one for an interesting cover). Fortunately I was very lucky in being able to get a copy of this book to read.

The book was definitely an interesting read and one that allowed you a change of breath. Basically as they say no good deed goes unpunished while you follow the atheist Corwin who dies after trying to save a homeless man. From there he is taken into an afterlife where he must le

Entertaining and thought provoking. Theological battle for the direction an atheist's soul will take as he awaits judgement. Assigned to an angel, who is his defense attorney attempting to enlighten him through various wild adventures. A few chuckles along the way keeps the story lighter than I would have thought possible, given the subject matter. Twists, turns, and unexpected changes in direction keep the pace moving and interesting. Highly recommend.

I truly enjoyed this book, imaginative & lush with details in a trip to the hereafter - the idea of an angelic defense lawyer as a scotch swilling, chain smoking pal was downright entertaining. Half adventure& half philosophical debate (both theological & secular) I enjoyed every page. Would recommend to friends & family. Appropriate for young adult & up

Action-packed

Amodeo writes an action-packed novel with insightful and witty dialogue. Occasionally, the dialogue drags on or the description of the scenery is a bit much, but all in all, this is a gripping and imaginative read. Anyone interested in the afterlife should definitely read this.

GOODREADS FIRST READ:
I noticed that this book was ment for atheïst. And as an atheïst I thought I needed to give it a shot.
I started reading this book when I was waiting for my train (yes, I know, haven't seen a drunk. But it turned out the perfect place to start reading this)not nowing what to expect. I really liked the story and the discussions but to say it has convinced me that there is a God? No, still don't believe there is. But I did really liked it.

Started to pick up in the middle...kind of slow at the beginning. But this book makes you think deeper than ever before.

As much as the content of this book had me fascinated, I gave up after 40%. It's written like a permanent discussion about whether or not God exists. An interesting topic to me but boring to read when it's written in that format.

This book focuses on the debate between whether or not God exists. It had some interesting parts, and it was sort of sci-fi like.

Very creative - odd at times - but the story kept me interested all the way to the end. Was the ending what I thought it would be? Not going to spoil that - but it is a good read

Wish I could give it 3.5. I'm not the target audience, and so I didn't always closely examine all the arguments, but I enjoyed the imaginative rendering of the afterlife.

A fun romp through the afterlife with an atheist who is being defended by a fallen angel. Raises lots of interesting questions.

Donald J. Amodeo has a whole lot of stories in his head, and in his head is exactly where most of those stories ought to stay. However, now and again one of them will escape its dark confines and find new life on a digital device. And on extremely rare occasions, that story may even receive enough love and polish to merit being shared. Dead & Godless is Don's debut novel. An entrepreneur and g ...more
