Hold on Tight

Rate this book
Six years ago, Dewayne Falco's life changed. He lost someone he never expected to lose. Resigned to punish himself for something he felt he could have prevented, he goes through life without getting too close to anyone.

What he didn't expect was for the girl across the street to move back home and remind him of what they both lost: Dewayne's younger brother Dustin. However, when a miniature version of Dustin opens the door to greet him, Dewayne realizes he might not have lost everything after all.

Sienna Roy loved Dustin Falco most of her life. He was the boy next door, the high school basketball star and her best friend. But when his life was cut short, she realized he left a part of himself behind.

Now, she's back in Sea Breeze, thankful to have a home for her and Dustin's son, but not sure if she can ever forgive the people across the street who abandoned her when she needed them the most — The Falcos.

Betrayal, lies, and forbidden attraction might end Dewayne and Sienna's story before it's even begun.

Abbi Glines is one of my favorite NA authors. Unfortunately, as of late, she has been hit or miss for me. I’ve loved some of her books, and others have been somewhat of a let down. I’m happy to say that this was a winner for me! Dewayne and Sienna’s story was one of the better SeaBreeze books I’ve read. Dewayne Falco has been around a lot in the last few books. Friends with Marcus, Rock, Preston and the rest of the gang, he’s been a regular part of the SeaBreeze group. Finally we get his story.

Dewayne lost something six years ago. Something that can never be replaced. His younger brother, Dustin. He also lost someone else special to him at the same time. Sienna Roy. She was always Dustin’s girl, but that didn’t stop Dewayne from caring about her, protecting her, and even though he hated to admit it, wanting her. After years have past, Sienna is back in town.

The Falco’s love Sienna, they always have. But right now, they aren't her biggest fans. After several lies and misunderstandings by her family, Sienna was under the impression they didn’t want anything to do with her. That they abandoned her when she needed them most. It hurt. Especially since she had a piece of their son, Dustin. Dewayne hurt the worst. They were good friends and she cared for him.
He wasn’t just a nice guy who had been my friend when I was younger. He was also a man who had abandoned me when I needed someone the most.

Dewayne never expected for Sienna to move back to town. And he never expected he would hear someone call him ‘Uncle’. Getting to know Micha and getting to know Sienna all over again is a dream come true for Dewayne. He wants Sienna. He’s always wanted Sienna. But he knows he’s not the man for her.
She needed a man who was worthy of her. Not me. I wasn’t what she needed. I had too much baggage.

Sienna and Dewayne… they’ve always had feelings for one another. Dewayne is your typical Abbi guy. He doesn’t do relationships. And Sienna won’t settle for less than that. She can’t.

 photo 5a0f5e0d-8cea-428e-ab86-e0ad792fe10c_zps0784d27b.jpg

Dewayne soon realizes he’s found his girl. As much as he tries to deny it, try to fight it, Sienna is it for him. He can’t deny his feelings anymore. He’s always been the girl for him. Always. And he’s thinking now, just maybe, for her- he can try.
Sienna was different. She’s always been different. She’d found something inside me and brought it to life when we were kids. After years of fighting it and forgetting her, I have given in and let myself feel. And I fucking felt a lot. More than I thought possible.

“You said you don’t do this.”

“I don’t. Never have. But then, I’d never had you.”

Dewayne was a big tattooed teddy bear. I understood why he was hesitant to be with Sienna in any way. There was a lot at stake. He might have been the typical manwhore, but he was a sweet guy underneath it all. I loved all the talk of . Sienna was a strong heroine. She worked hard, raised her son right and put him first always. I loved that about her. I also loved how big of a part Micha had in the story. He was a doll!

Dewayne and Sienna had smoking hot chemistry. Abbi knows how to turn up the heat. Thats one thing thats always a constant in one of her books. I loved this couple together.

Sweet, sexy, fun and a little angsty- this was a really good read for me. I liked the twist of the story and adored all three main characters. Abbi’s books are a guilty pleasure of mine. No matter how much they cost, or how many disappointments I get, I can’t stop reading them. I have read every single thing she’s written and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. I’m happy to report that this book was anything but disappointing for me. A great addition to the SeaBreeze series!!!

I wanted to protect myself from getting hurt, but I trusted him. I trusted him more than I'd ever trusted anyone. Besides, I wasn't sure he hadn't taken my heart years ago and not given it back. There wasn't much left for me to protect anymore.

So here's the thing. Abbi Glines books are like crack for me. Slightly overpriced but entirely addicting crack. The past few releases of hers have felt somewhat lackluster to me; a little of been there, read that. I really haven't loved a Sea Breeze book since Just for Now, but it looks like she has her mojo back with this one. I loved Hold on Tight. No it's not an epic love story or anything that will stay with you for a long time to come, but it was entertaining, steamy, and had characters I didn't want to throttle.

Six years ago Dewayne Falco took the shy Sienna Roy under his wing, but what blossomed was more than just a friendship.

But Dewayne knows that this is the girl for his brother, and he won't stand in the way of that. If only his pigheaded brother will appreciate her for what she is. Unfortunately all he can do is watch from the sidelines.

Sienna Roy thought she had the boy of her dreams when Dustin Falco started paying attention to her. So why is it that the older Flaco brother always seemed to cross her mind? But unfortunately one night and one mistake changes everything, changing the course of both their lives. Now six years later Sienna returns to the one town she never thought she'd step foot in again, but she's no longer the same girl...and Dewayne Falco is definitely no longer a boy.
He wasn't just the nice guy who had been my friend when I was younger. He was also a an who had abandoned me when I'd needed someone the most.

But Sienna doesn't just have herself to think about now. Her life changed irrevocably those 6 years ago, and now she also has her son. But can bad boy Dewayne really chance the course of his life and womanizing ways for the woman that has always been in his heart?

I really loved the story of Dewayne and Sienna. I especially loved that Sienna was so down to earth and did't do any unnecessary stupid shit to stir drama or keep secrets. She was who she was, and she kept nothing hidden. I really appreciated that. She puts all her cards out on the table pretty much right away.

Dewayne? Well Dewayne was everything I had hoped he would be and so much more. Sweet mother of dirty talk was he more!
I know it's a bad idea. But damn, Sienna, you're driving me crazy. I just want a little taste. If you'd spread those legs for me and let me taste you just once, then we could be friends. I just need a taste, baby. I know it's gonna be sweet.

Of course there has to be some drama and angst, or it wouldn't be a NA book, so Dewayne fights his connection to Sienna thinking he's not good enough for her. But luckily there were no jealous exes thrown into the mix or no added unnecessary drama. I truly enjoyed it from start to finish. And you know what they say, the bigger they are, the bigger they fall. I absolutely loved watching Dewayne lose his battle.

Warning…Major Fangirling Ahead

So it is no secret that I have read all of Abbi Glines’s books…and I have shamelessly loved most. However, lately I have been disappointed in her last few releases.

Well…not this one. I absolutely loved Hold on Tight. It was perfect to me…it was short, sweet, and hot as fuck…need I say more??

Dewayne and Sienna…

HOT!

I must say I wasn’t expecting much from this one as the last few have fallen flat, but Abbi pulled it together and I am pleasantly surprised. So before I was thinking really Sea Breeze Number 122…now I am like where is number 123! Do we have anyone else we can write a sexy book for Abbi??

I am sure a lot of readers are judging me right now…but judge away because this bitch loves smut with little to no storyline.

5 Hold On Tight Stars

You ever have that one book in a series you just love and will re read over and over and over again? This is that book for me. I love this whole series, but there is just something about this book at is my one.
I will probably have SPOILERS because I can’t explain my love for this book without them.

Dewayne & Sienna

I don’t want to recycle the synopsis for you so I am going to try and put in to words why I like this book so much.

Sienna, thinks she loves Dustin. He’s her first boyfriend, her first well everything. When he is killed, Sienna is faced with some pretty heavy issues afterward. Her mother and father are not supportive at all. So she is faced with them alone.
Dewayne always felt Dustin doesn't treat Sienna the way she needed to be treated. He wanted his brother to wake up. Only what really was going on was his feelings were getting in the way.

So now years later Sienna comes back to town after her family shipped her off.
She is back with her son. She happens to live right across the street from Dustin’s parents.
The Grandparents, it’s a shock and hard on Sienna she thought they knew of the baby but didn't want anything to do with him. She has been the one and only for a long time and when she finds out differently it turns her world a little upside down.
Dewayne tries to stay away, but can’t he wants to get to know his nephew but it’s more than that. Sienna has taken up a lot of his head space.

I don’t know what this stories gets to me it just does, maybe is that they both had those feelings when they were young but both pushed them down because of Dustin? Maybe it’s because I love a good story with a secret baby. I don’t know but I just love this book and felt it was time I reviewed it even if I mushed it all up. :-)

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

The last book in the Sea Breeze series, the last guy being 'tamed', the last time we are reading about Sea Breeze gang - it was supposed to be EPIC! BUT IT WAS NOT! Saying that I am disappointed is understatement - I am devastated!

description

The book felt very rushed and messy. Also I think the whole book was just one big repeat of itself as in the things characters said in the beginning they kept telling in the middle and in the end, with adding nothing new.

It wasn’t in my plan to read Hold on Tight yesterday but (dagnabit) when I saw it staring at me in my reader … I knew that I just have to. In case you didn’t know, Hold on Tight is the eighth and final book of the Sea Breeze series by Abbi Glines. When I learned that the Sea Breeze series is ending already, I immediately felt sad. Abbi Glines was able to create a very interesting set of characters that you’ll end up craving for more and more moments just to be with them. I got really attached to them while reading the first four books and then just got more attached during the next four instalments. Plus, Glines is really good with “fans myself” scenes. And there were loads of those scenes in this series. *waggles my eyebrows*

I was one of those fans who totally guessed that Krit and Dewayne’s going to have a book for themselves. Both of them really stood out in the 6th book of the series, Misbehaving and you’ll be able to feel that their characters are being build up during that book. Here’s what I said here in my Goodreads’ review after Glines announced the existence of 7th and 8th book:

Yes, Abbi Glines totally heard my plea with what I included in my Misbehaving as-of-now blank post, I just made it to a point to include this in there: "(but I swear Krit and Dewayne needs to have a book in this series!!!)".

January 1. ABBI'S BLOG POST:

"Dewayne has been in every Sea Breeze book there is. You’ve asked for his book more times than I can count. Well, Sea Breeze #8 is Dewayne’s book. It releases June 3, 2014 and more info on it coming this Spring."

CAN YOU HEAR ME SCREAMING? DJFKSDFKSD!!! My wish just came true with this news! So stoked to read about Dewayne's story!

I may have not read it on the release day itself (me thinks, that I’m still nursing my CoHF book hangover) but I was still excited to know the back story of Dewayne’s character. I actually forgot the synopsis of it (sorry) and I only know the fact that it’s about Dewayne and Sienna’s character. I was clueless with what this book has to offer. So, when I started reading the book and wow the prologue! I was quite shocked with the opening scene of this book. Glines didn’t waste time. And then wohoops, I was just sucked into the story. I even finished this book in just a few hours.

For me, the plot was quite predictable and compared to other books of Glines, this one fell flat and there isn’t surprising twists that happened. This book may be lacking in terms of its plot but it definitely packed it up in the emotional and chemistry department of the story. There’s definitely feels in here that I may or may not have shed a tear in some scenes. The scenes that occurred here were very realistic and Glines was able to present realistic reactions and emotions.

I love the build up with Sienna and Dewayne’s character and relationship, especially that there were a lot of factors that they need to consider first. I also commend Sienna’s character for being such an awesome heroine despite the circumstances that she experienced during the past six years. She also knows her priorities and her stand with everything considering her life. Seeing Dewayne being caring and sweet towards another person just warms my heart. It even made me utter “Awww” a lot of times.

I was supposed to give this book a 4.5 star rating but decided to remove 1 star because considering that this is the last book of the series … I expected to have more moments with the entire Sea Breeze crew. Seriously, though. I would love to have an epilogue part 2 with it just focusing on their relationships after a few years.

With that being said, Hold on Tight was still an entertaining and “fans myself” read. If you’ve read all of the books from the series, I’m sure you’ll want to read this baby too! I may be sad to see this series end but I think it’s a good decision for Abbi Glines to end it already with Hold on Tight. Because there’s already eight books in the series and it would be like stretching everything if she considers one more book.

All in all, Sea Breeze series is totally a great New Adult series and it would be a sin if you don’t pick these books up. You’re missing a whole lot of fun and great characters … hot book boyfriends, too. Swear, Glines’ books are one of my guilty pleasures and I would definitely read anything she publishes in the future.

Rating: 3.5 stars :)

The last few Abbi Glines books and I did not work well together and that made me really sad because I adore Abbi as an author. After taking a year off, I came back with Hold on Tight and couldn't be more pleased! This is the Abbi I love! Dewayne is a tough guy on the outside with his tats, piercings, and leather bracelets, but he's a huge cuddly bear on the inside that I fell in love with immidiately. As most of Abbi's women, Sienna is innocent - but not. She is the right combination of sweet and innocent but she's also fierce. When life threw her lemons she made lemonade. Overall, a really great addition to the Sea Breeze series and I'm now finally excited to finish them off.

”Because you’re mine. And I’m so fucking yours.”

I really enjoyed this story. I loved all the characters and the way in which Abbi Glines slowly unraveled past scenes which were both butterfly inducing and so very tragic. P.S. How cool is Sea Breeze High?!!

Sienna’s mother gives her the old family home since she is relocating after her father’s death. So, she’s back in Bama with her gorgeous five year old son, Micha. The only downside is she will have to reside across the street from her deceased boyfriend’s family who hasn’t wanted contact with her.

Dewayne, has loved and protected Sienna forever and is surprised by her return as well as the woman she has grown into. As for her son, he’s a piece of Destin that all the Falcos are truly excited to get to know and truly hold onto.

Dewayne is the standard book guy who doesn’t do the same girl twice, no relationships type, but he always saw Sienna as that someone special. He knows if he goes there with her it’s forever and so he gets scared that he isn’t enough. The scenes from the past and his feelings for her added to the story and gives it the ‘aw’ factor.

”I got some good qualities. Number one being you’re the only woman I’ve ever loved. I loved you when you were a girl, and I love you now. Always just loved you.”

Sienna and Dewayne’s love story both past and present made for a good read. The sex scenes were hot, their unbreakable connection was believable and Micha was absolutely adorable. Overall, a good read!

I loved Because of Low, and I care about the characters, so I keep reading these. Compelling characters and interesting story lines with a predictable happy ending. My problem is that I don't enjoy the nasty, graphic sex. This one grossed me out more than the others. I hate that Abbie Glines felt compelled to try to sex up her books because the series didn't start out that way, and I liked them a lot better for it. I also am developing a real problem with her slut shaming of promiscuous females while she celebrates the man whores who are miraculously reformed by a near virginal saint of a woman. I understand what I am getting, and I am making the choice to buy them, but I am disappointed. I wish she would consider keeping one of her series for those of us who just want a little sexy and write her others for someone who wants a ya fifty shades of raunchy. They are also getting shorter and more expensive. This one was under 200 pages (the number of pages listed here is about 100 pages off from the amazon number) and almost $8. That is about an hour of reading for me, especially considering I skip the sex scenes.

So this was Not my favorite Sea Breeze book to date, but it was ok!
Basically I am a sucker for anything that has bad boy falls for good girl in in. Perhaps Preston and Cage did me in, as those two alone were enough bad drama to last a life time!

For me this was a bit like Krit and Blythe's story, but alot less heat. Dewayne Falco grew up across from Sienna Roy and spend his high school years looking out for her. He was the upperclassman that the girls drooled over. Sienna was a quite beauty who happend to end up with the wrong Falco! She and Dustin Falco, basketball hero, were an unliked pairing but Sienna was in love! Too bad Dustin's popularity overshadowed their relationship. Girls, parties, and lots of fun times left Sienna alone at night...and ultimately in life!

With years passed, Sienna Roy has returned to her home town with life changing news. She is a mother...she is a stronger woman...and she is fiercly independent. She didnt need her family to survive death and life and she certainly doesnt need anything from the Falco Family that left her broken!

Of course we know what happens when Dewayne gets one look at his 'Little Red.' So here is the MEH' factor...girl goes away with big secret, she is basically abandoned by all and returns back home only to immediately wanted and loved by all. Yes, there is miscommunication but honestly, the whole story moved fast and wrapped up to neatly. Also, Dewayne's "i want you so bad" but "im not what you need" drove me crazy! I mean I knew the ending at the 50% mark so it just was a repetitive give and take until the sweet sappy end!

Yeah, I'm sorry, but this is the worst cover in the entire series. I mean, it's just horrendous. Also, did anyone else not realize that Dewayne is white? Because I totally didn't know that.

This was an epic story for some fantastic characters! Sienna and Dewayne really stand out from the rest of the Sea Breeze crew to me and that's probably because their so real. I think the story has an element that everyone can relate to and it's so well written that you feel the characters emotions too - the loss Sienna goes through and the guilt Dewayne feels. Their all so very realistic and moving. Suffice to say Hold On Tight was yet another fabulous read by Abbi Glines. If you're a fan of YA/NA then I strongly recommend this author and this series :)

Hold on Tight

“He’ll see that if you love a woman, you fight like hell to hold on to her. And you don’t fucking walk away when things get tough.”–Dewayne Falco

*panting*
*fanning*
Oh My Goshhhhyyy!!!
Dewayne gives me butterflies!!! For real!
LOVE LOVE LOVE!
Is this the last Sea Breeze book??? NO please!!!
WE WANT MORE!

*MC’s Corner*

Note: Spoilers.
• Did you feel that you just want to hug Dewayne???
(Hug, cuddle, embrace, hold… so tight and sqeeze him and not let him go)
OhMyGosh! I did! He’s the most cuddliest teddy bear in Fiction history… *sigh*

• MAGIC PUSSY!!! LOL!
A.K.A. Pussy Whipped! – it’s a virus spreading to Hot, Yummy, Saucy, Sexy, and Husband worthy men in Sea Breeze. So GIRLS and GAYS go in there and find your guy.

• So… Sienna has a son.
By the way… who is Sienna?
Sienna is the girl Dewayne’s dead bro girl friend that got her pregnant. (the condom broke, NO! JEEZ! HE GOT HER PREGNANT BEFORE HE DIED OKAY? GOSH! YOU’RE SO CREEPY! EEEW!)
Sienna’s parents flew her away from Sea Breeze. Six years later she came back with his son, Micah, who is so very cute and adorable and I want to kidnap. I really liked the way Abbi Glines introduces this new character, we never heard of her but the way she was introduced is not forced, you know like I-just-want-to-add-another-character-for-another-book then Ta Dah! A character came from nowhere! *smile* (I really hate those)

• There’s some new characters…
The one I liked is, Cam Dodge who is a vice principal, he’s fun and I don’t maybe Glines have plans for him, or not.

• MORE SEA BREEZE PLEASE!

I’ve said this many times before that Abbi Glines has fast become my go-to author but, lately and I feel like a traitor saying this but, lately I’ve been having some slight issues with some of her stories. Is it me or have they slowly started getting a bit receptive where you feel like your reading the same story over again and that they’ve been slightly rushed? That’s how I felt with the last two books I’ve read – One More Chance and Bad for You – Bad for You being my least favourite of Abbi’s work. So I went into Hold on Tight with no expectations whatsoever but I found myself more than happy with Dewayne and Sienna’s story because it was refreshing, different, steamy and so damn good!

Six years ago, Dewayne Falco lost one of the most important people in his life when his younger brother Dustin died in a car accident. Blaming himself for the events that happened the night Dustin died, Dewayne now lives life never getting attached to anyone. But when Sienna Roy returns to Sea Breeze, old feelings resurface for Dewayne especially when Sienna was Dustin’s girlfriend when he died.

When single mother Sienna returns to her home town of Sea breeze she’s looking forward to starting a new life with her son, but she’s not looking forward to living across the road from the Falco’s who she resents for abandoning her when she needed them the most – when she discovered she was pregnant with their dead son’s child at the age of sixteen. Now Sienna has Dewayne back in her life and her hidden feelings for him resurface, but can she ever act on them when she loved Dustin so much?

This is what I’ve missed! Abbi Glines delivering another steamy, emotional and touching read that makes me want to hold on tight and never let go of these wonderful characters. I loved Hold on Tight. It was a vast improvement from Bad for You and Dewayne and Sienna became characters to really root for. I have always been intrigued about Dewayne from the previous books and so I was glad Abbi wrote his story and from the past to present chapters, it really felt as though I didn’t miss a thing!

Sienna is a great character to get to know. I really liked her. She isn’t a weak character and she puts her life in her own hands as best as she could. She’s a devoted mother and would do anything for her son. I really enjoyed that her story was different from the rest of the girls we’ve seen in the book – Sienna’s is emotional and my heart hurt for her at times. And Dewayne, he surprised me. I come to like him much more than I thought I would. He’s a big softy at heart and I really enjoyed the connection he had with Sienna.

Overall, I loved Hold on Tight and I feel as though Abbi’s got her groove back with this series and I’m hoping it stays! I’m even more excited for Until the End now.

This book had lots of potential. I love Abbi Glines to the moon and back, but this story is just not her best work.

SPOILERS ALERT

SPOILERS ALERT

CLOSE YOUR EYES NOW IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS.

Let me try to break it down...

Cover - HOT. TRULY HOT. Abbi's covers nowadays are the best.

Characters - Of course I already know Dewayne. He's funny, sarcastic, kinda violent and all macho. I got many glimpses of his life in the past books. His character was explained here, but I think it would have been better if the explanation was a bit longer and more detailed. Sienna on the other hand, I understand. I think I know where she's coming from in every scene. I hated her being with Dustin in the past, but I guess it's all part of the story.

Story - SHORT. Yes, that's in all caps to emphasize just how SHORT the story is. I felt as if I was reading a novella. This played a big part with my not liking the book. I felt as if the book was hurried. After reading this, I was like "Wait, that's it?" .... -__- It ended well, but I was still waiting for more.

All in all, this is still a good read. Just don't expect to be wowed like in the author's past books. I think it's better to read this book with ZERO expectations.

Ohh wow! This novel was very sweet and romantic, but i kind of missed the final pop so could not give it five stars but rather a four point five. Nonetheless it was a great super duper novel. Abbi Glines is the master of New Adult books. Sienna and Dewayne were just what the series was missing a more grown up couple. I like that she entwined a kid in the story, the way that Dewayne and Micah don`t seem so far. I could picture Dewayne as Micah`s dad. Sienna is a woman of my taste. She is strong and for once she says what she wants, not this "okay lets fuck even though i know you don`t want me but im still hoping" like a few of the other girls. She was mor like the "no fucking if relationship not involved". As always Abbi, you`re the master
4,5/5 stars

I think besides her first book in this series this was the best one yet. I loved book 1 and book 8. It has it's flaws so I couldn't give it a 5 star but it was better then the others. Don't get me wrong I liked the other books too. I gave them all 3 stars. They were solid romancey books just kind of the same ol' same ol'

The reasons why I liked this one. Don't look if you don't want to be spoiled.

I have seriously underestimated this series! Since there was 9 books, I kind of assumed that the further in we got, the less I'd like these books. I wasn't really looking forward to Hold on Tight because we really didn't know a lot about Dewayne other than he was a big man whore like the rest of the guys before they got tied down. I wasn't invested in him. But holy hell, this one got me.

As before with Bad for You, abandonment and neglect are some of my favorite plots that just make my heart ache. But Sienna's story? Dang. Glines did a beautiful job creating her character. And knowing that Dewayne wanted her from first setting eyes on her? Heart. Melt.

I am a big sucker for non traditional families, and this one drew me in. I've seriously enjoyed this entire series. Now to wrap it up with Trisha and Rock's story.

This series is getting worst. I really liked the first 5 books, but the latest ones are bad. The characters are pretty flat and the plot is getting weirder and weirder.
The plot here was a bit ridiculous. I didn't have anything against Dewayne, but he was Dustin's brother. It's just weird that she was in love with his brother. Also Dewayne was sort of a player. That's a typical thing for Glines's books, but now is dating the mother of his death brothers son. So yeah it was weird.
However I have to say that Sienna taking care of her son was really cute.
I totally didn't like Dewayne. He was annoying, way overprotective and I didn't like his overall attitude towards everything was just getting on my nerves.

Abbi glines you are one of my favourite author but this series wasn't for me unfortunately. So far Into the series I feel like every couple has the same story but with a twist- I honestly expect something more or different at least. However that won't stop me from reading all her books 😅

Abbi Glines continues to be one of the authors that make me feel as though I was tiptoeing all throughout, for I wasn't sure if the next steps would be in my favour or not. I've read some of her books before that just wasn't working for me, and yet there were a few that I loved tremendously. I am in-between when it comes to my feelings for her. You can just imagine how wary I was when I was reading Hold On Tight. Nonetheless, the most recent book that I've read that she wrote was When I'm Gone, and I absolutely loved it.

Hold On Tight, fortunately, was better than what I had expected. I wouldn't say I loved it over When I'm Gone, but it was enough into making the scale in favour of "I am a fan of Abbi Glines!!" rather than "Meh. I don't really feel her." As what you would expect from Glines, this was steamy and swoon-worthy, on top of characters that were easy to connect with. Not only was this romance, but it also portrays griefs and second chances that will surely let you explore feelings that you weren't sure you ever had that comes with getting to know the characters. Sienna was a wonderful character, and despite her flaws, I never once perceived her as weak. Her love for her son was evident enough, and that's one of the traits that is definitely worth admiring. Dewayne was a great character too. Very sweet and understanding. His love for his brother, despite how the latter might not have deserved it (in my opinion), only serves as a reminder of his unwavering loyalty and strength.

Together, they were explosive. You can read the amount of tension that were years overdue because of the circumstances that they were supposed to face. Eventually, it was great to see them get together. One of my biggest peeve when it came to this book was how the angst was rushed. I think that's what it had been with Glines for me -- it's either they were silly reasons, or there weren't enough emphasis into it. I wished it was expanded more.

Anyway, Hold On Tight has been a great catalyst into gradually moving Abbi Glines into my good side. I hope the rest of her books will reciprocate.

4/5!
