Three years have passed since the events chronicled in Prince of Time...

Anna has made a place for herself in thirteenth century Wales as a wife, mother, and healer. David has taken more of the kingdom's rule on his shoulders, even as his relationship with Lili has caused friction with his father, King Llywelyn. The King wants his son to seek a political marriage that will

This series keeps getting better! I started reading this series with the prequel Daughter of Time just trying out a different story type I usually wouldn't get into. I'm so glad I did! This book starts out 3 years after the end of Prince of Time. Explaining a few updates of the characters during the time gap but really starting the suspense on the first page. The events were intense from chapter one to the last page of the last chapter, with no dull or slow moments. There were no major character ...more

As much as I like this series the author really gets me irritated at times. In the beginning of the series it was how much she switches perspectives, it had my head spinning...

The confusion in this book was a lot less in how she takes us through battle scenes, geographical details and the like and I was glad of that.

My bigger complaint was that I felt overwhelmed by cliff hangers in this book. It felt inconsiderate to her readers at moments.

But you know what? I'm still going out to buy the next

Fast-paced multi faceted story. I had to keep a map of Wales in front of me while I read the story in order to keep up with all of the action. Woodbury is an exciting writer who can write as easily about war and political intrigue as she can about the hearts of men and women.

Evil portrayed in selfish, greedy people who betray kin and country

Political avarice hidden in deceit and betrayal take both Anna and David by surprise in separate events. Love complicates David’s life and devotion while pounding across Wales and into England on horseback to honor a commitment though he risks his future and his family’s safety. Anna discovers her own strength when refusing to allow enemies to destroy or ransom her or Cadell. She is no medieval fainting flower who waits for rescu

This alternative history follows Prince Llewelyn, his son David, and Welsh history as it might have been, had Llewelyn survived the trap set for him by the English at Cilmeri in 1282. Llewelyn is now king of an independent Wales, but he fights continual assaults by English attackers assisted by Welsh traitors. Likewise, England suffers at the hands of warring noblemen and the three regents struggling to wrest power from each other during the infancy of King Edward II.

True to history, the Englis

This series (After Cilmeri) really has me going. The author has the gift of making the reader feel as if we are there. Some authors give waaay too much description; others not nearly enough. Sarah Woodbury provides the reader the information as if you were a friend(or not) of each of the main characters and as if being told by that very person, with just the right amount of detail. I am a history buff, so this type of story is my “cup of tea” The additional aspect of time-travel as introduced in ...more

I love this series which describes the adventures of a 21st century family in 13th century Wales. There was plenty of action in this book and we spend a lot of time with Anna, who was only a small part of the previous book. However, there was so much going on and there were so many pieces of a very complicated conspiracy that there was very little time for human interactions. At one point, Anna thinks about how seldom she gets to have any thoughtful interactions with other women. At the end of t ...more

I enjoyed the first three books in this series, but this one left me very disappointed. I'm all for a great battle description and the author's sense of place is very good, but so much of the main characters' interaction is missing. This book starts 3 years after the last one ends, so we get no insight into: Marged and Llewellyn's reconnection and relationship and being pregnant again, Ieuann and Bronwen's wedding, marriage and apparent struggle to get pregnant, David and Lili's courtship and An ...more

I've loved this series since I first started reading it on hols 5 years ago, and save progressing through it for when we're abroad, so it's 4 years since I last read any of it. This is Book 5 according to my kindle (but I think that factors in the half books the author throws in now and again). This was easy to get back into (memory and good series-writing make a big difference). Gripping, educational, exciting. It makes me wish the alternate universe were the real one, and that Wales were indee ...more

David is Arthur?

In this book David tries to win Lili 's heart. Anna has some adventures of her own. And the English invade the southern borders by sea. A heartbreaking ending will keep the reader looking for more.

Time Travel

This is an excellent addition to the time travel re-imagining of Welsh history. I would recommend this book to everyone. The series The After Cilmeri should be read in order.

* I won a copy of this book in a random "sweepstakes" drawing from the author. My review below is my own personal, honest opinion and was not even requested by the author, either before or after the contest. *

Fantastic 3rd book of the After Cilmeri series. David and Anna, two young modern children of Meg, an academic specializing in medieval Wales, find themselves ...a few books back... back in time in 13th Century Wales. For how that comes about, you need to read the previous books.

David, Anna, Meg and Bronwen have settled down in 13th century Wales. A peace treaty had been signed 3 years ago between Wales and England so they were feeling pretty safe. Then they have a secret meeting with one of the English Lords. They are attacked before they can come up with a plan. Things are not as they appear and they rush to keep their castles safe from invasion. As they rush around Wales trying to warn people and escape capture, they piece together what is really happening.

The first two books in this series (Daughter Of Time and Footsteps In Time) featured characters from the present day traveling back in time to medieval Wales. The next one (Prince Of Time) had two characters from medieval Wales travel to the present day. I like those kind of time travel stories, where the characters compare the similarities and differences between their time and the time that they end up in. But this one just happened all in medieval Wales. And it is actually an alternate univer ...more

I have read all of the current Cilmeri books to date, and love how Sarah Woodbury has written this series. The people feel real, the situations are believable, and she paints a rich tapestry without overloading on details. Crossroads in Time doesn't disappoint.

Anna takes a more active role in this book, and we see her strengths, where she was less than thrilled about her fate when she first arrived. As tragic as it is, Woodbury doesn't shield her readers from the reality of women's lives in the

Wait - a story without any actual time travel? The first two thirds was a bit of a nail-biter, trying to figure out WHO is behind all these sneak attacks, and where the next one will show up, and how they'll stop it...and then the climactic battle. David and his dad certainly are awfully lucky! I had a little trouble figuring out who was where when and what they were doing, but it all eventually shook out, and how interesting that so many of the Marcher lords ended up being allies....wonder how ...more

This is the final book in the series and wraps up the story fairly neatly, though I wouldn't be surprised to see her write another. It is three years later, and Meg arrives back in the middle ages--this time in a small plane! It is one big happy reunion with LLewlellyn and her now grown kids. Welsh politics are really hard to keep track of without a chart of the players! The side switching and back stabbing that goes on is difficult to follow. I still question the acceptance of these strange peop ...more

I just love this series about time travel and a parallel time line with a different outcome. I find the characters in the book very interesting and the story enthralling. I find it hard to put the book down. I have the entire series. I can't imagine what it would be like if I had traveled back in time to the 13th century. No indoor plumbing, no cell phones, no hospitals, no electricity, and no tv. ...more

Ah, a parallel time! Well, that makes perfect sense. I'm glad the author is taking some unusual liberties with this series that make it different than a traditional time travel story. And there are some laugh out loud scenes that are so well described you can just see the confusion and fear on the medieval faces. To say more would be a spoiler. This book has answered the burning question "If you had a chance to pack for a trip back in time, what would you take with you?" ...more

I thought I had already written this review, since I try to write the reviews right after I finish reading a book. So I am a bit removed here (like a day or two, but still). This book was far better than the previous books in the series. I liked this book and look forward to book 4. The things that bugged me in the previous books were not really there in this one.
