There are five volumes to collection; this is our second we’ve read. I LOVE the large print and short phrases per page as well as the size of the illustrations (they take up the whole two-page spread. The actual illustrations are simple (I prefer elaborate, beautiful watercolor), but the more we read the book, the more I felt like they matched the writing perfectly for a toddler’s developmental age. There is reputation, sound effects (“clip clop” for a donkey), and just overall creative ways to explain the stories to young children. I’ve been taking 2-4 days per story to re-read. Elliot seems to be remembering parts of the stories and enjoys it very much. The stories take about five minutes to read. This volume has Simon and His Boat, The Boy Who Went Away (Prodigal Son), The Boy Who Shared His Lunch (Jesus feeds the 5,000), The Man Who Helped (The Good Samaritan), and A Sad Day and a Happy Day (Easter). It’s the most basic (yet still great quality!) of our many Bible storybooks we own, so I’ll be going through all five volumes in the coming months since it’s perfect for this age!

Great retold Bible stories for toddlers. Has my toddlers begging for more stories each night.

This is a collection of roughly 6-7 Bible stories in each volume. The drawings are cute, and often the facial expressions make me chuckle while reading.

Sweet and simple early reader Bible stories.

Highlights of this book are fish, as well as two stories that bring children to the fore front, and the Good Samaritan. The story about Jesus' death and resurrection is probably the weakest, but as a general summary it works.

SERIES REVIEW:
This is an excellent series. Some of the tools used to engage children (step, step, step, step when people are walking) are a bit repetitive to adult readers throughout the series, but the children seem to love hearing them over and over. Other positives include Lindvall's ability to bring children and childlike perspectives center stage in familiar Bible stories, as well as the "What did you learn?" section that reinforces principles presented. An added bonus is the series is intriguing for babies all the way through young readers. We own the entire series and give them as gifts. Highly recommended.

These stories are really meant to be read aloud – they are full of onomatopoeia and questions. At the end of each story, there is a “What did you learn?” section that encourages discussion. The illustrations are simple and the story is detailed enough to give the reader the whole picture without getting too confusing.

Excellent for the very very young. The illustrations are breathtaking. My 1 and 3 year olds (for that matter, my 5 and even my 8 year old) are mesmerized by the drawings and by the simple language. A frequent gift.
