I've read several of Mike George's books and seen him talk several times. He seems like a nice guy, in a smarmy kind of a way. He always has one of those pleasant looking smiles on his face when he's up in front of the crowd and he always says nice things. He also has a website on which he also says nice things. His books are also full of nice things and all-in-all he's someone you'd probably like to have a friend - wise, knowledgeable and ... nice.

This book is Mike's version of the Brahma Kumaris seven day introductory course - the one you have to take before you are admitted to the inner circle. Well, it's more like an inner hoop really - the inner circle is much more select.

So the book covers things like the nature of the self (a soul with a body), God (the most powerful soul), drama (the whole past, present and future of it all) and karma (why it pays to be good). It's formulaic, but Mike still manages to put his own particular (nice) twist on it all and it comes over as interesting and fresh(ish) despite it covering old ground.

I particularly like the way Mike leads the reader into an experience of the words and ideas rather than just feeding us dry, logical, intellect-driven words without any feeling. It makes it more possible to read the book with the heart engaged when it's written in this way. Having said that, it's much better to bring your own love to a book rather than feed off the love in the book.

This is true for anything though - bring your own love into whatever you do and say.

But I digress.

Oh, must go - someone is waiting for me outside - must go a spread the lurve.

Like most life changing books, this one is a bit slow too. Lots of complex information. Took me a long time to finish and had to read the page multiple times to make sense.
The illustrations are beautiful. Every now and then I would pause and admire the art work. Loved how the author kept sharing his personal experiences along with BK teachings.
Some really powerful meditation techniques.

This is a beautifully presented book. The artwork is stunning.
This book has depth, and following it closely WILL teach you to meditate. It is backed up by the CD of guided medtiations. Mike George is calming, that is an understatement, having been fortunate enough to meet him in person, he oozes peace and harmony. That energy is contained in this manual.
