Someone is stalking her.

When the police won’t take her seriously, Ashli Wilson takes matters into her own hands and hires private investigator Lange Sterling to protect her. Even though his people skills are a little rusty, Ashli never questions his ability to keep her safe. While he works to unravel the mystery of her stalker, she works to unravel the mystery that is Lange Sterling. Instinct tells her he has secrets of his own, plus a shattered soul in need of mending.

Despite the growing attraction between them, the jaded ex-cop likes to play by the rules and he has plenty of them…. Always be Prepared… Always Stay Focused… Never Get Personally Involved… Too bad none of his self-imposed rules apply in this case. From the moment he meets her, Lange is mesmerized by the petite blond who entrusts her life to him. Though her situation is questionable at best, he can’t deny her plea for help. He soon discovers there’s more to the case – and the woman - than meets the eye. This Southern belle is smart, sexy, brave, and an amazing cook. Ashli Wilson is everything he ever dreamed a woman should be, back when he still believed in dreams.

As her stalker becomes more aggressive and a murder occurs, Lange knows it’s up to him to keep Ashli safe. He’ll go to any length to save to her life, even if it means losing what’s left of his heart in the process…

Best-selling indie and hybrid author Becki Willis loves crafting stories with believable characters in believable situations. Many of her stories stem from her own personal experiences. (No worries; she's never actually murdered anyone).

When she’s not plotting danger and adventure for her imaginary friends, Becki enjoys reading, spending time with her family, unraveling a good mystery (real or imagined), dark chocolate, and a good cup of coffee.

A professed history geek, Becki often weaves pieces of the past into her novels. Family is a central theme in her stories and in her life. She and her husband enjoy traveling but believe coming home to their Texas ranch is the best part of any trip.

Becki has won numerous awards—including two Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Awards, InD’Tale’s coveted RONE, and been named Finalist for two Claymore Awards—but feels the real compliments come from her readers. Drop in for an e-visit anytime at beckiwillis.ccp@gmail.com, or www.beckiwillis.com.

IF YOU COULD LOOK UP ALL THE THINGS SAID ABOUT BLONDS GOOD & BAD UNDER THAT DEFINITION WOULD BE A PICTURE OF ASHLI. SHE'S A HOOT. SHE REMINTED ME OF THE BLOND IN THE OLD 1950 MOVIE "BORN YESTERDAY" STARING JUDY HOLLIDAY. THIS WAS MORE A LOVE STORY THAN STALKER. IT GOT KINDA CORNY AND UNBELIEVABLE NEAR THE END AND VERY PREDICTABLE. ;D

The story begins with someone watching Ashli Wilson. The police don't take her seriously, so she hires her own private detective. At first, you think Ashli is a bit of an airhead, all blond and bubbly and a little simpering, but nothing could be further from the truth! She's full of surprises (won't say what) and the story gets much more interesting.

I found the characters well developed and multi-dimensional. The love story was a bit sweet, but I found it refreshing and touching. I even found myself sniffing away tears at times.

The descriptions were great! Could totally see the Daisy House in my mind!

The mystery was good, with a few unexpected twists and no loose ends. All and all, an enjoyable read!

Looking forward to reading more from this new author.

Enjoyable enough until the last chapter. The last chapter completely ruined the book for me, maybe I'm just unromantic but the ending literally made me angry.

One of my goals for 2023 is to try and make a better effort, especially with the cost of living rising to clear my kindle books as I have so many that if I am being completely honest, I don't need to buy any books but of course with great titles coming out every day- it gives us readers like myself FOMO. So, I try and alternate between an old read and a newer one and so far, it has worked great for me. This particular one was an oldie read. He Kills Me, He Kills Me Not shows several of the characters having an affinity for the actress Doris Day and depending on whether you love or hate Doris Day plays a big part in this book to whether you live or die or if you are a good person or a baddie. Our main female character Ashli resembles Doris Day and is being stalked, and the police won't take her seriously so she decides to hire a private investigator Sterling Lange. Lange thought that he would never be able to experience romance or true love again after his wife was killed in action, but after being around Ashli, she has put the light back into his soul and made him want to be a different and better person. However, we all know that mixing business with pleasure can be a bad decision and when Lange does, he learns he is putting Ashli at a bigger risk. Can the pair not only figure out who is stalking Ashli and somehow solve a thirty-year-old serial killer case but have time to fall in love with one another? Find out in this great romantic suspense that leaves readers guessing right till the last few chapters and feels like a cozy mystery without being the cozy we are used to within this genre.

A private investigator reluctantly takes a stalker case. There was nothing to go by and it seemed that he was more obsessed with her beauty than anything else. At first, the story didn’t sound too special and it slowly dragged on for me. Story spent more time describing everything rather than get into anything good. I’m sorry, but I need a book to grab me from page 1. This one couldn’t even grab me within the first 25 pages. If nothing good has happened within the first 25 pages, nothing good is going to happen in the rest of the book. Too boring!

Must Read Absolutely immersed in the characters and story

This is a great old who done it live story. With Lange and Ashli coming together as a client of a piece investigator looking for a supposed talker and then an ex lover entering the picture (who happens to be off her rocker) this book never lets up. And the food ... Oh Ashlis sweet glorious cooking you can just taste through the words. Recommend this book highly

Really interesting and descriptive.

Again Becki has written another story completely different from all of her other ones. I liked the story line, the characters, the location descriptions, sound wonderfully beautiful. The mystery was gripping, interesting. I do like clean reading though, which is why I only gave this a four stars. It was only one time, but still, I’d rather used my imagination than read the details.

Good mystery

Someone was stalking her, so she hired a detective. He is handsome and grumpy. The case leads to a copycat killings from thirty years ago. Twists and turns make this a good book. I figured out the killer way before the end but it still kept me glued.

awesome book

Becki Willis has now become one of my favorite authors. She is able to draw the reader into the story from the first paragraph. Her stories are written with heart and soul. She causes you to fall im love with each of her characters. She is a natural author. May she continue to write such wonderful relatable stories.

Intrigued

I like this story a lot. It kept me intrigued the whole time. Halfway through, I knew it was Mr. Parnell, but there was still a good bit of suspense.!

I almost didn't buy this book because of the ridiculous name. But I read the reviews and decided to give it a go.

I got through almost all of it thinking that it was decent enough and not a total waste of money - until I got to the last or second to last chapter. My god.

SPOILERS DOWN BELOW - YOU HAVE BEEN SUFFICIENTLY WARNED:

Spoilers: So I was anticipating a cliche ending, that's fine, but the writer had to up it beyond the appropriate levels of cliche. These characters, who have only known each other for a few weeks and in a high stress situation have decided to get married. I got so mad that I angrily closed the app and had to convince myself to at least finish the book since I had gotten like 90% through it. Had these characters had a more realistic ending this book probably would have scored higher for me, like 2.5/5.

This is the first book I have read from Becki Willis. It's a romantic mystery that keeps you guessing until the end. The romantic scenes were definitely R rated, but done tastefully. Ashli is being stalked and the police don't take her seriously so she hires a private detective to protect her. Of course Lange is drop dead gorgeous and she is the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. Ashli, however doesn't realize her beauty, inside or out is anything special. There is more going on than trying to catch the stalker. Lange has no family and feels like he has no roots. He slowly opens himself up to the possibility of new love complete with family and a home. I really liked the book. However, I am noticing that many of these kindle edition of books have many mistakes in them. I am not sure if they are not edited well, or if there is some problem in creating the ebooks.

Interesting

The plot is pretty standard. Woman believes she is being stalked. Hires overworked PI, who needs a good woman to heal him. Fh is supposed to resemble Doris Day, and that theme continues through the book. She was too happy homemaker for me, but she develops sass. Romance was predictable which was sad.

Hated it. I could not get into it at all and felt like it was a total waste of money. No connection what so ever with the characters and it was just so sweet it was annoying to read.
